You do lose a bit of quality, even if you upload 1080p vids, I think the bit rate is heavily reduced or something. Tested and mentioned this on here when I first got my dash cam.

But back on topic, thanks Ian for letting me have a go, it was awesome! I really want to go FI.....lots of choices choices choices.....unlike my bank balance

Bit of a delayed post as I've been very busy but last Wednesday I had all of this turn up at my work.

    Contained within were:

    Tomei Expreme UEL manifold
    Tomei Expreme over pipe
Tomei ExpremeTi Type 80 front pipe
Tomei ExpremeTi Type 80 cat back

Needless to say I was pretty excited so an unboxing shortly followed..

Now I haven't seen many exhaust bits and I don't really know good from bad but it all looks like epic kit (verified by people when I had it fitted) and the titanium bits are insanely light.

I went and got the front pipe and cat back fitted last Saturday, just in time for Japfest thankfully.

I don't think I can overstate how loud this thing is. Now I thought it would be loud but it's even taken me by surprise. There isn't really any escaping it and the drone is pretty fierce. That being said, I wouldn't change it for the world       I'm completely in love with it and now I'm looking forward to finishing it off with the UEL and the over pipe.

The only thing that makes me cringe a little at the moment are the cold starts in my garage first thing in the morning. It's earth shaking! If I up the revs by about 100 though it really helps and once it's calmed down the idle isn't particularly offensive.

I'm going to a couple of meets this weekend so I get to try it out some more and I'm most excited.

I may add to this later as it's been a bit of a rushed job at the end of my lunch

Here's a (rather naff) pic of it standing at Japfest 2 to finish

Picked up my new GT86 on the 18th of August from Macrae & Dick Toyota Inverness.

    Spec:
Red Aero Half leather heated seats Centre armrest JBL sound pack DAB Sat Nav Roadhawk HD dashcam Covered just over 1,200 miles since it got it and ran it in by staying out of 6th gear and cruise control, and drove in one lower gear than I usually would. Every 250 miles I up'd the revs from 4,000 rpm by 500 rpm until reaching 1,000 miles. Now I can really enjoy it!

Been down to AMD Details of Elgin to buy a whole load of new washing and detailing stuff. They sell some of the best products I've used on any of my cars.

Anyone looking to get the Aero, Toyota have changed the spec slightly by getting rid of the OZ Racing alloys and replaced them with their own black ones and added a black tip to the rear spoiler. Both of which I think look much better if the car is in red.

Going to de-badge 'Toyota' & 'GT86' on the car this week and PlastiDip the front and rear Toyota badges black. I'm also looking to fit some Jap style plates, however I'm looking for some number plate mounts (front & rear). Does anyone know where to get some that don't require any drilling into the bumpers?

I thought I should start a build thread to log the progress of my car, this might be very slow and it's my daily driver so will never be too radical. This opening post will contain some duplicate photos etc from my introduction thread.

So this if my first ever new car, and I was very lucky in that I ordered on 26th June 2015 and collected the car on the 7th July 2015 so my wait was nowhere near as long as most it seems!

It's a MY2016 GT86 in red, and was the exact spec I wanted aside from parking sensors which may get added at a later date.

Anyhow it's all very familiar to everyone here I'm sure, but I picked it up with less than 10 miles on the clock and instantly hit traffic... which wasn't ideal.

Took it back to my business to show my business partner and interested customers. My business partners AE86 happened to be parked up so got some shots together.

I actually bought these Valenti rear lights before the car arrived because I'm really not into the OEM tail lights and knew I was going to have to change them ASAP when the car arrived!

My background is in motorsport/aftermarket part sales and although my business now is distributing RC Drift Cars, I haven't forgotten my roots so want to get some high quality, cool wheels and maybe coilovers as soon as my budget allows.

I fitted the lights on the 2nd day I had the car in the rain. Thankfully they're super quick and easy to fit so I didn't get too soaked!

A customer of mine ordered the TRD sound tube pack, and gave me this one since he was planning on using the red one. Will hold off fitting this until I've completed the 1000 mile run-in so I can compare it properly.

Since the weather was a little better today, I decided to lose the TOYOTA and GT86 badges from the back of the car. No idea who came up with the bright idea to have 3 chrome badges in such a small area... CLUTTER!
    Looks MUCH better IMHO.

I also got a photo of the rear lights illumined the other night...

I light them a lot, but think I might prefer the TOMs ones, so may end up changing at some point.

