TSS Round 6 - 7th November 2015 - Cadwell Park
Keethos replied to Keethos's topic in Meets/Show & Shine - Pictures & Videos
It was a shame that we didn't get to do the mountain at the sprint, very entertaining....if you are in to butt twitching moments, last time I was there on a dry day, you'd go over the mountain and the car would wiggle it's back end and the traction control light would flash like mad....but I couldn't get up there quick enough to get all 4 wheels off, good work Keith -
TSS Round 6 - 7th November 2015 - Cadwell Park

Here are some of the pics I took at the Best Western Kenwick Park Lodges and at Cadwell Park during the final round of the Toyota Sprint Series, such an awesome weekend, we must organise an 86/BRZ weekend there with an open trackday at Cadwell.....it would be awesome! -
Lol at Direct Line, I'm sure they're not mod friendly and yet their advert has a debadged and a completely different sounding car which I find amusing. Most companies who aren't particularly mod friendly allow you to have a couple of mods (e.g. I was with esure and they were mega cheap for me, but would only allow 3 mods on the car).
-
Yes 10mm but only along the top of the arches, the rest returns back to stock form so fits up against other stock bits
-
@Tareim could be, never really thought about that. @Lauren sorry, I was referring to Alec getting more than those who were stock (myself included at the time) and even some of those from Litchfield, but it does seem that it is yourself who keeps on bringing up the fact that you got more than Jamie and myself without a remap. The way you write you posts does suggest that it is pointless if you don't gain hp, but you are comparing against different cars, yes it's good to get an idea on how you're car is doing compared to others but surely it's more about your own before and after. But as both of us has mentioned, your car was never dyno'd before all the mods so we have no idea how your car was performing stock so we don't know how much gains you've achieved from your current mods and we'll never know if you'll get any gains if you get a remap now unless you try it. Fair enough, if you aren't willing to risk money on the off chance that you won't gain anything from a remap which I highly doubt then that's your decision, but what I'm trying to say is don't let what Jamie and myself got on that dyno day deter you from trying it out. And also, I've never questioned the driveability of the stock car wasn't fine, but I'm definitely saying that the remap has improved it, but that's what I wanted, if it's not what you want, fair enough.
-
@Lauren I think you are getting way too caught up on what Jamie and I got on our dynos compared to yours, as we all know each car is different and a great example is Alec with only an air filter was getting more than all of us. Have you actually had your car dyno'd when completely stock, no, so who's to say that you car wasn't performing better than ours when completely stock and with your current mods have happened to push yours higher than myself and Jamie? I did test my car with also just a drop in air filter and then once again after the exhaust and remap and I did see gains: Yes, since then I've had another remap with some tweaks to the map (and I still think that there's a possibility that my crash may have affected the car in some way or another) and it has dropped a couple of hp but that doesn't prove that remaps are pointless and again, at no point has anyone said that they'd WANT to make less power, I'm just not moaning about it like some other people might because as I said, my goal was never to chase after hp, I'm more about the drive-ability.

They need changing??? I thought that you just give them a quick blast with an airline would suffice.....best get mine out and check as it's been in there for a good 40odd thousand miles me thinks

Is the air con on or anything? Does sound a bit weird that.

[MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS] Watched this the other week, thought it was alright but somethings did really bug me about the film, like as Captain Duff mentioned, they talk about agent 009 but you don't see or get to know anything about the person, the plot was very very predictable, Christoph Waltz was seriously under utilised, such an amazing actor and he seem to play a rather tame, small villain, I get all the shadow and suspense but it just made his part seem so small but what gets me the most is that James and the bond girl seem to all of a sudden fall madly in love after the terrible start etc, enough for him to, what seems like, leave the service.....also, not enough gadgets!!!

Not sure how much you'll notice just having the 2nd CAT removed, it'll probably be a bit louder but not sure you'll feel the difference. The rear lights is a good start but the sad part is that you'll hardly ever see them, especially if you get the smoked versions as they just looked black out and can't appreciate the design unless the car is on, but it's aways nice following someone with them on As for the remap, you'll probably notice the most difference with it but you might not get massive gains depending on who you get to remap it. My map hasn't netted me higher numbers at the top end but has improved the mid range so the car does feel like it pulls more. But like others have said, usually best to get it mapped once you've had all your other mods, but that's only to save yourself time and money, I've had 2 maps so far because I've added bits to the car since the first map as well as wanting to map certain things out like the high idling start up, I'll eventually have another remap when I eventually get a new manifold. Yes I've technically wasted money by getting the car tuned a couple of times on the road where as I could have saved myself a couple of hundred pounds if I had waited but where's the fun in that, I do whatever I can do enjoy the car as much as I can. Some cheap alternatives for you, a positive shift mount for your gear box, only about £30-40 and it makes the feel of the gear changes more solid, more...well....positive as the name suggests. The other thing to consider which I think you have been looking for but don't know if you've purchased yet but a drop in air filter, you get a bit more induction noise and we've seen gains of 6bhp on a dyno day before.....but again, not sure you'll feel the difference though.

