    TD over pipe

That's not a overpipe, that's a down pipe for the exhaust manifold. This get replaced when you fit the TD Turbo kit, the overpipe doesn't.
  3. I've reserved a table for 15 people (there's quite a few interested on the Facebook group). Order's over 10 require food ordering in advance, so can anyone who's coming let me know what food they want before the 19th, Thanks.

    Deacons '86

What's the simplest way for me to word this.... If your happy to try these for the £400 investment (F&R) then do it, I highly doubt you'll be disappointed. They are probably the best braking upgrade for a stock caliper I've experienced. My only concern and I've spoken with @Deacon about this is, what will the durability be like running a high spec endurance pad on the disc's and calipers over the course of a couple of years. My BBK has been faultless over the 3 years I've had and it's not used any consumables other than when I've wanted to try different pads. Ask me about the PFC08's again in a months time, as I should be getting a set for my BBK, to use at Spa.
  5. Hello Everyone Myself and @Deacon have decided to host another Midlands lunch time meet, as it's been awhile since the last one. We'll be returning to the Smoke Stop BBQ restaurant which we attended in June last year. It's an ideal location for a meet and to grab some good food, think big juicy burgers, melt in the mouth steaks, succulent fried chicken, etc, you get the idea. We're planning to host the meet in a couple of weeks time, on Saturday 21st March. If you are interested please confirm below, final numbers need to be confirmed a few days before hand. The car park is of reasonable size, however we expect it to get rather busy. Please can we all aim to get there for 11:30 (no earlier please), this will allow us to park up together. Here's the menu: http://smokestopbbq.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Menu-for-web.pdf Thanks for looking. Will Location: SmokeStop BBQ Welshpool Road Shrewsbury Shropshire SY5 9LH Google Maps: https://goo.gl/maps/RJUi2Req3QQi1pZ79 Date: Saturday 21st March From: 11:30 with lunch booked at 12:00. Here are some photo's to get your mouth watering: List: 1. @will300 2. @Deacon 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10.

Update 21/02/2020 - Bedford Autodrome Trackday Myself and several other members of the 86 drivers club recently attended an MSV trackday at Bedford Autodrome, this would be my 2nd trackday of 2020. I was looking forward to getting back on track again, especially at Bedford. Whilst some people see it as bland, I really enjoy it and think it has good mix of charactistics from long straights, tight corners and sweeping bends, making it a good circuit for a medium powered car like the 86/BRZ. Plus with it being the UK longest circuit, you normally get plenty of track time without too much hold up. The day started out well, with me having some fun chasing down a Honda S2000, unfortunately he got black flagged, I'm not sure what for as he was driving well. Knowing Bedford I suspect it was noise limit, anyway I carried on for a couple more laps. I was probably pushing abit harder than I should have been this early on (making mistakes basically). The second session, I ended up behind a very dirty diesel VW Golf 🤢, unfortunately whilst chasing him down on the inner circuit straight (not sure what the actual name is) my engine management light came on. The car felt fine and had been performing perfectly fine up to this point. I drove back to the pits and into our garage where I turned the car off and left it for a minute before restarting it, unfortunately the light stayed on. Thankfully a fellow 86 owner, Michael Chan came to my rescue and lent me his diagnostic code reader, we read the code and found a P0351 error, Ignition Coil A. Knowing that this was a common occurance for older 86's, we cleared the code and restarted the car and the engine light was gone, happy days or so I thought. Session 3, I went back on track and ended up behind @VAD17, I had some fun for a couple of laps keeping up with him. It's surprising how well matched we are around a lap of Bedford, he's abit quicker on the straights than me thanks to his TD Turbo kit, but I end up catching him in the corners. It was going well until the dreaded engine management light came back on. So I pulled back in the pits and read the error again, it was the same P0351 code. Session 4, my final session of the day, I was less aggressive on the car by shifting at 6K RPM (thanks to @Lauren for the suggestion) rather than the 7.5K RPM rev limit. I did try and keep up with Michael Chan in his 86 for a lap or two, before the power deficit came into play. In the end I managed about 5 laps in this session before the EML popped up on the dash. By this point I'd had enough for the day and decided just to park the car and get a couple of passenger laps in. The drive back home was completely trouble free, and I've used the car for a week going to work without an EML. Thankfully I'd already booked the car into Rogue Motorsport in March for a pre Spa-Francorchamp checkup. I'll get them to swap out the dodgy coilpack for another one with some added heat reflective tape. Hopefully this will stop the issue from happening in the future. I've also ordered a Carista OBD2 dongle, so I can clear any error codes in future. Here's a couple of pictures from the day (basically the same photo repeated 😄 )

