Glad it's kinda sorted for you mate, hopefully it'll be smooth sailing from now on but still, that's a bit pants them not actually replacing it for new as this will only pass the problem onto the next owner of the car they took it from

That's is soooo friggin cool, love Koenigseggs! The whole technology and development of carbon fibre is so fascinating, when I had the tour around the Red Bull Racing manufacturing and inspection plant in Milton Keynes the other day, the guy I was supporting was showing me around the carbon fibre area and telling me how important it is to make sure that the weaves are flowing in the right directions, right angles, and how important it is that certain areas of the carbon fibre have to keeps it's shape and form when baked etc that they are currently using 3 techniques which are all similar but different materials for which they wrap the carbon fibre around. Firstly you've got light weight aluminium honey comb structures similar to what Koenigsegg use I believe, you've got a really light yet strong foam which are very stable and don't deform at all while being baked, both these methods are designed to remain in there after the part has been produce and lastly they're working on a plastic that can easily be formed to the shape they need within a kinda pouch, wrap that in carbon fibre, bake it and then they are able to rework the plastic so it's soft and pliable again so they can just pull it out leaving a strong yet hollow carbon fibre component. This is even more cool: Using 3D scanning technology to scan components, especially free form components that are difficult to replicate in a CAD package such as car seats (my company has scanned quite a few F1 seats for this very purpose of reproducing them to fit perfectly to particular F1 drivers). 3D scanning and 3D printing go hand in had so well, I recently trained up some people from an aerospace company who forked out half a mil on a titanium printer to print components that are to be actually used on an air craft. I know there's a lot now days that you can print, plastics, metal hell you can even print flesh and muscle (print steak or burger anyone?), but I'm intrigued by printing carbon fibre, first I've heard about that, wonder how well that works.

As some of you might know, my car is rarely clean, but my car has now come back to me gleamingly clean and beading even the smallest droplets of rain courtesy of Midland Car Care who are based in Walsall (just down the road from the Premier Inn where we had the massive UK Meet and the more recent Midland meet). I've had the car detailed and protected once before a while back but protection wore off quite quickly in certain areas (it was 2 coats of CQuartz Finest) so the car has been re-detailed with a single stage machine polish and 2 coats of Gtechniq Exo this time. Here's the thread to the pics that Midland Car Care took which I've only just found/realised had been put up: http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=310652&highlight=gt86 And here are some of the new pics: No Tesco underground car park Pics this time....completely forgot

Well I've just got off the phone with Mike and they're still open Pretty much what I mentioned above, they've been busy and not had time to pop on here which is a bit of a shame but they've got bills to pay. They've still not moved yet as they're still trying to sort a new place out but he says once he's moving in and everything, he'll be organising another open day which should be cool! I've been booked in to see him on the 26th May to get my last pulley fitted while I'm up in the area.

Detailed and Protected Again :D

LOL, I get the whole detailing part, who doesn't like a clean, smooth and shiny car......but I couldn't be doing with doing it myself, but oh you can tell the difference, just feeling the surface of the car and it's super smooth. If you were to run your hands over your car that has just been washed, you'd think it feels smooth but you won't realise that it's not actually as smooth as say someone who's had the car clayed and waxed/polished etc. Yeah, not overly impressed with that Lauren, the car went in on Friday morning for this detail and new protection as well as getting the roof and front lip wrapped in a gloss black vinyl followed by getting the calipers painted red but I get message on Monday (the day I was to pick it up) that everything had been done except the vinyl wrap and painting of the calipers as this usual guy who does this for him was off sick the whole bank holiday weekend and this backup was a no show. Now trying to see if he can sort me out next weekend as I want this done before BHP. Midland Car Care are pretty good in what they do and they're always mega busy, their facebook page is just full of "oh where what I'm detailing today" and it'll be anything from a Renault Twingo to Rolls Royces, Lambos etc (supposedly he'll be detailing a Mclaren P1 and a Lambo Elemento at some point soon), but because of this, it's been a nightmare trying to get hold of him. I'm sticking with him as he's been great to me otherwise and he doing the wrap and painting for a pretty good price (I think), after the protection wore off first time round, he has done a full detail and now protection free of charge this time round which isn't cheap. -
LOL it's alright "Dave" I spoke to Mike@TD about a month ago, he's still up and running (think google says "Now Closed" because is knows the opening times and at the moment they are actually closed cos it's late). He's not been on because he says he's been mega busy and he's in the middle of moving but was having issue with the move or sorting something out to do with the move. I was supposed to pop in to see him on the day before Barkston Heath but he never got back to me about being able to sort my pulley out and I wasn't able to get hold of him. I hoping to give him a call sometime soon to see if he can sort out my pulley on a particular date where I'll be up in the area, will let you people know!

