10,000 Sold in Oz Already !

Is that £16k for the same spec (GTS is it) as our UK spec GT86 though? The FR-S is roughly £16k but you get bugger all spec wise........which side of the road they drive in? Maybe I could get one, and spec the aero kit

    Hi all, New from Mansfield

I'm sure Alec will be on at some point to explain how awful the TT drives as he was given one as a courtesy car while his was being repaired. Plus you said mk1 right, fugly things, very hair dressers, much prefer the new style.
  7. Wow, awesome write-up Lauren, spot on! The only thing that would have made the tour even better was getting some hands on time in the Dojo (the training room where new employees spend their first week practicing bolting bits onto an engine in a static environment, then they go onto training to do the same but on a moving line before actually working on the real production line). Since there was no training going on, would have been fun to actually put things together and bolts stuff to engines and what not in the Dojo.....or at least have a mess around by having a speed challenge for who can screw on all the nuts for a wheel on the training wheel wall the quickest. A big massive thanks to Rich for organising this, Garry for his contacts, Rob and Dave for the tour and the great members of this club for taking time off work to attend this event. It was nice meeting you Jamie and Ben (another fellow Toyota employees who also owns a GT86), hope to meet you guys again in the near future at a meet or something. It was also good to meet some new people there too, Ian and his son Kyle (forgive me if I got your names wrong, I'm terrible with names in general) and also meeting Senna for the first time though very disappointed that he didn't turn up in his 86.....or Faith for that matter . We saw someone else in an 86 drive in for the afternoon shift followed by AmazingCrow (who I never knew worked there).....why didn't you stop by for a chat or more pics with more 86's? I'm hoping we can do something like this again and hopefully I can see if we can organise something similar at the Toyota Vehicle Assembly Plant in Derby. Fingers crossed.

    HU electrical plug pins

Yeah sorry Rob, I've got it all written up again but wanted to add on what Jay (I.e. not use a new 16pin connector) did for his and the others but he hasn't got back to me with anything yet. But yeah, I got my harness of the American fella and Jay would reuse the existing connector by just jabbing the new wires into it....how exactly I'm not sure and how they stay in but he's not had any issues with them coming out again. It's difficult to find the connector and pins as no one knows the actual names/part numbers for them.
  9. Yeah, that's been on there for a while, it's an option but as a last resort or if I choose not to get it done by Toyota as I don't think they'd touch that.

    Countdown is on!

Awesome stuff dude! Glad you've finally got her and that you're enjoying her. Like others have said, just the smell of the goop but as for the sound, not sure, diff? Gears? Could just be mechanical parts bedding in.

    From newbie to adolescent

Awesome stuff, enjoy more wonderful driving with more revs I'd becareful with the sun visor sticker though, can't remember if people struggled to get that one off or not but I'm sure some people resorted to buying the visor from LHD cars.
  12. Well, a passenger headlight has just popped up on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gt-86-passenger-headlight-/331210339636?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4d1dacb534 one of the tabs are broken....better than 3-4 tabs broken on mine! COME ON BUMPERS, WINGS AND DOORS!!!

    Tegun's...

I've heard from several people that the Pilot Sports are really good, but I've also heard from several other people say that the Eagle F1's are good, and then there are others that say the Continental Contact Sports 5 are really good, to be honest, I don't think many people will notice much difference between these 3 tyres as they all perform pretty well (not unless you get to test them back to back intensely). Evo preferred the F1's over the v105's, then the Pilot Sports, then the Contact Sport 5's. While Auto Express preferred the Contact Sports first, then the Pilot Sport and then the F1's. Google Tyre Test 2014 or 2013 and there will be several articles that regarding tests to lots of tyres, it might be worth reading why those testers preferred one tyre over the other as it's all down to your own driving style and preferences. What you might find though is that I believe the Eagle F1's are typically cheaper than the others now as they've been around for a while now (but we're only talking a couple of quid per wheel). From the links you've posted up, if you're getting the tyres for the same price, maybe go for the more expensive Pilot Sports (and I'm sure you can get the Pilot Sports in 17"....maybe just not from that site)

    Tuning a NA

Congrats Stephen! And what a load of horse poo, I've seen plates with almost italic writing and not really that legible.....how on earth they get away with it I have no idea, instead you get pulled for something that is pretty legible no problems....just with a bit more spacing....wow big deal

    Hi all, New from Mansfield

LOL, yeah, I'll be there in my 86 so no one will be able to miss me....I'll be the big Chinese fella with a miserable face as for not only needing to fix my car but not being able to afford anything there

    Hi all, New from Mansfield

Awesome, I'll be at the Cosworth Launch Event too, looking forward to that seeing what they've got!
  17. Yeah, that's the current plan, I've saved some preset searches on ebay which I'm checking at least twice a day at the moment so will snap one up as soon as one appears, this whole new look idea is more of a future plan. The headlight still works, just need moving and fixing down as some of the plastic brackets on top (and possibly else where) have broken but it doesn't seem to move at all, so hopefully I can still use it when I get the fender and what not fixed. The main thing at the moment is finding these replacement parts while saving to get the other bits fixed first before looking at upgrading....but while I wait...no harm in looking
  18. Arh, so that was you! No worries dude, I saw your auction but didn't know if I should have got it, hoping for a white one to appear to save having to paint it etc. Thanks for the thought though!

    Hi all, New from Mansfield

Cheers dude, it's guna be a long, slow and expensive process ! Don't know if you've seen or not, but besides the "Events" section, you can checkout the forum's calendar for up and coming events/shows. Hope to meet you at one of them in the near future!

    Hi all, New from Mansfield

Welcome to the club Adam and congrats on the purchase! Can't believe the dealership put a nice bow on your car....my dealer did nothing for me upon pick Looking forward to your mods dude!
  21. Arh right, gotcha!
  22. But the headlamp washers aren't a part of the headlamp itself though are they? I would have thought they were a separate units to the headlamps so I can still use the existing ones for new headlamps. FYI People! I've just got off the phone to my insurance company and they've told me that since I'm not claiming anything, I don't need to declare anything to them and as long as the car is still drivable, my car is still covered but only to the damage that I cause in my next crash. They say they have engineers who can assess what the new crash has caused damaged wise......what I did forget to ask was what was to happen if I actually damage the same area that I've already damaged but they'll probably say the same, that their engineers can figure that out.....some how....but who knows, if it was to happen, they'll probably still try and argue out of it but at least I have pics to show it's current state.
