Wow that was quick, awesome work. Let us know if this falls through and you need it reopening.

I thought the 86 wasn't developed at the ring cos what's his face wasn't interested in lap times etc, it was all about the drive?
-
Oh so you can just buy the new charger on its own, but your getting the whole kit again just to sell it with the old charger? What else will you be changing internally?
-
Most probably, then you could get an impact gun in there to loosen the bolt.
-
No idea sorry Nik

Turning Development struggle to get my crank pulley off, even Rich from RRG struggled but they eventually prevailed. They couldn't stop the engine from turning or something.
-
Yeah but with red caliper at the front, it'll look wrong with stock grey rears [emoji30]

What other marques are you all into?

Hmmmm meh....that one of the lightweights version? Hear how Jag are creating 8 more of them for a million odd each....but the other owners are calling the copies and not allowing them to join them on track and stuff? Bit harsh considering they are built by and exactly like the originals....supposed costing a mill and a bit for a brand new one would worry the original owners who value theirs at 5 mill..... -

Another Renault guy here, started off in a Ford KA for a year straight to a Clio 200 for almost 3 years before changing to the 86. Was close to getting a Megane RS 250 (or 265 can't remember which verison now) but their promise of 4 years 0% finance with only a 30% deposit went out the window for a 50% (or was it 60% can't remember) deposit when I wanted to order.....so I told them to do one and had a look at the 86. Wasn't wowed by the test drive but it rapidly grew on me. Like Ztox, the new Clio is a real disappointment, the 5 doors isn't that big of a deal for me but I know lots of people who hate it because of it, going Turbo again not that big of an issue for me as I've never had a Turbo before but purest again hated the car for it but what really gets me is no wide arches like the previous 2 RS' so now you can't really tell it's an RS, no manual, just flappy paddles, the hike in price and last of all....the stupid exhaust sound generator....we're not talking engine noise piped into the cabin, I'm talking stereo sounds of different cars, GTR's, V6's etc....things you'd expect from a bloody electric car....but it's not an electric car.....WHAT'S THE POINT? Not really an old classic guy, can't see the hype about E-Types, prefer the look of the 2000GT (more proportional), but do like a really old Mustang or AC Cobra, which leads me to wanting an American Muscle car at somepoint (or at least hiring one like a new Camero ) for their big engines....I know they'll handle terribly. I'm more of a modern/future car guy, your typical Supercars with Aston Martin Vanquish being the first car I'd buy as my daily while I hunted down Koenigsegg on some sort! -
Sorry to go slightly off topic but both Alec and now GT86Owner has managed to burn the engine paint off their front calipers....would it be fair to say this wouldn't occur for the rears since most of the stopping power comes from the front calipers?
-
That actually looks pretty cool, next question is which one is the most haunted
-
Wow.....wonder if that was self inflicted engine explosion or weather it was a Molotov Cocktail
-
Ah right so stock can theoretically reach 168mph but in reality only reach 140mph.....so with your final drive, your theoretical top speed is now 148mph.....what does that also mean in reality still reach 140mph?
-
Sorry for the confusion, for some reason I thought stock max speed was about 140mph anyways.....didn't realise it was 160odd

So after a night of photoshopping, here's what I've come up with: 1) Gram Lights 57FXX Really difficult to find a decent picture as they always come out really really black. 2) Gram Lights 57FXX with Red Highlights Bit of playing around 3) Gram Lights 57FXX with Yellow Highlights 4) Gram Lights 57Getter Shame the photo I was using has the wheels a lil blurry and no red calipers 5) Rota Grid Drifts Black with Yellow Club Sticker Starting to like these again after this lil experiment but equally still love the look of the Gram Lights and lastly a wild card: 6) Rota Grid Drifts Gold with Black Club Sticker I know, a bit of a wacky one but thought I'd give it a try.....and it doesn't actually look to bad to me. Update on thoughts now that you can see my yellow with the wheels?
-
Awesome stuff....but doesn't this new final drive lower the max speed?
-
Hmmmm, to me it felt like the Stoptechs produced more brake dust than the stock ones. Maybe you need to hammer them more Lauren. But like Lauren said, they offer good initial bite and usually stop pretty well.....though the only track time I've had them for was Lydden and you know how that ended.....but I must stress it WASN'T because of the pads. The only problem I had with them as I mentioned this weekend Mike was that they sometimes felt like they didn't want to stop, I hoped it was because they hadn't been ran in yet but even after almost a year, on the odd occasion when pushing hard, they didn't feel like they wanted to stop, seriously had to bury the pedal to finally stop. Note, they are pretty cheap compared to other pads including stock pads.

