Welcome to the club! Glad you've stepped out of the shadows and decided to get involved, we're all a nice bunch, honest [emoji12] What specs did you get and any plans for her? Mods, trackdays, shows etc?
-
Congrats James and welcome to the club. That's a good waiting time but you'll still be crawling up the walls...I knew mine was at my dealership but I actually asked if they could keep hold of it for an extra couple of weeks as my current insurance company wouldn't cover me due to the price of the car which was rediculous for a specialist. But I caved and brought a couple of weeks temporary insurance in the end [emoji14] so best of luck with you wait Any plans for the car at all? Mods, trackdays, shows etc?

Awesome stuff and I'm sure I've already said this but welcome to the club, I look forward to your mods!

Does the Sprintex run out of steam at the top end? Aren't people who are doing the twin charged with the Avo and the Sprintex using the Sprintex for it's top end and the Avo for its low down performance? I originally thought it would have been the other way round but I'm sure I was mistaken in the end.
-
Even though the Sprintex can get 280bhp easy enough people like Rob are suffering from heat issues when used hard for too long like on trackdays. Think Turbo isn't as bad....but then again, maybe it's just down to more people used to and liking the feel of turbos over superchargers maybe?

Personally not a fan of Mini's, I respect them in the sense that they do handle well and have the cool Works versions but I dislike everything about the brand, much like I respect the tech Apple offer but again hate everything about the brand (and to me the 2 go hand in hand). It's primarily the "oh every else has one so I have to have one" mentality that bugs me. But not just that, I learnt how to drive in a Mini and there were quite a few niggles that bugged me about the car, like you couldn't see where you were going when turning left as the rear view mirror was sooooo big, the central odometer being funky an all but totally impractical and dangerous if you ask me. Yes you can see a digital speed on the small display but that would disappear and be replaced by a massive fuel icon if you were running low on fuel, and I don't like how massive the car is on the outside and then how tiny the inside is, massively thick doors......but that's enough of me ranting (sorry), let us know how your mother gets on with the mini.

Why the sale Tim? -
Don't forget to mention that even though it felt nicer than OEM, there was still hardly any roll when going around corners, though like you said, it could have been the anti roll bars. Either way, an awesome setup.

How does that work Mr ECUTek [emoji12] and what's the other alternative?

I was on O2 for a while but got really poor to no signal out in the sticks of Southam, so I went to Orange and got a bit better signal out there but for some reason, got really poor signal in my home (where O2 was very strong in the house). So then I changed to Giffgaff which have been alright, pay as you go but you can buy goody bags each month for example I pay £15 a month which gives you the benefits of a monthly contract (but you can opt out at anytime) such as unlimited text, 500 mins of talk and 3gb of data or depending on which goody bag you buy. Now Giffgaff piggy backs off O2 I believe which is fine again my my house but on the odd occasion, it will say I have H, H+ and even 4g at times but still get nothing coming through data wise which can be annoying.

Warranty remains got the parts that you haven't replaced or that are not directly affect by e.g. changing exhaust means no toyota warranty cover on the new exhaust system but you are still covered on everything else e.g. interior etc, and even engine issues assuming they can't trace the fault back to the new exhaust. But this will heavily depend on your local dealer, they might say that you've lost your warranty completely but that's not true, it might just be that they don't want the job/hassle. As for the Toyota Sprint Series, it's a Sprint ran by Adrian @ Fensport, Javelin trackdays and Toyota RRG at various tracks primarily down the east coast of England. Check out the TSS section in events.

Lol, and here's me thinking you were doing all the work yourself, but you're forcing the young-uns to do your handy work for you? [emoji38] Awesome stuff though, can't wait too see it in action!

Congrats and welcome to the club. As people have already mentioned, arm rest is a must for me now, it just feels perfect position wise. I don't mind the gear knob so never looked and again, you shouldn't have any issues with a 2nd cat delete that a fair few people have already done. The only other quality of life item I'd have to get if I was to get another 86 would be a reversing camera. Rear visibility isn't bad when looking straight back but you can't see the lower stumps and walls, and it's difficult to gauge how far back because you can't see the edge of the rear at all.

