😍 awesome, what will you be competing in? Sent from my EDI-AL10 using Tapatalk

Well I suppose it's time that I officially introduced my newest weapon to tackle the Toyota Sprint Series with. As some of you may already know, I recently purchased a Gen 6 Toyota Celica ST202 which some of you will recognise. That's right, I'm the proud new owner of Pete's Celica Zombie Response Vehicle (a fellow TSS member) to do battle against Pete himself, Rich (Riceburner) and many more next year. Even though I had a blast competing against Mike, new comer Alex and also new comer Tomáš this year and finishing 4th in class N1 Street, after my 2nd track accident at the hands of Croft and even with people telling me how well I've handled my crashes, I don't think I could mentally handle a 3rd. Even after gaining more confidence after the final round at Snetterton and even after the recent CAT Driver Training course @ Millbrook Proving Ground which was a awesome as always, I think I've gotten to the point where I want to really compete and I don't think I could with my 86 for the fear of another accident in it. So I finally made the decision to get myself a dedicated sprint car specifically for the TSS since its extremely expensive to insure the 86 to compete in. Since Pete was selling his almost track ready Celica, it was the perfect opportunity to put my mind at ease with a car that I wouldn't have a problem binning which means I can hopefully push the car to its limits without too much worries. Not only that, but since the Celica is in class C Street, I feel I have a good chance to compete for 1st since there's no Lauren, Kevin or any other pro drivers in this class, there should be some very good battles next year. I will still be tracking my 86 as it's easy and cheap to get insurance for, it'll be a shame not to push such an awesome car and it's a shame I couldn't stick with a RWD car but I wanted to keep the spend to a minimum.....though I might add a couple of bits to the Celica 😋 BRING ON NEXT YEAR!!! FYI I know I'm probably not the best poster child for the TSS but it is a great event to take part in, it can be a safe place to learn about your Toyota without the worry about anything else, unlike track days, it's just you on track by yourself so no pressure from anyone else. If you're interested, please don't hesitate to ask. I've got a TRD LSD to fit at some point and I want to look into getting some new seats for the car since while wearing my crash helmet, I currently hit the roof which means racing slightly slouched or with a crooked neck. To help keep spend on this car down, I'm actually thinking of sticking the 86 seats into this which means I can get myself some nice fancy seats for the 86 (I said I'd keep the spend down on the Celica....never said anything about the 86 :P). The only other thing I really want to look at in the mean time is a brakes, after driving her hard at Donington last Monday, the brakes really don't fill me with confidence so might need to see what I can do to up rate them.

The aids can be intrusive depending on how you drive, if you are aggressive, they car kick in, say if you quickly change directions, the car will think that you are losing it and will intervene, but if you are driving smoothly, it'll let the rear slip a fair bit.

@TheWhiteWizard are you based in the UK?

No idea on the windscreen spoiler, Tarmac were selling a black one at some point not long ago.

If it goes off before you get there, just rag it, go through the full rev range in gear and it should pop back up.

Javelin trackday - Bedford GT - Friday 2nd December
Keethos replied to surrey86's topic in Social Meets
Sadly I won't be able to make this either....work's blown up and have no time to take time off -
Just want to clarify, trackday cover is charged at £45 per day and the excess is double your road excess, but otherwise correct, think the guys name is Adam and he's on the facebook group. Been great with them so far.

I have a set of 17" JR3's with the Yoko V105's on and have done numerous trackdays and sprints without any issues, great wheels for the price!
-
Nah, exactly the same mate, and I know some of the other owners of the Seibon bonnet are the same too.
-
Was a good meet, quite a few new faces, hope to meet and chat with you guys some more!
-
Welcome back dude, be good to catch up some time! Looking foward to your build too.
-
I've never driven your car neither Rob.....what's that all about? [emoji24]
-
I like it, to be fair I was thinking the same early on in my build process but went an easier route or painting most of the bonnet.
-
Congrats and welcome to the club, what have you got planned for your build?
-
Sorry to hear this dude, but good going on the other bits.

Agreed with Lauren, stock ones are prone to squeal, Toyota can offer you a softer compound pad but they're not that great on track I've heard. The stock ones aren't too bad if you're heavy on them, found that after a track session they stay quiet for a Lil while then come back again, plus found they go quiet a bit after the car gets washed but it would always come back so again like Lauren said, best bet is to get aftermarket pads instead.
-
I'm guessing here but I'd imagine both BBK will have problems with the stock wheels without spacers, diameter is fine, it's the face of the calipers that might foul the spokes. As for which is better, no idea, Adrian at Fensport run them on his race car and does very well with them, AP racing ones are good enough for Cosworth to stick their name on them.

GT86 Turbo Kit & BRZ Turbo Kit from Tuning Developments
Keethos replied to Mike@TD.co.uk's topic in Tuning Developments
Yes Ross, looking forward to hearing properly! -
In the market for a exhaust system - One that isn't too loud!
Keethos replied to Collateral's topic in Modifications
It's very difficult to say as you really have to hear the different exhausts live (video's don't often do them justice) but so far I haven't found anything that I like besides the Cobra exhaust I have but if I was to get a new 86 and need a new system, I'd personally go the custom route as what I've seen so far, they're not mega bucks like I thought they'd be, that way I could get them to make it sound exactly how I'd like it. The Cobra system has a very deep tone and even at high revs, it's not really that raspy which I'm not a fan of, I was going to get the Milltek as they sound nice at low revs (again the nice deep tone) but as soon as you rev it, you can really hear a raspy tinny rattly noise kick in which is what I'm not a fan of. -
Hey Dave! Glad you could join us at the CAT day and here on the drivers forum! It was good chatting to you and hopefully see you at more event.

They should do something, there is a bulletin to swap squeaky brakes for a less performance orientated pad so less squeak, but they might be up for copper greasing them up first before swapping them out. If you can find a quiet fast road somewhere, do some fast hard stops, I find that brakes remain quiet after a track day or fast country road driving so give that a try maybe.....though they can come back and start squeaking again.

You'll feel a lil clunk when engaging first when stationary from the diff which is normal I believe, recently I've been feeling that 1st from stationary can a be a lil stubborn but if you double clutch it it slots in fine. Not too sure what I'm hearing though from the video.

You tried Greenlight?

Yeah Red Dead would have been in production for a very long time now, especially if they plan on releasing next fall, a game of this magnitude wouldn't have only a year or two development and as Ross said, they're different studios so GTA wouldn't have had much influence on when Red Dead would have started production (granted that projects work load can be shared to other studios sometimes but it wouldn't normally take up all the resources of that studio). But I'm excited, some people seem to think that this is going to be a prequel and that the characters on the poster are characters from the previous Red Dead including John Marston so should be interesting story nevertheless. My only gripe with the previous game, which can't really be helped I suppose, was all the horse riding when needing to travel long distances, don't get me wrong, the gun fights and hunting on horse back was awesome, but when you needed to travel across the map a fair distance, I either found myself nodding off or fast travelling, whereas I never fast travelled in the GTA games. Also, they recently trademarked RedDead.Online and encouragingly Bully.Online so hopefully they do bring out another Bully game as I did enjoy that too.