Need help with BBK kit (Reyland kit or other)

KW Clubsports will be overkill, I'd look at Tein Flex A for the best value coilover capable of both daily driving and track use. Coilovers will give you a much larger range of adjustment compared to bolts and are easier to setup. As you are going to do all the modifications at once this is the best option. Adjustable rear arms, you have a couple of basic options from SPC or Eibach, or you could go for ones with more adjustability from Summit/SWAVE, Verus Engineering or SPL Parts.

Need help with BBK kit (Reyland kit or other)

Hi @Quemadillo Reyland kit, good for my usage? Yes the Reyland kit is excellent for daily and track use. It's correctly sized and not to affect brake bias and is a cost effective upgrade. I've done 30minutes sessions using the kit with Ferrodo DS2500 brake pads without fade. Still on discs after over 3 years of use (maybe I'm not hard enough on the brakes). Also note the Essex kit uses a race spec caliper without dust boots. Reyland replacement parts (rotors), are "special" like Essex or I will be able to find the rotors on any AP Racing dealer? There isn't really anything special about the Reyland discs, they can custom cut them to whatever style you'd like, i.e. add groves or j-hooks to them. AP disc's are a quality disc, due to the internal vein design and they are lighter. However AP disc's are twice the price. AP replacement disc part no: CP3580-2898 G8 (Grooved discs) You can also get replacement discs from DBA, PFC and Godspeed Brakes. (I'm sure there was one other manufacturer that does them). Do you think / know if Reyland kit will fit on my OZ Ultraleggera 17 x 7.5 ET35? I've tried a set of 17x7 +40 wheels and they clear. It's mainly the spoke design you need to watch. I'd expect your wheels to clear. Any order advise in terms of my use case? Not really, I will add that there is lot's of brake pad choice available. You can get pads from EBC, Carbotech, Endless, PFC, Pagid, Mintex, Carbon Lorraine, Winmax etc. Hope that helps.

    Oil cooler needed?

@MartinT anywhere between 90-100 is optimal, for normal driving. You shouldn't need an oil cooler, if your running a premium oil you should be fine. If you start tracking the car, then yes you ideally should get an oil cooler. For reference, I'm using Millers CFS-0w30 NT and Millers state: suitable for operating at 125 with peak upto 150. On track I tend to get up to about 125 and then the temperature tends to sits there due to my oil cooler.

    Brakes seized?

That looks like a cool product @sam534, wish I know about it a week ago before I did a big car cleaning supplies restock.

    Brakes seized?

@VAD17 someone asked a similar question on an M3 forum, one of the guys from Essex replied - screenshot below. Not entirely sure what I'd do in that situation, based on the below you should be fine to run the smaller pad until the disc's die. Maybe return the brand new set and get some in the correct size, then swap these with the used small set and keep them incase of emergency/or ebay them.

    Subaru brz price rise

In the beginning it was 1 BRZ to Every 10 GT86's but that stopped after a couple of years. I suspect it won't actually make that much difference to BRZ sales, I mean they are basically none existent anyway. And I can see them pulling the car entirely from sale in the UK, over the next year or so. Who was the last member to join the club with a 69 plate BRZ? Is there even one?

    GT86 Tyre choice

Another vote for PS4's, currently running Yoko AD08RS but when I next need tyres I'm going to go back to PS4 as they have the edge in wet grip and very similar dry grip. Here's the cheapest price I can find, in the stock size: https://www.camskill.co.uk/m54b0s15p135294/Michelin_Tyres_Car_Michelin_Pilot_Sport_4_PS4_-_215_45_R17_(91Y)_XL_TL_Fuel_Eff_%3A_C_Wet_Grip%3A_A_NoiseClass%3A_2_Noise%3A_71dB