Tuning Developments Open Day - 01/11/15
Keethos posted a topic in Meets/Show & Shine - Pictures & Videos
Another pretty good turnout at a somewhat joint 86/BRZ club meet between primarily Drivers Club members and some of the Owners Forum members but this time over at Tuning Developments in Warrington at their new premises. Sadly not everyone turned up annoyingly as there were a lot of names down (about 30odd where as only about half turned up). A big thanks to Mike Jones, Nick Mad Scientist Jones and their boys at Tuning Developments for hosting the open day. There was sausages and burgers on the go, bevies and brews as well as dyno sessions on their Dyno Dynamics rolling road dyno. Not only that, but they were also offering people a ride in their newly developed turbo charger kit with their screamer pipe which just sounds mental when on full chat, a very nice piece of kit! P.S. Sorry for those who've I've missed pictures off, I did most of them in one go so those who weren't around or arrived late I'm sorry. -
Donington Park - Lotus on Track - 29/10/15
Keethos replied to Keethos's topic in Meets/Show & Shine - Pictures & Videos
Thanks Keith, I was only that confident because of the initial tuition I had, once the instructor showed me the lines, I could then focus on getting the speed down and build on my confidence, and thanks for the tip on one of the corners, didn't notice anyone else cutting that curb like we did. -
Donington Park - Lotus on Track - 29/10/15

Thursday was my first time back on a proper track (besides Curborough but that was a small sprint circuit) with the Lotus on Track guys and what a track, Donington Park is a pretty epic track, not as amazing as Cadwell but still a very good track, just a shame about the weather. Very nervous to begin with but after a bit of tuition and learning the lines, I quickly got into it again. No off's at all for me, ran a lil wide a couple of times but it was mega wet and I wasn't feeling the brakes. Sometimes didn't feel like it wanted to stop, as mentioned before, there's nothing to begin with, then some good progressive braking until it eventually stops but did feel like if I pressed harder, it would normally stop more, which is fine on the road since I never really needed to stamp on them, but on track, I soon discovered that it sometimes didn't want to stop even when harder on the brakes so might need to do something about the brake fluid or even changing the pads. But since I was taking it relatively easy due to the wet weather, it wasn't too bad. Videos to follow when I get round to compiling them. Some other pics can be found here - https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10153900467867018&set=pcb.10153900478737018&type=3&theater -
Nope, everything was on (how can you see its in sport mode?) and I definitely wouldn't say I was going "way too fast", from watching your vid from your car, you too took that corner at one point same wrong racing line but it looked a lot quicker in your vid and you were perfectly fine. I was just unlucky, yes I was going a bit too fast and definielty the wrong line (as you can see I was over taking Will but didn't want to cut him up) but not just that, the track was littered with rubber marbles from the drift cars before us and all 3 added together meant the car just didn't want to turn.

Looks awesome dude, my 2 pence is that the car now needs a lil more of that grey, say the lower part of the wing mirrors that were black but now white.

I brought my 86 when it was first release so no real discounts at all (though I did get a lil due to buying another car literally a couple of months before hand). Subaru were saying 9 months for a BRZ so didn't bother looking any further, plus preferred the look of the 86.

Northern Meet/Open Day @ Tuning Developments
Keethos replied to Mike@TD.co.uk's topic in Tuning Developments
I can understand why someone would expect less power (Adrian's Celiac was detuned by customer request after he sold it) but I never said I expected it to happen, just saying it might have been from either the remap and questioned if the crash could had caused anything. -
Tuning Developments Open Day - 01/11/15

Hopefully Mike will organise another one at some point in the near future -
Well, modding continues after my car's great return to her former glory. As you may already know, I've been meaning to get a set of wheels for a long time now (since I picked the car up 3 years ago pretty much) and even though I've got my mind fixed on a set of Gram Lights, I've purchased something else for the time being. The car's glorious return also includes her return to the track too (besides the bit of sprinting I did at Curborough) and while feeling nervous still about getting back on track, I was feeling a bit paranoid about going on track with spacers on the stock wheels. So I've gone and brought a set of Japan Racing JR3's thanks to Chris @ Tarmac Sportz in 17x8 et35 and thanks to Richard @ RRG for wrapping them in a set of 215/45R17 Yoko Advan v105's. In my opinion, the wheels are still too small for my liking but since they're only for track use, I can live with them being 17's rather than going 18's as they save me about 0.5kg per wheel over stock. They feel great, with a slightly wider wheel and a bit of stretch on the tyres, they seem more grippier and more responsive with a heavier steering feel, I just need to stay on my toes as they sometimes feel a lil edgy like they will break traction very suddenly. I'll be adding a decal to one spoke off each wheel once I get round to scanning a wheel and designing the decal.

Looking good Rob, I'm with Nigel on the new white, if I hadn't gone yellow, I would have gone a brighter white, the 86 white is a pretty good white but still very typical Japanese white which is often a more off white colour compared to say European car companies who use a more brighter white.
