Toni's new Giallo meet. Saturday 21st March 2pm Nr St Albans
GT86Jay replied to Lauren's topic in Social Meets
No, this is the other side. Looking around its a result of lowering the car and adding power over time, due to the geometry of the driveshaft / diff in relation to the inner CV joint. Seems common in the US. Starts with a clicking from the rear then turns into a conplete break. Ive got it booked in at toyota on thursday, ill make another thread with all the findings. If it turns out to just be a lose bolt / trim. I'll still make it to the meet. -

I can't make this now. Driveshaft Inner CV problems. Don't want to risk the distance until I get it changed. -
The airbag system has its own ECU. Remove that and it can't trigger the light and doesnt do any checks.

I could potentially make this. 2 hours for me. Put me on the list, if nothing comes up i'll be there! -
Google "STI Gauge Controller" There's lots of stuff. If it's like Defi you can record a track session then play back the gauge routine from that sessions. Peak would probably just show you the peak temps / pressures the gauge saw on a session etc.
-
You've got / had a gauge in there somewhere! http://z3.invisionfree.com/TuningHouse/ar/t2559.htm http://www.bakemono-imports.com/subaru/i/sti_genomeboost.jpg

Switching seats - Query to avoid warning lights
GT86Jay replied to Tweedbean's topic in Modifications
You only get problems if you go for seats with out the Airbags or Pressure sensors in. Will be fine going from cloth to leather. The car sees them as no different. -

All the kits have been sent and delivered, people have received them? Could you PM me your address so I can track with myhermes. If its gone missing there's insurance on it to send another. Thanks.- 145 replies

The one I drove had to many other mods to say if the improved acceleration was down to the final drive! I think the majority of it was, and physics would suggest it does increase accelleration! But it also had lighten clutch / flywheel, aluminium prob, manifold and remaps etc. Only down side I can think of is there is a slight whine at low revs. But I like that and wouldn't bother me!
-
If you've not got the 86 yet? Why not just buy one with the seats in? They're pretty common and most people took the option. I doubt leather seat option adds too much to the resale value?!
-
Loom is there, I've checked. And worked it out to put in my car. You just need the switch and the seats have their own loom. Just plug the seat loom into the existing loom.

+1 Whiteline Gearbox mount +1 for arm rest - You realise how good it is when you get in another car without it! Also some sound deadening is a fast improvement on road noise.
-
I've driven a car with the 4.44 ratio, with a loud exhaust. Makes hardly any difference and isn't a problem really. Nor does it make it any less comfortable. Generally all pretty positive when I test drove one.

So what's the plan with Steves one? Rebuild it using your NA parts from your car? Will it be staying a turbo beast or NA comfortable daily?

It's pretty much question free, I got the impression they knew the batteries on them were a problem. Soon as I said GT86, battery, 2 years. He pretty much said 'we'll order in a new battery'. They done the tests. Didn't ask mileage, how much its driven or distances etc. Just replaced it. But they're also fitting 65ah batteries. (Not sure if that's just my dealer or global?) But if you cna ask for the 65ah one. Been so much better since fitting! Didn't realise how poor my old one was. Even when it did start.

Yeah, I've left mine for a week or longer before no problems. I did keep the audio on one day and haven't really given it a full charge since! So should try and charge it fully before complaining.
-
Mines a terrible problem at the moment. Don't drive it for a few days. Flat to start. Jumped it a few times driven it 30 - 40 miles. Get in it 5 days alter flat again. I think the alternator is there to trickle charge. Going to have to plug it in for a weekend.

Random comments and question after 2 months of ownership

First one is to probably to if you opened the door before turning the car off? For some reason the car can't set the steering lock if the door is open when you turn the engine off? -
I could come over for a catch up, will see what i'm up to and how the day looks. What are you having done?

I agree, I wonder how noticeable it is in the top end. If it's just a bit of air loss that can be seen whilst mapping but not feeling to much then I maybe convinced. If it makes it a better car to drive that would be good too. I'd possible try them out but going SC anyway and apparently it's not worth doing both..
-
Fensport have fitted and mapped a set of these. Saw some good gains in the roque dip area but I believe it lost some on the tip end. As every NA tune does when changing dynamics of intake. Increase somewhere downside else where. Question is, does it make it a nicer car / drive better? I should think so having more torque. Also worth pointing out it's an negligible gain if you're planning to go FI. Not worth spending the money on them if you plan to go FI in the future.