26/01/2020 - Donington Park Trackday As I'm sure most of you know, the club recently attended a trackday at Donington Park, thanks to @VAD17 for organising. This was to be my first trackday of 2020, at a circuit I've never driven before desite being the closest circuit to where I live at less than 30miles away. Knowing that it was a January trackday I didn't have much hope for the weather, thankfully the morning was dry but very greasy. These conditions meant it was very tricky for even the most experienced drivers and I don't think I've been to another trackday which had as many red flags as Donington did in the morning. Which was a shame as I didn't get alot of seat time, my longest session was about 25 minutes. I litterally left our pit garage only to be stopped at the end of the pit straight as the track had just been red flagged, however this meant I was to be the first one out in the next session. It helped that there was a couple of very slow cars right behind me, so I could get some space on track with no one else to immediately worry about. I made sure I got as much seat time as possible during that session, and eventually the track started to dry out. Below is a video of that session, taking it easy whilst trying to learning the circuit. (This is footage taken from the new GoPro Hero 8 which I'm testing - unfortunately the free video editor I'm using didn't use the best export ratio, which is why the footage is square) The rest of the day was abit of a mess, I think I only had one more clean session as there were numerious red flags or the condition changed. It started to rain just before lunch and the afternoon was very wet. Unfortunately the AD08RS don't really like greasy conditions, they are fine in the dry or full on wet, but in between not so much. @Adi had has instructor there for the afternoon and I listened whilst the instructor and @Hokum discussed what lines to take during wet conditions, this helped massively during my next session. Overall I think I managed 6 or 7 sessions during the day, mostly because of the number of red flags and people needing to be towed back to the pits. However atleast I can now say I've done Donington and I'm eager to go back during the summer. Here are a couple of photos:

January 2020 - New Year Plans Happy New Year everyone. I hope everyone had an excellent break and are eager as I am to get straight back into the car season. Here's a quick run down of my plans for this year: 1. Order a set of forged wheels. 2. Order a set of track brake pads and new disc's (need to check the life on existing discs - any idea's how you do this?) 3. Go on a European Roadtrip. 4. Do atleast 1 European trackday. 5. Get the car detailed (resealed). Possible's: 1. Order Harrop Supercharger (or save the money and use towards a house deposit/new Supra). 1a. New clutch 2. Rear Wing or spoiler. 3. Look into buying a bucket seat. So far it's looking good, I've got 2 items sorted and another 2 in the works, more the be revealed when they arrive/happen.

September 19 - Exhaust Issue The weekend after I arrived home from Snetterton I decide to jack the car up and have a look to see if I could see where the exhaust was blowing from. Hoping it would be a gasket and a simple fix. After spending 10 minutes on the floor I eventually found a stress crack in the large central resonator. Boo, not a simple fix. Fortunately the car was booked in at Rogue Motorsport to have it's 6 year services, in the process of booking it in I informed them of the issue. The exhaust was all custom made by Rogue and they were happy to fix it free of charge. Whilst I could call this a design flaw in the system, I'm aware of two other manufacture's systems which have had exactly the same issue in the same place. Speaking to Rogue they said this was probably due to vibrations/harmonics when the car is put under heavy load and they suggested replacing the one larger central resonator with two smaller ones and a support relief. Here's a photo of the crack, unfortunately I didn't get any photo's of the replacement pipe.

Update 29/08/19 - Snetterton Trackday Following on from the trackday at Bedford on Tuesday, I headed to Norfolk to spend a couple of days away with the family and also do another trackday, this time at Snetterton. Normally Snetterton is a 3hour drive away and not a journey I want to be doing before and after a track day, so this was ideal. Unfortunately as I previously mentioned the exhaust started blowing at Bedford, I'd had a quick look under the car and couldn't see anything so I assumed it was just a gasket. The blowing noise was coming from the center of the car, by the front pipe to central resonator area. I decided to carry on and head to Snetterton and thankfully the issue didn't get worse on the drive there. Snetterton was a fun day, which lots of cool cars and good driving standards. When I arrived at the circuit I noticed there was another 86/BRZ owner, who'm I spoke to and he let me share his garage, which was very nice of him, unfortunately he doesn't use any social platforms so I'll probably never meet him again ☹️ Other than the issue with the exhaust the car performed well. It was a very warm day but cooler than the previous day at Bedford so the tyres felt alot better and didn't seem to have any issue's. Here's a couple of photo's from the day:
  22. If I remember correctly the SE had cloth seats where as the SE Lux had half leather / alcantara heated seats.
  23. Bump, breakfast meet is this Saturday.