@Tilly - Nice, your wheels sound interesting, got any pics? I actually had this idea originally but slowly grew out of it: and this was roughly my aim: but things happened and it never came to be. Again I'll give this idea a try again with some photoshopping but I'm not holding breath....then again it'll be a lot cheaper than going Gram Lights. @ Lauren - again I'd love to go proper TE37SL Black Editions: but as Ztox has already mentioned, we're talking mega bucks, I think RareRims quoted about £2k or something for all 4 and I doubt any will pop up 2nd hand anytime soon. Plus, from the pics I've seen, they still don't seem as concaved as Rotas, but sadly have no real way to compare. @Varelco - probably 18x9.5J which comes as ET40 all round, a couple of reasons for this, a) 9.5J is the only size you get the Face 2 look which is the more concaved look, b ) Because of the Seibon front wings being 10mm wider, I need wider wheels to fill the arches more and c) Possibly planning ahead for FI maybe. First wheel is a 19x8.5J Face 1 wheel and 2nd is 19x8.5J Face 2 wheel, sadly 18" only has a Face 2 design for a 9.5J wheel.

Congrats! You can get the arm rest from your dealer as its an OEM part but might be cheaper from any number of our venders!
-
Congrats and welcome to the club! Got any plans for the car at all? Mods, shows, trackdays? To me, it feels like most of the owners are either north or south, not that many around the Midlands.

How did we not have more entries....what's wrong people? -
Yeah but everyone has the Rota Grid Drifts, they're common as muck and I've gone off them slightly, but we'll see, I'll do some photoshopping to see what they look like. As for the rears, it'll be too easy to have the boot painted the same colour, I'm sure it'll look good but personally I don't think it'll look as good as it does now. I'm actually kind of chuffed with how the boot turned out, trying something different with a vision in my head and I believe that I pulled it off after my lil test with the plasti dip. The vision was to make the spoiler look like it was kind of floating/sitting a little higher than normal rather than just a spoiler stuck onto the boot (if that makes sense), the picture below is what I envisioned and I think it worked out really well personally:

Yes, a massive thank you to Lindsey for the routing and Tom for leading the way. What an awesome day with some pretty awesome runs. We managed to cover some good ground without any disruptions but ultimately we still managed to get stuck behind some cars which ruined some of the fun. But we found some nice spots to pull over but due to the miserable weather, we had to push on, only for the sun to come out, then rain a lil bit, then sun out again, then rain a lil bit more etc, it really couldn't settle properly but it didn't really feel like it slowed us down too much, I still had plenty of grip and hardly any back end action. As for the meet afterwards, bit of a wash out, we got there just before half 6 but Sarah didn't turn up until about just gone 8, at which point me and Faith had just left by then and there wasn't that many cars there, though we did recognise some of the MX5's that were there at Japfest this year. But it was still worth it because as soon as we left Mike to join the M5, me and Faith took the back route to the service station which turned out to be an awesome run. It was nice to be just the 2 of us as we over took a couple of cars with ease, couple of tight twist fast roads and a couple of hair pins....was thoroughly enjoyable....until my sat nav left us in the middle of no where a couple of miles north of where we needed to be.....and we ended up doing a massive loop to get back onto the M5 only to come back off again at the service station......when in fact we could have headed back south down the back roads into the service station through the back entrance.....ah well. Will look forward to the next run and the awesome Castle with a moat, a draw bridge that we need to drive through to all park in the courtyard in a semi circle which also has a tower and dungeons for all of us to stay in! Get on it Lindsey Oh and I ended up using a Tank and a half today

The current pads and discs are still good for a long while I think so it's guna be a while before I can get round to try before buying Keith but if you give me a price, I might consider getting them as spares when I finally need them. And I agree Lauren, I do need some new wheels, but I've been needing new wheels since I got the car but things keep on setting me back. My original plan has also now changed to something a lil more unique and "Lauren Approved", rather than the Rota Grid Drifts that I was going to get, and have a sticker of the club logo on one of the spokes off each wheel, I'm now looking at some Gram Lights. Not that I have a problem with Rotas as I kind of prefer the look of the Rota Grid compared to the TE37's and that's because the Rota's have more of a concaved face from what I've seen online. At the moment though, besides trying to save up the money for wheels, I can't decide on which Gram Lights I want. I'm stuck between: 57Getter's: And the 57FXX's: I'm at the moment leaning towards the 57Getter's because they are a lot more photogenic, you can actually see them pretty clearly and they look good, but don't know if they'll go with the car as I've got black bits not graphite bits painted on the car. If I do get the 57FXX, I'm tempted to do something like this to them: but instead of red, liquid yellow instead.....or do I go red to match the calipers? It's a shame they don't do the 57FXX Pro's in 18": as these are a 2 piece wheel, I'd split them to paint the sliver parts liquid yellow similar to this: Thoughts peoeple?

Welcome to the club and I hope the viewing goes well. Regarding the 2nd gear issue, only a small handful of people have been experiencing this and someone recently seemed to have found a solution for his particular car which you could pass onto the dealer to sort out.....and I don't think the dealer knows what he's on about, if anything, you are more likely to crunch gears when pushing hard/more revs. Here's the thread I was referring to http://gt86.org.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/2478-Gearbox-Issue---Think-I`ve-Cracked-It-! As for the squared setup, I'm assuming you are referring to wheel width? A couple of people on here have gone for the staggered look, running 8.5J at the front and 9.5J at the rears. Some like the look but others think it'll make the car understeer more (I think) so they often stick with the square setup. Me personally I prefer the square setup but have all wheels wider for the more concaved look plus I can swap wheels around if I needed to then.
