75 mile a day here. Mileage doesn't seem to hurt these cars too bad. Just the bloody spark plug change which hurts

I had one and it lasted a total of two weeks. Couldn't put up with the whine on the motorway.

Check if there's a gearbox void bush installed. If there is, that'll explain the noise.

OcUK HQ Motors Meet 3, 15th September

Big thanks to everyone that came down and supported the event, it was a great meet and there were lots of cracking cars. That's probably the last one for the year, but there will be lots of smaller Japfeast meets in the near future for anyone in Staffs who fancies a greasy breakfast and a natter!
  5. As per the last two meets, but even bigger. Few more things going on this time, some mega deals to be had on computer components and Autobrite bits etc. Expected to be the last one of the year. Free pizza, but think it's being made on site rather than a Dominos run. Also talk of an ice cream van (winning!) Full details on the link below. Please do post in here if you're interested so I can let the organisers know some rough numbers. https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/ocuk-hq-motors-meet-take-3-cars-computers-cosplay-saturday-15th-september-2018.18825356/#post-3198000

Rear end (diff?) juddering slow turns

I hope there isn’t any damage cos I did about 5k miles with it whilst we worked out what it was! 😂

Rear end (diff?) juddering slow turns

I went through this. Gotta give RRG Mac credit, they went to the ends of the earth to sort it for me. First off we changed it again but it still did it. We then changed it again, but with a fresh barrel in case the original was contaminated. Still had the problem. Then, Rich imported some thinner diff oil from Japan. He put that in and it sorted it, no more issues. Apparently it’s a really rare problem, and he’s only come across two or three like it. @Riceburner can give a bit more info I’m sure.

Small update, Aliexpress had a big sale so I ordered loads of tat. The first thing to arrive is these suppositories, that double up as LED indicator bulbs. One of my minor annoyances was the way the front indicators look orange in the reflectors when viewed head on due to the huge orange bulb. Fitting was literally a 5 minute job, unscrew the 3 small lower trim clips in the wheel arch liner, reach in and unscrew the bulb holder. Swap the bulb, check that polarity is OK, re-screw in and refit arch liner and clips. They loads brighter too which is ideal since I'm planning on tinting the housing to match the side repeaters.

OcUK HQ Motors Meet 3, 15th September

Just bumping this up to the top in case people have missed it, it's only a couple of weeks away now and looking to be a really good meet.
  13. Has the car physically gone? I'd swap the tinted front indicators for mine if you still have it?

    UEL Manifold rest stock

Get cold start mapped out!! My UEL RCM manifold with one cat and Cobrasport resonated (known as being pretty loud) is actually quieter on start up now than it was with two cats and just the cat back. It’s also perfectly possible to drive it carefully without being ridiculously loud, but if you do plant it all hell breaks loose. Few cheeky revs

Another thing to consider is if you're likely to want to do any more mods in the future such as a cat back exhaust. If you do, potentially you won't be getting the best from your map and you are likely to be charged to have another mapping session. It might be more prudent to get the cat back done first, then do the remap/manifold. Or, do it all in one go!

    GT86 Wanted

Took me 9 months to find the right car in that exact spec (albeit back a couple of years so was after a 2013/4 plate). Good luck!

Cheers, I've been experimenting (read being an absolute child) with it over the weekend driving through various high walled narrow roads, underpasses and tunnels. Haven't stopped smiling haha!

    Nuts

+1 for those - proper nuts that you know will fit and being Ray's they're quality items.

Yeah, there's a couple of really tight corners on my commute where like it or not you end up stuck low down in the revs and you'd really feel the torque dip whilst you're winding it back up again. Not an issue any more, you just get going straight away. Huge improvement on overall drivability, and to be honest I should have done it a lot sooner. Haven't noticed a difference in volume when hot, but have noticed a tendency to be more 'parpy' when warm, probably due to it being more eager to rev.

Yesterday I took a drive up to Tuning Developments. Mike and the team fitted my RCM manifold, Miltek overpipe and then remapped everything to suit. Came out with a respectable 201.2bhp which I'm happy with. Funny that the car is now producing what it's supposed to produce from factory... So the overall set up is: Grimmspeed Intake > Engine (lol) > RCM (unbadged Tomei) UEL manifold > Miltek overpipe > OEM 2nd Cat >Cobrasport Resonated Catback. The car feels great, far more eager to get going and it pulls smoothly across the whole rev range with no dips or hesitations. Cold start fast idle is also now gone (YAY!) But the best bit by far is the noise. It's loud, but just about on the right side of being obnoxious... just. By like a hairs width if you're lucky. Keeping it to about 2k RPM with small throttle usage and it's actually quieter than it was before. But if you start to use the accelerator pedal it really lets the boxer rumble rip, it literally is a loud pedal. Downshift blips are addictive, there's some lovely crackle on the over run but it doesn't sound a bit 'forced' like the Audi's do. I took a quick static video earlier on: Really pleased.

Update. I took them out again to glue the clip to the marker. One side went without issue, the other side was a nightmare. The A clip pinged off and fell into the inner liner. I peeled back the liner to see inside and the clip was nowhere to be seen, absolute Houdini! So, I got a load of 3M tape and glue and hopefully that'll hold it. Hasn't fallen off yet... In other news, manifold, overpipe and remap is hopefully being sorted next week.

Perhaps but my concern is more the A clip itself. Since that keeps coming off it’s likely to fall into the liner and then there’s no way to fix them back. I think I’m going to glue the A clip, then push them in place.

Just one of those things. The clips are the same as the OEM ones, they just aren't very well attached to the marker itself. A good blob of glue inside the A clip and then some 3M tape on the inside of the frame will probably be enough to hold them in place as a 'just in case'. I just hope they stay on long enough to get home!

Ask @Dessss Yes I know it's a symbol that doesn't actually sound the way it should. It's just artistic licence...
