    Quick Jacks

I have been looking at getting one too. Hopefully make servicing so much easier.

    Worst Car Ever Driven

Hmm not sure if this counts. However I'll say it anyway, work vans; in particular the Peugeot Bipper, as a work van they are so small, you can't get anything in the back. They are tiny, they look like toy cars. From what I remember they have no oomph either. But the worst thing of all, is the latches for the rear doors stick out quite a lot, every time you reach into the back you catch your head on the latch. It really hurts, I have had numerous colleagues banging their heads on the latch. Weird it's another Peugeot. Then again, it's probably not.
  6. Hi all, It's not related to my GT86 but family members tyres, but thought maybe it's ok to post in here regarding tyres as it might help others? Either I am about to make a massive idiot of myself or my below thinking would be correct... A family member purchased 2 of the same model tyres as below. Both tyres have "inside" written on the left hand sides of the tyres. So I imagined one tyre on the right front of the car as the centre strip of rubber, when the car is moving forward when in contact with water it would help dissipate water to the grooves? However, we noticed that the middle strip of rubber where it has one groove line from the centre moving to the outside, that one line would be facing differently if you placed it on the left hand side of the vehicle. Even if it doesn't affect wet weather driving, surely tread patterns should be the same? It will have some affect? There is also no indication of direction on the tyres, just the word "inside". Anyone able to offer some insight?

    Tyre question/confusion

Ok thanks. Just thought it was strange that the central pattern would be different.

    Hc emission Mot fail

I don't even get 30mpg. If I remember correctly mine would have failed emissions last year, I think my map is too rich, sometimes you can even smell it. Got an MOT tomorrow so will see how it goes.

    6 years / 60,000 mile service

As others have said, it is every 60,000 miles not by years. It's in the "service and Warranty" booklet, page 24. That booklet is really difficult to understand at first because it has every Toyota model listed in it, so some of it is irrelevant. Some of you have similar mileage to mine I thought I had the oldest to low mileage ratio. 2013 and just hit 20,000 miles.

King-Meiler Tyres Extreme VR2/VR2NK, any good?

It depends what you use the tyres for? If they are rubbish grip etc, then they be great for drifting/practice etc.

    Key fob battery

£5 and £4.48 for them to do it? Or £4.48 for everything? I had to change mine the other day. Just ordered some battery's off Amazon and use the manual key to open the plastic casing and change the battery.

    Hyundai i30 N Advert

New video by EE. Interesting. It's about the veloster N, which I'm 99% certain is the same as i30n only it has got a different rear end.

    Rear brake pads fell out......?

I think "fitted" is the wrong word. I would imagine they just placed it. Or maybe it was fitted correctly and someone has a hit on you and loosened it? You're not wanted by the mafia or anything are you? On a serious note, glad you're ok.

Reliability putting me off the 86.

Most of these issues should have been sorted under warranty by previous owners. I must admit I'm not familiar with a lot of those you listed. However, there is an issue I have encountered and apparently others have reported it. The electric windows scratching the glass. I'm not impressed with the amount of issues I have had owning my gt86. Some common and some that only I have encountered as far as I know. Compared to my previous car swift sport, I had absolutely no issues with owning it for 4 or 5 years. I regret selling it. I've had the rust under bonnet. The scratching of electric windows. The rubber door sill on drivers side gets pulled away from seal when window closes. When you put the rear seats flat and then put them back. The latches/buttons almost come lose. I guess we can all list the battery as an issue? Or maybe it was intended to be a low capacity battery. Edit: maybe I'm nitpicking, but I expect better build quality for something this price and from Toyota.

    Run / Meet

I might be interested; depending on price (I'm meant to be saving for a house). I'm always on the lookout for decent roads; the roads where I live are filled with numerous potholes, traffics lights and many many BMW's, Audi's etc.

Car reviewers have been saying it's similar sounding to a rally car, with the ASBO pop and bangs. But yes, I can't imagine the engine sounds that great being a 2l turbo.

Great pics. Well done Lee on organising and those that turned up. Unfortunately we got split up, some of us were told to move our cars because of the tree.

    2019 TRD

New TRD, improved suspension and brembo brakes. https://jalopnik.com/2019-toyota-86-trd-special-edition-handles-better-no-1827807814 Didn't think it was called TRD anymore.

    2019 TRD

How much more is this TRD compared to the original. I know it's America only, but with BBK and better tyres and suspension it might be worth it... Well for Americans anyway. Plus the rarity of it.

    Next Car/GT86 Differences

Loads of cars I have considered. Some are way out of price range but might be in your price range. I'm hoping Santa will deliver one of them one Christmas. MX5's, particularly the RF version simply because the soft top MX5's would take so much looking after. Abarth 124 spider S2000 - I am hoping for an update for Honda's 70th birthday, but I can't see that. New supra Jaguar F Type Lexus RC/RCF BMW M2 - but I don't trust BMW reliability and same for Alfa Gulia Quadrifolgio. But I'm waiting on the Gulia Coupe Porsches Audi R8 - if I remember correctly these were £100k+ new. But instead of an M2, spend few 1000's more and you can get one of these. But would spend a fortune on petrol though. Sorry went a bit mad, got all excited by cars and dreaming of what I would want. But you might be an investment banker and might be able to stretch to one of those.
