What he said, to see how they sit offset wise....what was the offset again? How was the 2.0 sport?
-
Awesome stuff Jeff, love the look of them....any chance of a side profile to see how far out they sit?

I've actually managed to get a quote this time through Greenlight Insurance, they're a lil more expensive than Sky (my renewal if about £530 where as Greenlight want £595 roughly) but if you want to go on track, you ring up, pay £45 for the day and excess is only double your normal excess. So after a single track day, I would have almost paid less overall (i.e. stick with Sky for £530, pay say £150 for a days track day insurance which means paying about £680 where as if I go with Greenlight, pay £595 plus the £45 for the days track day insurance, that's only about £640) and instead of say 10% excess (which would be about £1500), you'd pay £600 instead.....so very tempting. Just a shame they don't cover sprints. They said over the phone that they cover all UK tracks except for Castle Combs. Also got a quote from Competition Car Cover who can supply insurance for normal road use and trackdays but I'm not sure I applied correctly, their website is a lil.....pants, they offer a load of different insurance products and you have to download a form for one of them and e-mail it through. Well I got a quote back nonetheless and they want £1,165 for only up to 8,000 miles (where as I need at least 15,000) and up to 5 track days (2 can be in europe though) and it's £75 for additional days.......maybe no then.

CHRIS KNOTT INSURANCE :: 0800 917 2274
Keethos replied to ChrisKnottIns's topic in Insurance Companies
Sadly Chris Knotts weren't able to get anywhere near my renewal but it was a pleasure getting a quote from them, being able to PM Nick a word document with all my personal details, insurance details and mods, shortly after I got a phone call just to ask me a couple of questions that I missed out the details of within my document, a couple of days later, another call to give me the quote, nice and simple. -
Mark from Abbey Motorsports has done it and offers them on an exchange scheme I believe i.e. part exchange yours for one that has already been gutted, no idea how much and can't remember the gains though.

I have to agree with most of what Jeff said there except for the back end bit, didn't step out once, even I thought it would in certain situations, e.g. booting it with full lock didn't make the back end chirp a bit unlike the 86 and even on a slightly too fast bend which ended with a bit of trail braking to get around it again no problems. I did want the 2.0 Sport but sadly they didn't have any left so had to jump into a 1.5 Sport instead. It was quick off the line and loved to be rev'd but it did quickly run out of puff, proper light that setting off was quick but not quick enough to give me any confidence in overtaking, especially with Jeff behind, a lot of the times it felt like only 1 of us would make the over take so during my drive time, only really over took 1 car on a pretty long down hill straight. As Jeff mentioned, steering wasn't great, it felt like it turned in well but there was no feel at all in the wheel and what caught me out to begin with was how little auto centring the wheel had, had to quickly correct the steering otherwise I'd end up driving the wrong way. What I also didn't like the was that the steering wheel felt pretty large and for some people, the lack of telescopic adjustment might be a problem for some people. What I really didn't like the most was the ride, done get me wrong, it soaked up the bumps and everything nicely, but because of the soft suspension, the car waddled a lot, the car really liked to rock about that when coming out of a corner and you are trying to straighten the steering wheel, it often felt like the rear was still trying to roll over which felt a bit weird and unsettling. I too didn't like the pedals, it felt a bit cramped in there and awkward to toe heel, might have had something to do with the gas pedal was hinged at the bottom while the brake (and clutch) hinged at the top, I just found my heel either didn't press the gas pedal properly or it would clip/catch the trim around that area. What I also found awkward was the position of the door in relation to the drivers seat, I think the door is positioned too far back while the seat was too close to the curved bottom rear edge of the door if that makes sense, made it feel like I had to stretch/lean back to get out of the car (though could just be me not being able to get out of the car very gracefully....probably not flexibly enough for the car ). The seats were nice and supportive though and loved the speakers in the head rest for your phone etc. Having never really driven a convertible before, it was nice to poot around the towns/villages with the top down but it wasn't great at high speeds, still a fair bit of wind and what not even with the rear deflector screen so not really sold on convertibles, plus there's just not enough nice weather for it, but it was refreshing and a nice experience while dreading to think what proper winter would be like. The car sounded nice, not much noise from the engine at all, primarily exhaust note which wasn't bad actually, but not really loud enough for my liking. But what I did like was the gear stick, nice short crisp gear changes with a pretty low bighting point. To me, would work great for a boring daily drive where you are taking not a lot with you or no one else, not really my cup of tea as a weekend car, not extreme or dramatic enough for me.

