    Rear louver

I’ve got the matching rear deck - Sam’s car was my old car. £150, based just outside Stoke on Trent. Pics in my old build thread.

    Lowe's Team Grey

I've been here for a while but never really got around to posting one of these threads. Best get my finger out then eh? So, at the beginning of January I picked up my GT86. I'd been looking at a few, BRZ's included but I really wanted a grey one having seen one in bright sunlight. Generally I'm not a fan of grey cars, but the flake in the 86's paint when hit by sunlight really looks incredible. Unfortunately there aren't many grey ones about. It took months and eventually I found my car. It had been previously sold, but it fell through and so I had a phone call from the dealer asking if I was still interested. I went up to see it, fell in love and signed on the line. Picking her up with youngest: My wife thought I was nuts and preferred black ones. She's constantly ribbing me saying that mine needs a polish to bring it back to black. So, I got it back home and then had three weeks of bad luck. First of all some **** opened their door on my front wheel arch and left a dent, as well as cracking the paint. I then got caught between two vehicles on the motorway and a truck threw a wheel arch liner at me. I had nowhere to go and unfortunately took the hit. Luckily this didn't do much noticeable damage so I just reseated the grill and chalked it up to experience. With the mileage I do I figured I'd end up respraying the front end anyway to sort stone chips. The arch however I couldn't ignore. They'd also managed to scratch the lower part of the sill, right down to the metal. I dabbed in some paint, got a friend who does PDR to remove the dents and then took her off to the body shop to have the wing resprayed. The damage: Post PDR: After the respray:

Haven't really done much to the car of late. Did have a minor issue post recall which was all sorted out by RRG under warranty. Also my battery decided to die and no amount of charging would sort it. Luckily my door locks are nice and free so that got swapped out for another 65Ah Bosch. Pic for the sake of posting

    Looking at a GT86 today

Thanks for the love 😘😂 Defo get the recall done - gives you 12 months warranty on the engine even if the car is out of warranty... Worth it for that alone. Personally as good as auto boxes can be, I wouldn't. I used to do a fair bit of commuting which involved motorway and the inevitable traffic jams - and overall it was only a minor inconvenience since the clutch is pretty light. The auto changes pretty quickly but is let down by longer gearing.

    Problems with standard jack

I’m sure in the manual it says not to use the included jack. I think they include one just because it’s some eu law.

    Supra Review

Putting a new car up against a secondhand car that’s depreciated loads isn’t ever fair though. Not to mention the Supra will have 5 years of warranty on it - and something like a Masser will come with 100k car bills and no warranty to back you up... so not really a valid comparison. Having driven the same car Lauren did shortly after I have to say it also left a real impression on me. The power is just nuts, it’s got grip for days and is a very nice place to be. The gearbox was the biggest surprise for me. I didn’t bother with the paddles, just put it in Sport and let it worry about the cogs. With it using the GPS to help read the road ahead I never found it scrambling for a gear when I planted the throttle, most of the time it was already shifting to the right gear before I was at corner entry, it’s damn near telepathic. I never missed having a manual box, I just got on with pointing the nose where it needed to go and then holding on for grim death whilst the scenery turned into a blur... 😂 ...and herein lies the issue. The Supra is ridiculously quick and capable across UK roads, too much so. But driving it is like being in a cocoon. Even in sport mode it’s not that loud and getting towards three figures doesn’t actually feel that quick. The 86 ‘feels’ quicker in that regard, especially since you need to rag it to get the pace. I guess a few aftermarket mods would help in the noise department and it’s not a dealbreaker. Just something to be aware of 😄

    Good news

Yup, I’d lean towards it being hybrid. Tada said the Supra would be the last high revving petrol engined Toyota. Given Toyota’s investment in the tech, I’d be surprised if it were anything else.
  9. Following. Mine’s doing the same.

    Functional splitters/diffusers

And that ladies and gents, is why you don't see many Verus aero equipped cars in the UK! 😂

    Functional splitters/diffusers

I bought a second hand Maxton to do exactly that - see if it'd get smashed up in a month or so, before spending big money on a Verus package. Still got it on, so this is really bloody tempting, especially since I live in the same town as Teigwa!
  12. Been using you for years now. Always been very happy with the overall package 👍

    HKS Intake Duct

I have a Grimmspeed intake, and they suggest doing the snorkel mod.

    HKS Intake Duct

How did you do that without taking off the bumper?
  15. Yes. To stop accidentally opening it.
  16. Soft99 King of Gloss: That said though, the Carpro range is incredible - Elixir is something else. I just don't have photos of it at the moment. https://carpro.uk.com/collections/spray-sealants-coatings/products/elixir500
  17. Be careful powdercoating forged wheels. The oven heat can cause the aluminium to anneal leading to premature cracking. Better to wet spray them, even if it's not as durable.

    Rustproofing

Thinking longer term here... Since obviously all our cars are relatively new it's probably not on the radar for most people, but does anyone know what's been done at the factory to stop rust, especially underneath? I'm new to Japanese cars but keep hearing horror stories of Mazda's and the like rotting away from inside and underneath etc so I'm thinking whilst the car's fairly new to try and nip any potential tin worm in the bud. Thoughts?

Car went in for recall at RRG Macc last week. All sorted now. Had new plugs and clutch whilst everything was out, and treated her to a set of new Advan V105S on the front too. As ever superb service from the guys at RRG and the car's driving fantastic. On a slight tangent but car related, I picked one of these up. It's a deionising water filter. You hook it up to your tap, then plug in your pressure washer to the outlet. On doing the final rinse of your car, you switch to the bottle, and it washes away all the impurities that would otherwise be left on the car. It means that you don't have to bother drying the car with a leather or drying towel. Saves a stack load of time, and further minimises the risk of adding swirls since you're not using any contact again.
  20. Compressed air lines I'd imagine to open up the valves.
  21. Had these pics through from the work being done yesterday. Didn't get an 86 as a courtesy car, ended up with a new Corolla. Wasn't best pleased with that but I'm surprisingly taken with it. Lane assist and active cruise is a hoot on the motorway, it pretty much does everything for you!
  22. Mine’s in tomorrow at RRG Macc. Slightly nervous but glad it’s in Gary’s and Rich’s capable hands.