Toyota Sports Day 2015
Keethos replied to chillismoke's topic in Meets/Show & Shine - Pictures & Videos
As I mentioned briefly in the original post, it was such an awesome day, even though it was wet, it was still amazing fun, if anything, the rain added to the fun in some cases too. The day consisted of 4 teams; Andon (my team in Black with Jamie_gt86), Genchi Genbutsu (Blue which had Kesler?, SkallyB and Smudge), Poka-Yoke (Grey which had nikndel and knightryder) and Kaizen (Red which had Deacon and Tareim), competing in 4 different events. The rest of the team members were other randomers but each team had roughly 10 people, Toyota picked 40 people to attend out of 100's of applicants, sadly not all 40 turned up, but this was good for the other visitors as they got a chanced to take part as well. Most of the other members were also enthusiasts, people from MR2 clubs, Celica clubs etc. The four events were: Egg and Spoon - It’s an old favourite, but instead of a small spoon with a normal sized egg, we had a giant spoon mounted to the front of a Toyota Auris Hybrid with a giant egg (with was just a blow-up fitness ball. We had to drive the Auris Hybrid around a twisty track with a partner who would need to jump out at a moments notice to retrieve the egg if it was to fall off, the once you've done one lap, you would need to quickly swap drivers and do another lap while being timed (though not too fast that you forget to turn the car off and allow the car to roll on Smudge ). Penalty Shoot Out - Each contestant had roughly 2 1/2 minutes to score as many goals as possible, Top Gear style, which meant jumping into an Toyota Aygo to ram/punt a giant sized blow-up football into a goal only slightly bigger than the football itself. Though nikndel managed to kill the ball pretty much at the start of the day....luckily there were spares Balance the Ball - Similar to the Egg and Spoon but this time the drivers jump into a Toyota Hilux and navigate a course off road (just on grass). But instead of an egg at the front of the car, instead the blow-up ball is suspended on a net in the truck’s bed, and the aim is to finish the course without the ball bouncing out of the bed in the shortest time. Auto Test - Drivers jumped into a Toyota GT86 and had to drive around a tight course made of cones which consisted of hair pin turns, donuts and slaloms. 2 practice runs and then a timed run with everything turned off....while the course was wet....which mean awesome fun and awesome drifts! While this was going on, people could grab a ride along with 2 drivers who drove a Toyota GT86 around the airfield track, getting upto 130mph and going sideways around corners. And then right at the end of the day, they hosted a Who's Fastest contest, each contestant (no longer in teams) would have 1 practice run and then a timed run around a very small auto test course in a GT86. Jamie_gt86 thought we were killing it on the egg and spoon race....we both had a clean run with a 4:27 run I think....but turns out Deacon's team somehow managed a 4:01 run in the afternoon As for the Auto Test, I had a really good 2nd practice run of roughly 33.6 seconds, but on my actual timed run, I over cooked a donut and span out which added 6.5 seconds to my previous time so I ended up with a 40.1 second run which I'm gutted about Next we did the Balance the Ball in the Hilux, again me and Jamie partnered up and we both had clean runs (2 runs each, fastest timed counted). Jamie managed a 45.94 I think while I only managed a 47 something, but I was feeling sick as while we went around, the whole time I would be looking backwards to make sure the ball was stable and in position to speed up etc. Reckon our team won this event And last of all, the Penality Shootout didn't actually counted in the end as it was too windy and difficult, some people didn't even managed to score a single goal, but I think I managed 4 or 5, but at this point it was just full power, punt and wish for the best as there was no real aim due to the wind and the uneven ground etc as you were on wet grass...which also meant lots of wheel spin....and in turn this resulted in me stalling the call embarrassingly as I tried to slowly set off. As for the final Auto Test, I didn't even get to find out my time, they just announed the top 8 which then did another run for the top 4 and then a final showdown between the top 2. I messed up cos I went wide and ended up spinning the back end out onto the grass and full side ways drift back onto the tarmac which added time to my run But still an awesome time, such an epic day, it was more about the taking part and I loved being able to rag an 86 around a course with everything turned off. Drifting around cones without worrying about damaging my own car as it was Toyota's instead, awesome time. The Silverstone Staff and Toyota GB staff who organised and hosted this event were all awesome, each person got a team T-Shirt, breakfast, drinks and snacks throughout the day as well as a team themed packed lunch! Can't thank them enough for such an awesome day. We were told that Toyota do this each year overseas so let's hope they continue this here and they organise another event next year!- 18 replies

Banzai Mag Japfest write up about the club
Keethos replied to remal's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Not read the article but I've seen the tweet they posted up, my colleague at work searched for Keith GT86 Yellow to show his kid my car and actually stumbled across a picture of my car, a James Loves commented on the tweet about my car along with links to my facebook albums of it. -
How much for a new rear bumper sprayed
Keethos replied to Gringosteve's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
I'm not too sure Steve but there's a couple of rear bumpers on ebay if you wanted to look for second hand ones, or contact Rich @ RRG and he can give you a quote easy enough. -