First Proper Clean Ever
Keethos replied to Jamie_GRMN's topic in Meets/Show & Shine - Pictures & Videos
Looks awesome Jamie, guna be honest, I've yet to wash my car personally yet.....each time I've managed to get someone else to wash it for me, namely the detailer from Midlands Car Care in Walsall and my mate who's suddenly gotten into detailing ever since he brought himself a Focus RS I swore to myself that I'd never go through the pain and effort ever again after spending 6 hours washing, claying and polishing my Clio 200 a couple of years back, I ached for a week and it got dirty again so quickly My car is currently getting a full detail and paint protection applied as we speak, followed by a roof and front lip wrapped in gloss black and then the calipers painted red....can't wait -
Burn burn the ring of fire....the ring of fire Good job you two!

Anyone know why these new JDM cars like the new NSX and the FT-1 are being designed or developed by the Americans and not the Japanese? This a good thing or bad thing you reckon? I personally don't mind the idea of going high performance hybrid, which in my eyes is completely different to going eco hybrid. What I wouldn't want is a full on electric car, fair enough you can still get mega performance (just see the Mercedes SLS Electric) but sound plays a big part in the feel of the car to me, so as long as the hybrid still have the roar of a proper car then I'm down.....though I would probably miss the low down burble when tootling around town as I'm sure it'll likely boot into electric mode.

Gutted for you Lauren, how long will that set you back by then?

That is messed up, glad you didn't get involved and that your car only suffered a slashed tyre. I am hoping too that the guy getting a kicking was in fact the culprit but I dread to think that the group of 8 were in fact the vandals and the were beating someone up who tried to stop it....who knows, hopefully the police can sort this out. So what happened to the guys who was getting his head kicked and the other 8 lads doing the kicking? Hospital? Ran away or taken off by the police?

I spent a while looking around the looking at reviews, threads and stuff regarding the car while I was waiting for mine to arrive, and I spotted it quite early on from other threads, pictures and what not. It's in a fantastic place to fit and forget charging cables and what not, so I have my dash cam and phone charger plugged into it. The one in the centre console was more exposed and left cables lying around but I love the fact that the arm rest has a little cutout for a charging cable to lead out of it so now you can use the socket in the arm rest with the cables hidden and tucked away....but I still stick with the one one in the glove box.....all cars should have on in the glove box!

Awesome stuff Rich and the team, looking forward to seeing how you guys get on.....still gutted I can't make the first event

Dude, that sucks big hair....you knows what.....I'm glad to hear that the dealer is on your side and is helping you out with a possible solution but I can't believe TGB thinks that this is acceptable. With the amount of people complaining about this same issue over on the other forum and I assume on the FT86 forum too, that Toyota would accept that this is a problem and actually look into it....have the others on the other forum not complained to their dealers and directly to TGB at all?

Castle coombe track day. 14th april
Keethos replied to CHOSENMAN007's topic in Meets/Show & Shine - Pictures & Videos
My car was on the dyno at the time so I'm hoping it wasn't something as silly as turning the crank bolt turned the wheels because of the rolling road But I need to head up to RRG at some point to get some bits looked at, hopefully I can pop into to Tuning Development and they can quickly swap them over, but they've been mega busy with the move to a new site. -
It'll cover the whole roof nicely I think

Who's this fella and why is he selling his car? -
Don't tease us like that Quixote, what might be interesting? Did you get anything else done while you were there or just map updates?

I've got nothing planned....if I can get up early enough I might be keen!

Hi all, Wondering if anyone else has been experiencing this, when using the window wipers to remove standing water or after spraying it then wiping it, even when while moving, I'm finding that the wipers wipe the water to one side fine, but then it just ends up dragging a load of water back onto the windscreen again. Anyone else get this? Anything anyone can do? Not a major issue, but I just ended up turning the wipers on a lil longer but it's a vicious cycle

To my limited knowledge, each stage upgrade is tuning the ECU to have more boost and more gadgets for safety purposes as well as to help regulate the flow of things, this could include having to make sure you have a 3" exhaust system to get more air flow etc. There's probably a bit more to it than that but that's my limited knowledge....I won't be going FI any time soon so not looked into it in too much detail. It's still a bit early to say how hard going FI will be on the stock system, most people have been assured that stage 1 tuning will be fine on the stock parts but obviously higher stages means more boost, more power and more strain on the car, I'm sure most of the components will be fine but who can say that every single component will be fine.

@Lauren - lol, I was referring to both the Vortech and the Rotrex both being centrifugal superchargers and not knowing the difference, I know the Sprintex/Innovate is a twin-screw which is completely different. @Chosenman007 - That's the problem with trying Ian's car out, he's after that stealth setup where it sounds like your not (same with me, I want all the sounds, drama etc) and that does have a big impact on the feel for the car in my opinion, I've been in Adrian's street turbo and when he booted it, there was hardly any sound at all and yet I could see the speedo climb rapidly, it just felt weird. But if you have a go in Pitman's or Special K's car, you'll feel the drama, the roaring exhaust and the pull of the cars even more (though granted they're stage 3 setups I think).