Hi all, Just wanted to ask what people's opinions and hopefully someone from one of the insurance companies to answer. As I had a slight off last year while on track, obviously I'm not covered under my normal road insurance, but since I use the car for business, I was advised by the boss to let Sky know what damaged I've caused. Because this wasn't a road accident and no claim was made, when I apply for new quotes, should I still be declaring this as an accident? Because I told Sky of my accident, they have mentioned it in my renewal letters in the "Accidents and Losses" section, quoting that it was an accident, the date and then "Yes" under the "Claim on Proposer's Policy" which doesn't sound right to me but then they've put in the "Description" "notification purposes only no vehicle involved hit object (tiles)" which should have been tyres but hay ho, anyways, not too sure why it ways yes under the claim bit but they have said last year that it hadn't affect my premium in anyway, just wondering if I need to mention this to the other insurance companies I get quotes from. Thoughts? Keith

Declaring accidents that weren't on the road?
Keethos replied to Keethos's topic in Insurance Companies
It was more the worry of if I did have a road accident after the track incident, I might have voided my insurance for not mentioning it etc. My worry now is whether these details will be passed onto whoever I get my next insurance with from Sky. But that's what I would think anyways however they ask if you have had any accidents, whether you claimed or not or whether anyone else was involved or not..... -
Prestige Keep Moving Insurance Scheme
Keethos replied to Tim@Prestige's topic in Insurance Companies
Hi Tim, Since I have a relatively large list of modifications and to make sure that I don't miss anything out, is there any chance I could e-mail through a word document with all my details which will then list all my modifications in or do I have to do it all over the phone? -

2013 Blue GT86, NO LONGER AVAILABLE
Keethos replied to Qu1ckn1ck's topic in For Sale GT86 / BRZ Cars
[emoji17] sorry to see you leave, all the best with the sale. -
Welcome to the club, hope you get one sorted soon! Another reason the 86 gets negative comments it's because of its pub facts, it's numbers just doesn't do it justice, it's all about handling, feel, the fun it offers, not it's bhp and torque figures or its 0-60 times (which for some reason Toyota have been relaxed on, it can get quicker than the 7.6s or whatever they quote). For the money, yes you can get a shopping kart that is quicker but in my opinion, no where near as fun to drive.

Dan from Adrian Flux Insurance Services
Keethos replied to DAN@ADRIAN FLUX's topic in Insurance Companies
Hi Dan, I forgot to ask while I was getting a quote from you guys but do existing Adrian Flux customers get special rates with your Track Day Insurance policies? And besides trackdays, do you insure people who want to take part in the Toyota Sprint Series? Thanks. -
Adrian Flux - September Competition
Keethos replied to DAN@ADRIAN FLUX's topic in Insurance Companies
Just got a quote from Natalie, not actually gone with it yet as I've only just started to look, not even got my renewal through yet. Does it make a difference that I got put through to Adrian Flux via CConnection rather than calling Adrian Flux direct? -
You do lose a bit of quality, even if you upload 1080p vids, I think the bit rate is heavily reduced or something. Tested and mentioned this on here when I first got my dash cam. But back on topic, thanks Ian for letting me have a go, it was awesome! I really want to go FI.....lots of choices choices choices.....unlike my bank balance [emoji30]

Lol, sorry Jeff, my tap talk app seems to just take me to the last couple of posts and missed that earlier posts, when will you get them on? I'll swing by and slap the black and yellow wheels on mine to have a look how they look on my car [emoji12]