So my list of upgrades I plan on fitting
Wheels - undecided if I should go 17" and lightweight or 18" and better looking. I have a lot of experience selling wheels, but am very indecisive when choosing my own wheels! Coilovers - probably HSD since that's what I used to sell and had an almost zero % warranty claim rate. Exhaust - Still deciding if I'm going with my head or heart on this, but looking like the Tomei 60R is my cat back of choice - then will probably add an EL manifold later. I want a silly exhaust but am getting old so might not be able to live with it anymore TRD spolier - I'm after a subtle lip spoiler and this seems to be the best option although the Seidoworks one looks interesting. MAYBE a front splitter, but only if I end up running the car pretty low which right now isn't really an option due to a car park I have to get into on a regular basis that features a BRUTAL entry ramp! Probably some Carbone Lorraine RC5+ brake pads, assuming they make some that fit. These are the best road pads I have used so far, with minimal dusting and awesome stopping power.

Got back yesterday afternoon following a really great week in Malta.

First time there... a petrolhead paradise where the 420,000 locals own 380,000 cars between them! First words a baby learns is not 'Mama/Papa' but 'where's my car?'

A taxi driver told me he used an MX5, I asked him about spares and he told me he had three of 'em to plunder... classic MGB's, Corvettes and the like, in beautiful condition, can regularly be seen on the roads..

True to his word Andrew met me at the airport and ferried me to my hotel in his GT86. The roads are appalling - potholes that eat Transit vans - but that didn't deter him from drifting his rear end about like a demented Lauren... the driver/car combo is good which is more than can be said for their petrol at 87octane.. he has to load 30 Euros-worth of octane booster into each tank of fuel every 2-3days... ouch! A positive step is to go water/meth injection, should get rid of the need for accelerator.

Like me, Andrew and his gorgeous girlfriend Julia (who has not passed her driving test yet but already owns an immaculate ex-UK WRX STI) are  food gourmets, so we had a number of superb meals. When left to my own devices I did the touristy stuff - the Cathedral in Valetta is a fantasic example of Baroque architecture, I spent over two hours there and the walled city of Mdina is amazing with an a-v presentation of its history and that of the Knights of Malta - fifty minutes of fascinating history for 12 Euros. If you're a beach bum there's loads of places to get your kit off and roast yourself but beware, the UV factor there is amongst the highest in the world...

There were two especial 'treats' - I chartered a 37ft yacht for the three of us for a day (with a skipper) and we cruised up to Comino and back with a swim at the lunch stop, with Julia pushing a reluctant Andrew off the bathing platform... tsk, tsk, who's idea was that..?

Shame there was not a trace of wind so we couldn't hoists the rags but had to donk everywhere - turned out that Adrian our skipper was into IT so he and Andrew were having techy conversations whilst Julia and I engaged in convivial imbibation... I got sunburned to blazes, it was so damn hot..

Second treat was Thursday evenings trip to the drag strip. This is the only spot for 'motorsport' on the island, if you want to track your car you have to ferry to Sicily..  Met up with all of Andrew's chums - including Kim who has a Ninja GT86 and thus two-thirds of the island's GT86 owners were present.

This is real manicville - just join the queue and blast up the strip whenever you like. Run what you brung.. music at 120 decibels, food and booze on call, it was so laid back it was horizontal..

The friendliness and goodwill these guys have towards each other is amazing  and I was made so welcome amongst them it was like being at a TSS round... I was also given a special treat as passenger for a run in Andrew's car as we logged some data for Adrian (Fensport) to tweak a bit.. Andrew's friend with a Skyline insisted on drifting it around the paddock and finally blew a rear tyre, stopping inches from the rear of a Golf... quick wheel change and no harm done.. and Andrew beat the Skyline over their run together.. respect!

Finally met up with Andrew as I prepared to leave yesterday morning - he was in total awe of his new map from Fensport and it was a shame I did not have time to experience it. He hopes to drive up to the UK some time in October and I have offered to show him around and see if we can get some track time / social meets organised. This is one seriously committed Forum member, as can be seen from his detailed postings on HKS s/c installation, but in addition he is a bloody nice guy who went out of his way to make my visit memorable. And is sure was.

An update to Spec K's visit :

Keith was kind enough to invite my girlfriend and myself on a yacht he chartered this week! What a fantastic day it was! We sailed around the maltese islands, stopping at the tiny island of Comino and having a swim in the blue lagoon! Followed by lots and lots of wine & beer we headed on to another quiet bay, ate some nibbles and carried on sailing! Keith was teaching us the ropes (pun intended) in sailing. had me and my girlfriend do a maad 360 turn with the yacht! great stuff. Unfortunately we had to cancel our dinner reservations as my on-call phone started ringing and i had to go to work in the evening.

