How long do you plan to keep your 86/BRZ?
Keethos replied to griffinnn's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Awesome stuff dude! Why the change and why are you not taking the rear diffuser and shift mount with you? -
A question for you Nige, though it might be a lil early but will you be keeping the riveted look or will you cover them up on the body bunny panels? Also, will you be keeping the rear of the wide arches open or will you close them off?
-
What is the DCW one made of and how does it come? Primed? Would you make it black or colour match?
-
I take it that both kits would result in a loss in ground clearance?
-
Sounds like you've got a beast of a machine, why the sale?
-
Doesn't the fact that the door have frameless Windows also contribute to the excessive condensation?
-
Hmmm, I personally prefer the 5Axis kit......Hmmmm........this would be the idea time/situation.....Hmmmm......
-
That is awesome dude, really goes with the black and orange look me thinks!
-
[emoji43] so you're only selling one and you're letting someone else choose which one you'd need to install? Any more pics and info about the DCW kit?
-
That looks mint, thanks for sharing! I'd love to do a full resto job, just no money, no space, no time & no skills [emoji14]
-
I need to give your knob a try [emoji14] "why so big?"
-
Yeah, def not an 86 dash. The binacle isn't that round and the 86 has the wing mirror adjusters on the door, not by the boot release button

Welcome to the club and congrats on the purchase! Glad another fellow midlander has joined the ranks as there doesn't seem to be that many of us around here. We'll have to sort out a midland meet at some point!

Thought so, if the back is exactly like in the picture then I'm sure that kit will work as it looks like it's the same as the ones on our UK head units.
-
Think this is well known but I've never tried it. Not felt that I've needed to whenever I've been on track.
-
Lol, when did Adrian start selling them? Lars, you got a picture of your head unit you could post up? Might be worth having a word with GT86Jay to see if he has any kits left as he put together some reversing camera kits for the club as a group but not too long ago.

Happy New Year Everyone!

I did think about that briefly but I didn't think long enough about it as I tried a 10mm spanner and looked for an Allen key that would fit but it was proper fiddly and I was worried I might damage the small Allen key. Didn't really think about a bigger spanner with a bigger Allen key but there was not much space to work with.

Lol, I've been meaning to take a pic and post my full collection but just haven't gotten around to it. Completed the set quite quickly actually. Hasn't it ended by now?

Oh and another update, I ordered some replacement damper valves from DriftWorks on Friday at lunch, paid the cheapest delivery option (which was still about 1pound something) but it arrived Saturday morning, and what was even more awesome was a small bag of Haribos So with a bit of time off, even in the cold, I replaced the broken damper which was easy enough to get off but a bugger to get back on, mainly because I didn't have a 9mm spanner, couple of 8mm and 10mm but no 9mm spanners. It was easy to get off with a 9mm socket wrench since it didn't have the big knob on top but there was no way of using that to tighten a new one with. So I ended up just tightening it as much as I could with my fingers, it was tight enough that when I adjusted the damper, the main valve didn't turn at all so I think it's tight enough. Either way, I then started to play with the dampers, set them all hard and to be fair, it wasn't as solid as I thought it would be, but it did throw you upwards more. So now I've dropped them down half way and it seemed to have dialled out the small minor bumps but you still feel all the other bumps and what not so pretty happy with it for the time being.

Just another quick update. Managed to get in touch with this guy with the mega low quote, turns out he's been in Australia, but don't know if he's been there that long as I tried e-mailing him a while back. I'll be giving him a call when he gets back. On to other good news, modding continued over Christmas....however not on my car but my helmet....and not the one between my legs but my racing helmet I've had this lil mount for ages but I've finally got round to sticking it on my helmet for some dynamic head turning action while on track This fits my Mobius Action Cam that I brought for roughly £50 and can't recommend it highly enough if you want small and very simple cam for stuff like this or in my case, mounted as a semi permanent dash cam. It doesn't have a screen, any fancy GPS or WiFi gadgetry but it's mega cheap, discreet (ideal for fit and forget in your car) and records 1080p footage equal quality to a GoPro which can be 4 times the price. Here's some footage I took while Karting with some family and friends, lighting isn't great but I'm sure it'll be great when outdoors on track etc. Sadly the battery didn't last very long at all, probably because I forgot to charge it but even so, the stock battery only really lasts about 80 mins I've read, however you can get bigger batteries if you needed but since I typically have it in the car all the time, it runs off the 12v socket all the time.

What captain duff said! The whiteline shift mount is a good lil mod to get, makes the gear shifts feel even more positive and has helped my slightly difficult 2nd gear but like others have said, wasn't an issue for me and it did go away once warm. I've heard that some got it really bad, it wasn't just because they were used to super smooth gears in the past but they did actually have a very difficult 2nd gear for some reason. I've also had the new bits to stop the gear stick buzzing at high revs.

PSN and Xbox Live is down no thanks to a bunch of immature grade A Aholes who thought it would be funny to hack and disrupt both online serves. This meant no Destiny (or even some of the other games I've downloaded that for some reason needs an internet connection) for me and poor kids who've just unwrapped their new consoles or games and at unable to play them.

Congrats on the special purchase and welcome to the club! Do love a yellow car and wish Toyota released a yellow to begin with but at the same time, I'm quite picky with my yellows and would have wanted a slight different yellow to the Giallo version (has to be more of a liquid yellow). I hope you find both the car and the club to be as pleasant as your previous club and car experiences! I too waited a year before modding to again, get a feel of the car before chopping and changing stuff! Look forward to meeting you and seeing what you eventually do with the car!
