GT86-Ian reacted to Deacon in Mine on Pistonheads
I was talking to someone at Pistonheads last year and they asked me to write a bit about my car. They posted it yesterday. Link is below.

GT86-Ian reacted to adam in Project 86 mk2
As a few of you may know i have recently taken delivery of my second 86, due to a few issues with my first one. Things have taken a massive swing of direction since ownership and as such have decided to document this, as some of you may be interested in following the modifications that are planned for the very near future with this model.
To start this post of here is a photo from when i took delivery just before Christmas
Since picking up the new 86 aero i am incredibly happy to report that none of the old issues i had have surfaced, thankfully my local dealer has been incredibly helpful with everything and i couldn't possibly recommend them more. I am well aware that more than a few of you will not agree with the direction this build is going to go in, however for me this is a test bench to try out new products and offerings from various companies throughout the UK and abroad and to give as best reviews as i can, as such i have been working closely with a few companies already to try and set things in motion for this year, but more of that later to start with i fitted my set of valenti rear lights as i really dislike the look of the stock lights, an easy fit with great results. Following up with this i borrowed a friends workshop to polish and protect the paint through the winter.
This result was achieved with a 2 stage polish with my Rupes bigfoot da polisher, a multitude of polishes before degreasing and applying two coats of Gyeon mohs+ sealant, if applied correctly this can last up too a year if maintained properly, this not only helps to keep the car cleaner for longer but also helps to prevent all the winter salt and rubbish trashing the paint.
This car is daily driven as well as tracked so its a compromise with parts so some things will be tested to see if they fit my needs, especially since i like to have fun in this car, after all who buys a rear wheel drive car just to sit in traffic?

GT86-Ian reacted to Keethos in Keethos' GT86 Journey Back To Health + Mods
Nothing to add really to my project, but saw my car from above up high and thought....that looks awesome, didn't realise how awesome the 86 looks from above....especially since it actually looks clean from above.....it's absolutely well and truly filthy everywhere else. So I took a picture and posted it up on Facebook....completely forgot to post it up in here

GT86-Ian reacted to Mark-in-Stoke in Tuning Developments GT86 Turbo 'TD86'
Smudge trying to make me soil another pair of pants lol. TD's turbo for 4.5k it's a massive bang for your buck, I'm sure someone somewhere will do a comparison but at stage one this is a seriously feckin quick and very easy to drive car.

GT86-Ian reacted to S18 RSG in Made a bold decision today...
...and I think it paid off.
Coming from the VW scene with my previous couple cars, and the T5 camper we also own, I've always loved 3SDM wheels, but never thought a Euro style wheel would work on a jap car like this.
I've seen a few pics of the black versions on a GT86, but I'm not a huge fan of black wheels, so I took quite a risk buying a set in polished silver.
After waiting for a little over a week for the wheels, then a couple hours for the tyres to be sourced and fitted, this was the result:
I'm sure there will be many different opinions on this, but I couldn't be happier (which is, of course, all that matters) but I still figured I'd share with you guys as it's something (maybe?) different.
Specs wise, they're 18x8.5 all round (9.5 wouldn't fit on the front without a severe stretch, and I didn't want staggered fitment). I've gone for 225/40 tyres (Vredesteins, swear by them). I think I will end up dropping the car by another 10-15mm just to get the stance perfect (for me), but it's not a million miles away right now.
Any more pics required, let me know.
Regards (and happy new year by the way)

GT86-Ian reacted to Paul in Paul's Pearl White '86
My future brother-in-law has been over for Xmas so today was the perfect opportunity to rope him into some "quality time" modifying the new car. He used to do plenty of bits on his old KA so is used to a bit of drilling and sticking here and there!
New TRD spoiler: HKS oil billet cap: Toyota armrest: All 3 bits look brilliant and I can't wait to keep making changes! I took quite a few members of the family out for a spin the last few days and everyone loves the car. -

GT86-Ian reacted to rob275 in Robs S/C GT86 Project
After the painting I had my stripe put on a few weeks ago. Most of you have probably seen it anyway. Was hoping for some free time and decent weather to be able to give the car a proper wash and get some better pictures. But these will have to do. Only cost me £30 with the grey bit on the rear window
Now the cosmetics are out the way, it's fine to focus on some more track things. Poly bushes is next on the list along with some summit bits on the rear for camber & toe adjustment & front lower subframe brace I think. Then I can hopefully squeeze in a trackday or two before the first TSS round to have a play.

GT86-Ian reacted to Special K in Ninja Hellcat
There I was . . gently motoring down the M6/M1 yesterday morning from Cumbria. . . left at 7.45am, dropped off the end of the M6 Toll and, at Watford Gap at about 11.00am , caught up with a Ninja '64 plate . .
Hmm . . dunno . . flashed my lights as I overtook, glanced left . . it was Carla . .!
We had a great hoon from Watford down to M25 . . she's a b*gger for overtaking on the inside (but legit, outside lane was >70mph ). She has proper lane discipline and, being a gentleman, I adopted my surrogate role as shepherd, giving undertake and gently flashing my headlights to suggest "GET A FSCKING MOVE ON !!"
Respect, lady. I enjoyed it and you broke up a really boring journey . .

GT86-Ian reacted to Deacon in 2013 Tuned GT86
On the servicing front it's not actually that bad Sam. From an independent it's approximately £1000 for 4 years servicing as it's £350 for a minor and £700 for a major but they have 2 year service intervals. The one I missed out on had only done 14k miles, had full porsche service history and had a years porsche warrenty remaining which would cover any niggles that might emerge. It also had new tyres all round 4k miles ago.
Plus I see pictures like this and know I definitely want one:-
If the 86 doesn't sell I'll hold onto it for a while longer but I am sure now that the porsche itch needs to be scratched.

GT86-Ian reacted to Mark-in-Stoke in Marks Mods
Tuning Developments did a brilliant job of both fitting and mapping the car and it now feels like i'm driving the 86, the 86 should have been from the start - only with a new level of respect for her with all the added power on tap.
I loved my car before but now that's gone through the roof, i'm really really chuffed with the outcome.

GT86-Ian reacted to Lauren in Rally presenting news
Well, I had a fun day today. I was a little bit anxious, thinking what do I say, but just told myself, 'talk to them!'
This seemed to be a good strategy, though proof will be in the pudding of course, but I found it pretty easy and found putting a microphone in front of someone, simply made them talk. No worries then!
Lots of rushing about from service area to service area followed, catching up with the drivers after every stage or two. It was hectic, but good fun and I thoroughly enjoyed the half an hour or so we had on stage four in Grizedale Forest. Seeing a MK2 Escort spectacularly sideways and then catching up with the driver at the service area, to have a natter. Great stuff, just loved it and getting to know the drivers helped me feel part of it.

GT86-Ian reacted to Pitman in Pitman's Toyota Sprint Series car
Photobucket now playing ball, so some pictures
Sprayed interior (I managed to crack the windscreen when I was putting the role cage in, so didn't bother to mask it when I was spraying as it will have to be replaced)
Engine compartment - excess holes in the dash welded up, and the battery tray removed (battery will be going inside)
Electric power steering
Front subframe and suspension fitted (Tein coilovers)
Bias pedal box for the brakes, and the clutch master cylinder:
The back suspension is also in, buy I havn't taken any pictures of it yet.
