Event Title: Midlands Meet - 15th June (Smokestop BBQ) Event Author: will300 Event Date: 15.06.2019 Hello Everyone Myself and @Deacon have decided to host another Midlands lunch time meet, as it's been awhile since the last one. We recently came across an awesome looking BBQ restaurant in Shropshire, called Smoke Stop BBQ. Which looks like an ideal location for a meet and to grab some good food, think big juicy burgers, melt in the mouth steaks, succulent fried chicken, etc, you get the idea. We are planning to host the meet in a months time, on the 15th of June. If you are interested please confirm below, final numbers need to be confirmed two weeks before hand. The car park is of reasonable size, however we expect it to get rather busy. Please can we all aim to get there for 11:30 (no earlier please), this will allow us to park up together. A table has been provisionally booked for 10 people at 12:00. Here's the menu: http://smokestopbbq.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Menu-for-web.pdf Thanks for looking. Will Location: SmokeStop BBQ Welshpool Road Shrewsbury Shropshire SY5 9LH Google Maps: https://goo.gl/maps/RJUi2Req3QQi1pZ79 Date: Saturday 15th June From: 11:30 with lunch booked at 12:00. We've already confirmed numbers with the venue.... However I'm sure one more person won't matter.

General FI questions - Rod strength and supercharger whine

This seems like a good excuse for a good old whine... 😁 -
Update 02/06/19 - Schroth Harness Installation As I'm starting to do more track days, I decided I needed to do something to stop me moving about in the seat so much. My initial plan was to purchase a bucket seat, however after looking at the various options and the cost, I decided against this idea. Mainly because I was eyeing up an Edirb 023 seat, which meant lots of ££££'s. I therefore decide to get a harness setup first, as this is a much cheaper option. I'd seen that quite a few people are using the Schroth Racing Rallye 3 ASM harness, so after speaking with @VAD17 (and a couple of passenger laps) & @Mike I decided to go ahead and order one in Red. It's a straight forward install once you know what your doing, although removing and refitting the seat belt buckle nut is a royal pain in the backside. Here are couple of photo from the installation:

Update 01/06/19 - Detailing Job Over the last couple of weeks I noticed my windscreen wasn't clearing when using the windscreen wipers, it was just smearing the water over the screen. Not cool when your trying to drive down a dual carriageway and you can't see straight in front of you. So yesterday I decide to clean the car and then re-sealed the glass. My go to product is G-Techniq G1 Clearvision Smart Glass, I've used this for a couple of years and it never fails to impress with how well it repels water. It takes about 40minutes to apply, you apply 3 layers to each window (you only really need 3 on the front, but it's easier to do all the windows), 5 minutes apart. Then you leave the coating to cure for 15minutes, before removing any left of residue with the G2 remover. I also bought a set of replacement windscreen wipers, I was previously using Michelin Stealth blades, however it appears these are no longer produced, so I opted for some Denso DUR-055R & DUR-050R blades. p.s. For a single car the G-Techniq G1 coating comes in a 15ml bottle, this is more than enough to do all the windows on an 86/BRZ, with 3 coats on each window. I purchased the larger 100ml option as I'm going to do a couple of cars. Here's a couple of photo's showing the beading:

Interestingly FT86Speedfactory have 10% off this weekend:
-
It's an exact copy, so yes it will leave holes exposed.

3d Carbon bought the complete kit design from 5 Axis / Five:AD. You can order the 3d Carbon version of the lip from FT86Speedfactory, here: http://www.ft86speedfactory.com/five-ad-rear-spoiler-various-colors-2013-frs.html#.XPA-EIj0nAQ As for the car, it looks familiar but I also haven't seen it for a while.

For Sale: Wedssport TC105X 17" wheels with Michelin PS4 tyres
will300 replied to GT86Curn's topic in For Sale GT86 / BRZ Parts
If only you didn't get a staggered setup, otherwise I'd have had your arm off at that price.... Oh well 😢 Good luck with the sale as that's a bargain with tyres as well. -
About £130 as the calipers only needed painting. However i'd avoid BCS as their service was terrible and the finish is crap. There are a couple of other places to use, Godspeed Brakes being the one that springs to mind.

