Wheel alignment on coilovers - what settings?

Indeed. As I said, I generally drive on shitty B roads, and track use is my lowest priority. -
Wheel alignment on coilovers - what settings?
ThatGuyThere replied to ThatGuyThere's topic in Mechanical
Ah. I think this garage although experienced in modified cars, wouldn't have a clue what the correct settings were for this car! I went to them, because a local modified-BMW specialist, who fit a lot of coilovers and have a good reputation, told me they take theirs here for the alignment once fitted. But again, the guy at the garage said that most people who bring modified cars in have their own requirements, other than that they will go for OEM specs - which I do not know are appropriate for a lowered car with wider wheels? -
I'll try to record my M7 Titanium before i take it off, should fit in well in this thread!

I can't imagine ever wanting more than the 250bhp/ton that I have. When it's as fast in a straight-line as a Cayman S and M3, but lighter and likely quicker through the corners...why should I want more? I'd get envy if a supercar overtook me, but then his brake setup likely cost more than my entire car, so the envy would be fleeting!

This seems overpriced to me, seems £13k would be appropriate, maybe £14k max as it's a dealer. But good decision to cancel because they'll never knock that much off.

Pioneer AVIC-F88DAB - 7" Double Din DAB, Bluetooth, Navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, HDMI & CD/DVD
ThatGuyThere replied to jevvy's topic in For Sale GT86 / BRZ Parts
I nearly bought a TTRS before buying a GT86. TT felt heavy, steering felt unconnected, interior despite being "premium", felt cheap compared to my previous mk1 TT, and also felt quite cramped (I'm tall so with seats all the way back, it rubs against the rear seats just like my mk1). Sounded AMAZING with the sports exhaust though. Wish I could take just the exhaust and put it on my GT86! Other big plus point is the all-weather performance and the way it will never lose grip. Ever. But, I hated the heavy, dullness of my TT, so couldn't buy one just for the exhaust sound!- 7 replies

Are there any that just replace the standard stereo without requiring adaptors? I don't want a £2.50 piece of shitty plastic on my already not that aesthetically pleasing dashboard!

Unbranded exhaust on eBay - anyone have experience of them

Has anyone bought one of these? Is it likely to fit correctly - I don't want it looking uneven from the rear, not sure how adjustable such a thing would be. I'm trying to decide between this, at £330, vs the one from Tuning Developments at £600 - I much prefer the tips on this cheaper one to be honest, but I've emailed TD about alternative tips. I want something fairly quiet, considering I have a supercharger and no cats. Many thanks. -

This is why it's a toss up between £250 and £1000 - the ones in the middle don't seem worth it! -

See above, even cheaper! It seems a good price to me. I do like the titanium tips of the Q300, but I like having £700 even more! Still can't decide though. -
Yeah I just finished reading Lauren's thread about how well hers have performed. I think I will. In the box of parts that came with the car, I have some D-Speed G2 pads, which I cannot find anything about that is not in Japanese! Shame, they are brand new and boxed.

Found the same exhaust for nearly £100 less: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fit-12-15-FRS-FT86-BRZ-Resonated-Dual-Exit-Catback-Exhaust-4-5-In-Rolled-Tip-/161484333707?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368 Same car, right?! -
Just rang Huddersfield Toyota, they know nothing about softer pads and only have the originals as an option!

Unbranded exhaust on eBay - anyone have experience of them
ThatGuyThere replied to ThatGuyThere's topic in Mechanical
Many thanks. Seems the only 2nd hand ones I'm seeing are overpriced then. On the one hand this exhaust is ruining the car for me, on the other I know as soon as I buy something, a 2nd hand Q300 will appear! -
Apologies for thread revival - but I'm having this same issue, and it's driving me mad (admittedly that's because right now it's combined with a very loud exhaust, vibrating numberplate and a squeaky door seal!)! I like to drive with window down, and I don't want constant squealing. I did a several brisk stops from 60mph last week which stopped it for a 30 miles or so, but now its back. So if I get the newer "softer" pads from my local dealer, they will definitely be silent? Is there a product number I can quote? Thanks.

Thanks for your reply. With regards to this comment - is that because it's just not a very good exhaust? I'm clueless about all this. I'm struggling to justify spending £1k on the genuine Q300 but I don't want anything shit. -
Hi Just bought a modified gt86. The exhaust is too loud for me, so I'm looking at options to reduce that. But I'm a little confused as to what I actually have on the car. The system is described as: HKS manifold Tomei Overpipe HKS resonated Front Pipe M7 titanium exhaust Here is a photo of how the M7 exhaust looked when the original owner fitted it: http://24.media.tumblr.com/29847c4e676a651def4854be34beed88/tumblr_mok6l3ceV71rbah8no1_1280.jpg Here's a pic of what is on the car at the moment, which clearly has a silencer - so any clue what I'm looking at? That's not the front-pipe, right?
-
Anyone looking to sell one? Or possibly swap for my highflow M7 Titanium exhaust which produces a glorious, but very loud, sound. Mine is de-catted and supercharged so that combination is too loud for me.
-
Huddersfield Here's a video of the exhaust on my car, I'm assuming this was when it had standard manifold, overpipe, and cat. This will be before the resonator was fitted to the mid pipe. Gives a good idea.

## Special Offer ## GT86/BRZ/FR-S Exhaust Systems From Tuning Developments
ThatGuyThere replied to Mike@TD.co.uk's topic in Tuning Developments
Hi Mike I'm researching exhausts at the moment, and most people seem to be in agreement that the Q300 is the quietest aftermarket exhaust available off the shelf. But you're saying that is not the case, with the Milltek being the quietest, and that yours is even quieter again? I've listened to videos, and the q300 sounds nearly as quiet as stock! Can you clarify please, I'm looking for something more tuneful than stock but not "look at me" loud at lower revs. -

Will do Lauren, thanks for clarification. -
From a 2013 gt86. Covered 6k miles approx from new. Been off the car for a few months. Look in good condition. Open to offers before I stick them on eBay. Located in Huddersfield.

Hi Gringo. There's a video somewhere online showing what this sounds like with standard manifold, from when the first owner just fitted it. It's loud, but not offensive. I'll try find it when I get on my PC. Would you possibly be interested because I am going to be selling it unless I'm lucky enough to find a q300 owner wanting to swap.
-
Took the car to a local exhaust dude. Advised me that although the exhaust is beautifully made, it will never be quiet - as it has very little silencing. I'm considering a 2nd hand standard exhaust from eBay - on the understanding that the filter/manifold/overpipe/frontpipe will increase the volume over the fairly dull OEM exhaust note. For £100 ish, it seem worth trying - and if it's then too quiet I can source a silenced cat-back to replace. Unless anyone's looking to swap their cat-back exhaust for something very loud? Turns out I do not have the original cat as a spare - I have the original overpipe. Thanks for everyone's contribution. Really helpful.

I found a worn thing - not sure what it is, or how concerned to be - pls help

Hi Apologies for multiple topics, not sure on the correct way to ask unrelated questions. Found this, when adjusting suspension. I'm fairly clueless mechanically, so I have no idea what I'm looking at, or how worried I should be. It could be old damage, caused by something no longer on the car. I have no idea. Same on both sides - photos below.
