To me, the best way is to use products that offer UV protection. One example is the 303 protectant.

I have the bilstein b14's also. They are more civilized than the stock ones, although ride comfort is not outstanding. What I like about them is their ability to handle every imperfection in the road.Turning in feels sharper also.

I would rather drive barefoot than wearing slippers. Slippers have a tendency to slip-off and stuck on pedals.

I would try 30psi. The chalk test is another method to know the perfect pressure your tires.

What I like about the Michelin is that they have really a good treadlife.
