road remap rather than just sticking it on a Dyno and mapping in a simulated static environment.
Keethos replied to Mark@Abbey M/S's topic in Abbey Motorsports
I think knightryder has put it well in the sense that power is found on a dyno and drive-ability is found on the street, I should probably mention that I'm not chasing horse power here.....it's true that I wish to have the car dyno'd but that's purely to see how the car is performing with all the mods that I've had done out of curiosity. The car currently drives great so it won't matter too much to me how much horse power I get, as long as there is some sort of improvement, be it horse power or torque. But I wouldn't necessarily say that this was on the dyno tuning, more of on the road tuning with a dyno to check, where as what Mike mentioned, they tune on the dyno and check on the road. My comment definitely wasn't to belittle those who do tune on dynos, again I agree, it's a great tool to tune a car to suit the customer's characteristics, be it max power or max torque as an extreme example, where as my characteristic was more about a natural/balanced increase/boost which I thought on the road tuning suited best. And now that I've read the comments on the other thread, I still stand by my comments regarding on the road tuning and I don't believe a dyno was required at all for my tune, but that's because I was only after a basic tune, I've not changed anything significant to warrant cam tuning and what not. I can understand why you'd be annoyed with that comment Mark when people say this and they have had extensive work done, then yes, a dyno tune would the best solution but in my case where I haven't had any major internals changed, a dyno isn't necessary at all hence my comment from my original review. -
Shame dude...but keep us updated!

Sorry Mark, I hope I did not offend with my comment there, I could easily be talking out of my arse otherwise I'd be tuning cars myself But it's something that I've heard others say and it kinda makes sense but I can also definitely see the benefits of using a dyno too. It's definitely nice to visually see your tweaks and hard work and can tune to a certain characteristic using the dyno but in my mind it's more about the environment and feel of the car after you've tuned it. Some people might not have got a decent enough dyno system that gives enough or realistic air flow or something. But I agree, it is a safer environment, especially if you don't have decent or quiet enough roads to do it on. -
Any time Adrian, it was a good day. Jay, as I mentioned above, my experience with the positive shift kit so far is that it does seem to make a slight difference when pushing the car, it feels a bit more solid, a bit more assertive, almost like it locks into place now so it does become a lil stiffer but not notchy. I've yet to properly use it in vain, looking forward to my next trackday where I can properly let rip and see what all these bit and bobs have done for me.

RIP Paul Walker (Fast and Furious)
Keethos replied to Bumblebee's topic in Non GT86/BRZ General Chat
Where's the bloody "balling your eyes out" icon when you need one? Shocking....can't believe it....what's guna happen now in the 7th film that they've already started shooting? Proper gutted....don't care what people say, I enjoyed all the Fast & Furious films. -
So is this still happening then? I'll still be heading up to Tuning Development in the morning, if this is still on then I can linger around a bit more....if not....then I'll be heading straight home after the meet etc.

Awesome stuff Mark....but why so soon? I thought maybe you'd get it done this Saturday while we were all together....would have loved to see the install take place!

That's along old distance but I definitely want to do that.....or any other drift experience/lessons.....wonder if there are any ones nearer beside the car limit days. -
GT86 Drift Experience

Where and what exactly are these events? Are they bring your own GT86 or a dedicated drift around in someone's GT86 day? Also how much and how long? -
Those are some filthy cars....I love it

I'm pretty sure that if you want DAB on the OEM headunit, you need to purchase an add-on which includes a wire like aerial that is stuck down one side of your windscreen. The stock headunits are only DAB "Ready", which means they can play DAB as long as you purchase additional parts to get it working. I'm sure it's available but don't think it's cheap.

I'm pretty sure my dealer didn't fill the oil back up all the way, since I topped it up, it's not used a drop in the past couple of months. Luckily they gave me the remainder of the oil back so I can top it up myself.

Yeah, you'll find white stays white longer......as long as it's dry, as soon as it get's wet, then it looks bad. So even if there's a fine layer of dirt on the car, as long as it stays dry, it'll still look pretty clean where as on a black car, you can see that fine layers of dirt straight away.

Hey all, Just a couple of quick question that I'm hoping someone can help with. Firstly, does anyone roughly how much tread you get on a brand new set of tyres e.g. Primacy HP's or say Goodyear F1's? My fronts are down to 6mm each, my rear passenger side is down to 5 and my rear drivers side is down to 3 (off one cos I had 1 puncture not long ago). Should I replace just the 3mm tyre or both rears? There won't be an issue with having front Primacy's and rear Eagle F1's will there? Thanks
-
Then would it be more advisable to simply replace the 1 tyre that is down to 3mm with another Primacy then? I'll then have 2x 6mm treads, a 5mm tread and a new 8mm tread. Have the 8mm and 6mm on the back and then a 6mm and 5mm on the front?

Cheers dude, the scan that Alec posted up was a lil blurry

Well it's just for the winter period so will be driving steadily and when the weather get's bad, I'll be jumping into a Honda Jazz anyways. Then come spring, new alloys and tyres all round.

Awesome stuff....shame about the music

Maybe it's trying to say that your car is your Daddy....next time you start the car up, you're guna hear "WHO'S YA DADDY?"
-
I just wish there was a convenient button that could instantly lower the volume dramatically almost like a mute button but not full mute...just lower even that you can hear other people/things but still hear the music. It's easier enough to press pause but it's a faff tuning the volume down far enough and then back up again....especially when I have to return it back to exactly 25
