Belated thanks to Richard Mckay and his guys over at RRG Macclesfield Toyota for their great service as usual. Have been getting the same error code and check engine light for a while now that comes on and then off again a few days later due to a coil pack. Finally got round to getting that replaced and it hasn't come back on since, even when giving it some. Also another belated thanks to Adrian Smith and his guys over at Fensport Performance for fitting & aligning my new coilovers as well as updating my ECU to the latest map. The updated remap has allowed me to stop the car from idling too high in the mornings, before when I start the car up from cold, the car would idle around the 2k rpm mark which with a loud exhaust could be a bit annoying for people in the mornings. To avoid annoying the neighbours I would set off as soon as I started the car, but now with the frosty mornings, I'm going to have to start the car and wait for the car to warm up. So with the new map, the car now idles around the 1k mark which means it's quieter in the mornings....it's still a lil loud....but not as loud. Beside this, Adrian has managed to extract some more power out of the car, don't know how much of a gain but the car feels a lot more smoother and pulls more again in the mid range, definitely keen to get it back on a dyno to see what difference it's made. Not only that, but the car is now returning even more mpg's, before, sitting on the motorway at 60mph on level ground, I could get about high 30's low 40's, now I can get around the high 40's which is a nice bonus. With regards to the HSD Coilovers, even though they have high spring rates (9kg at the front and 7kg at the rears), the ride still feels rather compliant and not as solid as my Clio 200 was. There's more movement over small minor bumps & imperfections on the road but there's less movement over bigger bumps and undulations. This means that you can feel more of what's going on with the road while not breaking your back over speed bumps. Pot holes and other sudden changes on the road can still be a bit on the harsh side but that's to be expected. There's even less body roll around corners now which makes the car feel even more planted but this does make the back end feel a lil loose, this could just be because of the cold weather but you don't feel the weight transfer as much before the rear breaks traction any more. The car has now been lowered by 30mm (so 345mm at the fronts and 350mm at the rears) and with a bit of Fensport trickery, the fronts which typically only have camber adjustments available, now has a bit of postive caster too. This has added a bit more weight to the steering wheel and the car feels more stable at high speeds like on the motorways, so less input is required to keep the car between the lines where as before, it felt like I was actively adjusting the steering wheel more. What I've also noticed is that while at very low speeds, I find that the steering wheel doesn't want to straighten as much any more so I have to put a bit more effort into turning the wheel back the opposite direction but it's fine when at speed. The camber at the fronts are now -2degs and -1.75degs at the rears while toe is at 0degs front and -1.5degs rear. However, in order to achieve this, I had to buy some front camber bolts as well as rear camber bushes (SuperPro I believe) and for some strange reason, the HSD Coilovers also didn't come with adjustable drop links so I had to get some front BC adjustable drop links. When setting up the car, I didn't even think about this before hand but Dave had a right time trying to adjust the height of the car down the passenger side since he usually measured from the centre of the wheel to the wheel arch, but since mine was mangled, Dave had to find somewhere else to measure to which meant extra measurements were needed each time he swapped sides Now with a free Saturday, I thought, lets play with the suspension a lil, at the moment the dampers are on the softest setting, I was hoping to tweak them to see if I can dial out some of movement from the minor bumps and road imperfections, but as I was dialling my rear drivers side adjuster.....I snapped the bloody thing didn't I????? MOTHER UCKER!!! Turns out the pin that holds the outer adjuster to the central adjuster shaft snapped so the outer adjuster was free to spin around, I'm sure I only managed 8 or 9 turns (out of 16) before I started to get resistance. Don't actually know what setting I'm on at the moment, tried to turn the central adjuster with some pliers but I don't know if I managed to turn it or not I tried to push the rest of the pin out of the central adjuster but it didn't want to budge (was hoping to just stick another pin in instead). So I didn't even bother adjusting the others, went out for a drive and luckily it doesn't feel that much different than before so I'll leave it as is for the time being. Just hope they're easy to replace without having to remove the actual strut or anything like that Here are some pics: Oh and while I was there, I saw this interesting lil nugget which I believe is steveoexige's GT86:

Here are some that I took.....finally Something that I needed......and it was the correct side in all....though not suitable for road use though

Yeah, afraid so, but things are look up, pay rise and a nice bonus this year so it's not all bad, it can only get better (he says [emoji57] )

Sorry to here this! But at least it wasn't something like binning your car on track with no insurance, followed by missing out on a big Euro trip and other Holidays followed by your close grandad dying, this year's been pretty crap

Looks nice Ian, shame I didn't get a proper look last weekend You made a decision yet Ian? You keeping it?