Today i picked up Keith from the hotel and we headed to the local (and only) drag stip. Met my racing team mates, again opened a couple bottles of wine, and had a great time!

haha yeah you were all right about the wine We've got it under control now though (not at all)

Last Sunday we had a fantastic day in Gozo! roaming around the island in the 86, we then went for another lovely lunch at Ta' Tmun restaurant (obviously with a nice bottle of wine to compliment the meal), carried on sight seeing, stopped at the beautiful Azure window for an ice-cream and at about 6PM caught the ferry back to Malta.

Below is a picture of us at the Azure Window (YES! i managed to finally get a pic of Keith on the forum SUCCESS! )

I never said it was an excuse. It is by way no an excuse. But it's also a bigger problem with Toyota GB. To go after a specific franchise is unfair when all the Toyota franchises bar RRG are probably similar! Toyota GB need to be pushed into giving the correct training and ensuring dealerships understand the service schedule. To be fair the service schedule the dealerships have access to is god-awful to understand and I could put something together far better in excel! Let alone what they have.

I am long past dealership services and repair work, I had my first 2 free ones done. Then all my work is done at Fensport, a place I trust, understand and know will charge accordingly for the work. And it will be up to my standard. A stamp from Fensport has just as much meaning than Toyota Dealer. And in matter of fact personally if I was buying a second hand car I'd prefer to see it have been serviced and maintained at a Specialist Garage rather than a main dealer. Like most GTRs are serviced from Litchfield or SVM actually hold higher value.

Why are people so precious about getting the car serviced at a main dealer? We are lucky enough to have Abbey Motorsport, Fensport and of course RRG which are an exception to the franchise rule!

    Hi everyone.

I've already introduced myself by way of a few posts elsewhere, but figured I should officially say hi here also.

I'm Ross. I'm 24 and live in a small town around 20 miles away from Cardiff in South Wales.

I recently picked up my red '62' plate GT86 after a few months of searching and deliberating, and so far couldn't be happier.

My car history started with a Peugeot 106 1.1 (for about a month), and then a typical Vauxhall Corsa.

With the "young driver" phase out of the way, I went into a Skoda Fabia VRS at 19, which I had running at stage 2, at around 190bhp and 300lb/ft of torque. While it was a monster, I had some serious bad luck with turbos. I blew the original turbo around 3 months after it was mapped, and then blew the upgraded turbo 3 weeks after it was fitted (due to it NOT being a brand new part, as specified). All these events put me off the car completely, so I sold it on and bought a 2010 Seat Ibiza Cupra.

As with the Fabia, the Ibiza was immediately mapped and taken to a safer version of stage 2 (with a full turbo back exhaust with sports cat and remap). The Ibiza dyno'd at 220hp and 240lb/ft of torque, and was a bit of an animal (it was nearly 100kg lighter than stock, and ran low 5's for 0-60 at GTI International).

Alas, after nearly 4 years of ownership and still loving the car, the time had come for a change. I test drove an E90 M3, a C63 AMG and a Lexus ISF before realising that I can't afford to run a 15mpg V8, so I started looking at the 370Z/G37S, and then even started looking at modern hot hatches (new Astra VXR and Megane 265) before realising that the answer was in front of me the whole time.

I originally saw a GT86 at Wilton House Supercar day in 2012. I sat in the driver's seat and loved it. I said from that day, "if they made one with 250hp, I'd buy one tomorrow". That attitude is what forced me to look elsewhere. After coming full circle and realising that the GT86 was a possibility, I test drove one. Despite being down on power to my Ibiza, and way down on power to what I'd been looking at previously, I loved it.

I loved the character of the engine, I loved the interior, I loved how it went around corners, and most of all, I loved that it was the most fun per £ of any car I had tried. With a few weeks of grinding and looking for the right car, a 300 mile round trip and some money later, brings me to today.

In terms of plans for the car, I've already got it booked in for a secondary decat next Saturday (£110 fitted at Prospeed exhausts in Cardiff, the only place I will ever go for an exhaust), and will be looking at options when there regarding a cat back system a few weeks down the line. I'm in the market for some initial, "sensible" upgrades (new gear knob, front splitter, armrest options and a few others) and when all that is out of the way, I'll start looking at some more expensive and significant changes.

The end game plan, is that in around 2 years time, the car will be supercharged (I just want to find a good twin-screw system before taking the plunge), on 18" wheels, slightly lower, bigger brakes and perhaps wrapped. The wrap is the only real unknown yet, as I'm not sure if I want to change the colour, but everything else is certainly in the plan.

I look forward to hopefully meeting a load of you at various shows as the year goes on, and look forward to sharing my progress, as well as following a lot of yours as I have been already.