Hi Stu, Assuming you've gone for the CP9200 caliper with 330mm disc (not the larger 355mm setup). The best and cheapest option is just to keep the standard rear calipers & paint them. The rears don't really do a lot or generate anywhere near the amount of heat that the fronts do, therefore making a rear BBK pointless (looks aside). If you buy AP's rear caliper setup, I expect it will substantially change the brake bias with the CP9200 setup. On this note the AP Rear disc's are actually bigger than the front discs at 335mm. It will however work with the larger 6 piston 355mm setup. You could also do what I've done, which is get a set of the STi rear Brembo calipers, this has a slight affect on brake bias but it's hardly noticeable. More information can be found on my build thread: https://www.gt86.org.uk/forums/forums/topic/4097-will300s-subaru-brz-build/?do=findComment&comment=105056

It's definitely worth while getting a Japan Rail Pass (you'll need one each), if your going for a couple of weeks. You can get a green class (1st class) pass, however you need to book the seats prior to getting on the train (atleast an hour before hand). You can get the pass here: https://www.japan-rail-pass.com/?currency-code=GBP Whilst your on the site, order a Sim card & a couple of Suica cards (I spent something like £80 over 3 weeks on subways & trains, when I couldn't use the JR Pass). The pocket wifi might also be useful, however most of the accommodation I stayed in included them. Also the Suica card can be used for various things not just transport, which is really handy. That is until you find out some of the arcade machines accept them.... 😄 This is a good website to use for reference & finding various things to do: https://www.japan-guide.com/ If you're spending a couple of days in Tokyo, make sure you visit Tokyo Bay (Odaiba). You can get the subway there and visit Shinonome Autobacs, Toyota Megaweb & historic museum (this is in the shopping center opposite), DiverCity Plaza to see the massive Gundam and Gundam museum. Then finally head to Aqua City Odaiba and have dinner on the top floor, where you can look over the bay and see the rainbow bridge at night. Depending on who you are going with (this won't work with children), make sure you take a look at the Mario Kart tours: https://maricar.com/en/faq_shinagawa.html - you will need an international drivers license for this. One final point, on my trip I ended up staying in alot of different locations, whilst this was good for sight seeing it meant alot of traveling. If I was going for 2 weeks, I'd probably stay one week in Tokyo and then stay the 2nd week in Osaka - Osaka is a brilliant base as the bullet trains are so efficient you can do Kyoto, Kobe, Okayama & Hiroshima within an comfortable train journey (Osaka to Hiroshima is 90 minutes).

Toyota advertising standard specification which is not fitted to their car
will300 replied to Unhappy Owner's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Imagine my surprise when I bought a car with an advertised 200hp only to find out none of them come with that..... 🤣....... 😥 -
Both Keith's did indeed have issues, however that was with the older version of the kit. K-Sport have since updated their caliper design, which the likes of @VAD17 & a couple of others have run with out issue. (The Pro's & Con's I produced on the 1st page, apply to both versions of the K-Sport kit)

Update 11/05/19 - Blyton Park Trackday On Saturday I attended a Javelin Trackday at Blyton Park, it was a good day with everyone well behaved and reasonable weather, slightly overcast with only a small spell of rain in the afternoon, around 3o'clock. After my previous trackday at Bedford Autodrome, I had an issue with the brake pedal going soft after a couple of laps, so last month I took the car to Rogue Motorsport to have the oil changed and the brake fluid replaced. Rogue bleed the brake system (inc the master cylinder) and supplied Millers Racing Brake Fluid 300 Plus. I didn't experience any issues with a soft pedal at Blyton, however it's possible that might be because Blyton is alot shorter than Bedford so the brakes aren't getting worked as much. For research purposes I ordered a set of Racetech Motorsport temperature stickers (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Racetech-Motorsport-Temperature-Test-Strip-Sticker-121-280c-Pack-of-10/231396436152?hash=item35e04d68b8:g:K98AAOSwPhdVDZ~m) to apply to the brake calipers. The max temperature registered on the front calipers was 143°c, the rear's didn't even reach the minimum temperature of 121°c. I'm going to also look at getting an infrared thermometer (I'm fairly sure I already have one somewhere), which I can then use the measure the disc temperature. With quite a few trackday's coming up in the next couple of months I'm considering swapping the front pads out and re-fitting the Ferrodo DS2500's. Whilst I really like the MX72 pads on the road as they have better inital bite and feel compared to the Ferrodo's, I think they lack the aggressiveness of a more track biased pad. I'm also going to order a set of track tyres to go on my 949 Racing wheels, I'm considering the available options but it looks like the most likely tyre will be the new generation of Yokohama AD08RS. Here are the photo's from the day:

How badly kinked? Non-Res if you plan on leaving the rest of the exhaust stock.
-
I believe so yes.

Unfortunately there's only one way to know for sure. However modern paint is much more durable and less resistant to fading. Do you know if the car has ever been detailed? Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