Lol, very expensive my friend, there aren't that many tunnels about now days as everyone tends to simulate airflow now by scanning and using computational fluid dynamic software's, but some things you just can't analyze or predict so there will be some about, but again at mega bucks. But awesome work Jay, wish I had the patience, time, finances or facilities to do stuff like that. A complete guess here but is the centre mount essential? Isn't flex sometimes a good thing in aerodynamics? E.g. the 458 has flexible front blades which flex as design to help with the aero of the car.

Not as much as hating the sound of my own voice from a recording [emoji37]

Quite surprised that the Cov dealership didn't have one in, that's where I got mine from and every time I've been in, they had one day in the dealership. When I test drove one, they only had an auto but they brought one over from the Stratford branch I think a week later for me to try (after I had ordered the car even). I popped into the Subaru Balsall Common branch last monday and they had a blue outside, it was the new 2015 model but don't know if it was a demo or show car.

Drunk or Tired Drivers Swerving/Drifting Into Other Lanes
Keethos posted a topic in Non GT86/BRZ General Chat
While I was heading over to Fensport yesterday, while on the long stretch on the A14, some silly bint in her Civic was doing a lil over the speed limit, however, she was swerving slightly left & right and every so often drift half way across into the other lane, then drift back again. Was she drunk? Was she nodding off? Who knows, but while we were in a 50 zone (road works) she continued to do this in front of me, so I started to flash her in the hopes to wake her up, give her the heads up that she's being a retard on the road, whatever.....so what does she do? She speeds up, undertakes the car in front and fecks off In this situation, what would you have done? -
Awesome pics Will! I'll post mine up when I get home tomorrow evening......they're not great [emoji58]

Forget the ecosystem, that one dead squirrel means no loose nuts left around which means on Saturday February 15th 2015, young James Taylor who goes on track for the first time in his Clio 200 doesn't try out braking himself on a tight turn by the outer wall and end up skidding on said loose nuts and slamming into said wall, ultimately saving his car and his life....think young James owes you a drink!

I don't know why but I initially thought that this was going to turn into something GT86 related, like how a small number of GT86's in the world has changed the aftermarket ecosystem or something, but it was pretty cool nonetheless!

LOL, yeah....I slept on it a bit funny -
Awesome stuff! Enjoy the drive home! Once you've got some miles under your belt, feel free to write up a review on what you think coming from a Type R.

Don't know about the exact one you are talking about but I have seen similar systems to what you've described, from smaller simpler DBoxes to big rig ones but can remember what they were called. During my time at Codemasters, I played a bit of Dirt on the DBox which was amusing but it just didn't feel right.

Pictures or video just don't quite show the true colour of this car. The yellow is quite a deep yellow but it's too flat for my liking (spoilt by the Renaults Liquid Yellow) but it's still a pretty good yellow, especially compared to some of the yellow cars out there.

Wow, that's quiet a list of mods, I expect an equally long list once you finally make the jump across Welcome to the club by the way, looks like your local to me as Balsall Common is my local Subaru dealer too, though I went for a Toyota instead for various reason, mainly because at the time, the waiting time for a BRZ was about 9months. Common, you know it makes sense

Lol, think Faith took one and posted it up on Facebook, don't think anyone else did though it was too miserable and dark!

Awesome work Dave! I was quite chuffed about keeping up with Caterhams and Porsches when I was at Mallory Park, not because of rain or anything but because it was such a tight little track with hardly any straights. I've found that the head rest is fine as it is for me, not needed to turn it around at all, even with a racing helmet and a big head

Sorry to hear this but glad it wasn't anything serious and that no one was hurt! Luckily you've covered insurance wise, unlike my situation which is the complete opposite, was to body work and not mechanical and I'm having to fork out for the repairs myself cos it occured on track Hope you get her back soon though!

Legal Street Racing on my door step! Well...almost, definitely where I work though After the closed roads motorsport legislation was passed back in the summer, Coventry City Council has decided to use the Ring Road as a circuit to host the BTCC, Formula 3 and Porsche Carrera Cup next year sometime....don't actually know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, might cause some right traffic jams as my office is literally off the ring road but would be good to watch.....though don't know how interesting it will be racing around a ring road http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=31067 Maybe we should host a GT86 Cup Race

It was a good laugh, and glad to see Adam and Teg at a local meet (instead of just the usual lot every time )

Ah sou desu ne! Welcome to the club anyways! The 86 is my daily drive and I don't have any problems with it, it's a good cruiser when you need it too but I suppose I didn't come from a torque happy diesel. To get past the torque dip, just give it some or drop a gear! A remap can help narrow the torque dip like Rob has mentioned too.
