Just a note with insurance, you are usually looking around the £150 mark for the day, but then you need to pay an excess of about 10% of your vehicle value if you were to claim, so if you cause damage greater than about £2k worth then it'll be worth it. Obviously people will say that as long as you drive sensibly and within your own limits then you'll be fine and 90% of the time they'd be correct, but sh*t can happen and all of a sudden you could fine yourself in an accident, even when you weren't really push the car at all. If you know you could cover the costs of repair without insurance then you'd be find without, but I know that I'll be getting insurance for certain tracks whenever I can after my past track incident. It took me just over a year to save up enough money to repair my car.

Awesome mate, how does it sound now? Missing the loudness yet?
-
Couldn't agree more, they really know their stuff simply by watching you and not needing to be in the car with you. Love how much detail and technical info they give you when telling you to do something rather than just telling you to do it. Need to get on and do some of the other ones but def want to do more drifting [emoji16]

Quality of the company more like [emoji12] Give the whole wrapping game a go Matt, I've given it a couple of tries, it's tricky and I've yet to manage a perfect wrap on the some of the bits but just be patient with it and have a heat gun to hand.

Wrapping bottom section of rear bumper
Keethos replied to Gringosteve's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
From what little wrapping I've been doing, I'd hate to tackle that, it's guna be a major ballache as it's so low down, get it lifted and it won't be too bad but you might struggle to get a decent edge around the areas between the coloured area and the none coloured area of the bumper as I believe that it's all one piece so you won't be able to wrap around and tuck the wrap away, instead you'll have to try and trim it neatly and hope it doesn't start to lift as dirt etc gets in there. That and you'll have to have a mega clean area to work on and even then it might not adhere very well as the plastic is textured. -
Ummm how many of you were on the Tarmac stand for Japfest 1? And how many on our stand? Sorry Matt [emoji13]

Congrats and welcome to the club! Hopefully see you at Japfest 2 so do pop over to see us, don't worry about visiting them 2 on the Tarmac Sportz stand though [emoji12]

Well, it's be a lil over a year since I was last on track after that fateful day, but last Thursday, I popped my cherry again and ventured back on track once more. Not only that, it was also my first time taking part in the Curborough Sprint and Trackday with Deason, Faith, Mike and Will300. I was nervous to begin with as you'd expect but I eventually got back into the swing of things. I was quite chuffed with my performance that day, my very first run ever was a 1:38.6 I think which was pretty good for a complete noob there, and I'm surprised I remembered the circuit as even though Curborough is a rather small circuit, you don't just do a simple lap, instead you do one full lap followed by a figure of 8 which isn't the simplest route to remember while you're fighting your nerves and trying to get a quickish lap in without crashing your car again. To the point where during my second lap, I genuinely thought I had cocked up the route half way through, backed off....then realised that I hadn't cocked the circuit up and had just wasted some time instead, but I still managed to get my time down by 2 seconds, then another 2 seconds the run after that and I continued to improve after that. I eventually got down to a 1:33.3 which I couldn't get past, I would hover or get a lil higher than that which to be fair I would have been happy with considering I wasn't far behind the more experienced lot in our group, but on my last run, I some how managed to pull one out of the bag and banged a 1:32.2 which was .3 seconds quicker than Mike's best time. Obviously it's not completely fair cos he has a complete stock car while I have a fair amount of mods and grippier tyres but at the same time, he's been to this circuit quite a few times before so has had a lot more practice that me. Deacon managed a whopping 1:30.9 with a similar amount of major mods on his car but he does have stickier tyres compared to me and again, he's had a lot more practice too, but I'm sure if he can do it, I can do it too.....at some point All in all, a very good day and the weather stayed nice and sunny too. Also, since fitting my HSD Coilovers and the K-Sport BBK, I've not had a proper chance to test the car out until now and I must say, I'm very happy with the results. The car handled very well, it felt planted with a bit of slip at the back (though this is impart because I'm running low on tread on the rears), which felt very progressive and at no point did I feel the rear was getting skittish in any way which I was worried about when I first fitted the coilovers, it even soaked up the rumble strips very well. The brakes also performed very well, but a sprint doesn't really push them that far, the real test will be a long track session at some point and see if they start to fade after 10-20min sessions. Though what I did notice when they cool down is that they make a right loud tinging noise (a lot louder than the normal tinging noise when your car is cooling down), almost like metal cracking or a stone hitting the discs really hard.....I'm hoping this is normal.....

Hmmmm, maybe they've not bother to change all the labels and stickers etc at some of the pumps.
-
I could have sworn that I've seen 98RON written on the pumps somewhere, ah well.
-
Because we primarily only use 98ron if from shell? Only Tesco uses 99ron and people have said it's not very good fuel.

Is he tweaking a UK map or an American map and is there that much of a difference?
-
Forgive my lack of knowledge but what does the 150 250 and 350 bit mean?

Congrats and welcome to the club! Yay to another fellow midlander [emoji16]

Cool, I'll close this for you, let us know if you need it reopening. -
And just over a year ago, we were hearing things like Toyota reducing the number of cars being brought into the UK so Subaru were guna take their share and start to sell more BRZ's, but it seems like Toyota have committed and decided to bring out more variants and are continuing to sell more 86's where as Subaru haven't done anything at all yet in the UK, it's been so long since the talks of STi versions which turned into Ts version tuned by STi but still nothing yet.

Wedding for me afraid, plus a few people will be going to Simply Japanese that day too
-
Congrats and welcome to the club! Aug wait isn't guna be too bad but it's still guna drag. Any plans for the car at all? Mods, trackdays, shows etc?
-
You don't have to but that method produces much stronger carbon fibre parts or what some people call dry carbon fibre
-
There's plenty of vids on YouTube, one specifically for removing front headlamps wish needs the whole front end removing. If you haven't done so already, checkout ebay for headlamps as there are quite a few on there now, still can't believe that I actually picked one up for £46 considering most on there now are a couple of hundred.

Awesome stuff Mike, hope you get it sorted soon....wish these guys were breaking parts a year ago
-
You've got 2 possible leads, contact Nigel Charman from GPRM who might have some spare stock parts that you might need, the other is the guys who race the Evo estate at the TSS events (think they're call Jap Parts or something). Ask Mas, he'll know who I'm on about, they were at Goodwood with HKS sharing a stand. They're buying in wrecked GT86 and breaking them for parts.
