Update 05/05/19 - Japfest 2019 Today I attended Japfest 2019 at Silverstone, with 59 other members of the drivers/owners club. This was a great turn out for the club and nice to see so many faces new and old. Here's a couple of photo's of my car from the day. There are a couple of close up of the Verus Engineering splitter with race upgrade kit and dry carbon end plates, as I've just noticed I haven't posted any close up's before.

    OEM wheels query

@JohnM, why do you want wider tyres? You mention you'd get rid of the Yoko's is that because you want more grip? If so just buy Michelin PS4's in stock size. Tyre compound is more important than tyre width.

    Degreasing panels

The most I did was hoover the boot out and then use some anti-bac wipes on any remaining crap. The rest of the car was fair clean, the lower half of the doors were abit grubby, but the sound deadening still stuck. You shouldn't need to heat the panels if it's a nice day, this weekend should be perfect.

@Mike Here some of my observations of the various kits - bare in mind I thought about this for 18 months before committing to the Reyland kit. I actually ordered but then cancelled both the Essex AP Racing Sprint kit and the Godspeed AP kit, before settling on the Reyland kit, this was after speaking with @Ade and one of the technical team at AP Racing. Welcome Adam. You've just reminded me I need to sort out another Midlands meet.

What to look for when buying a used GT86/BRZ

@Test Drives Unlimited wheel nuts or the studs?
  14. will300

    Hey all.

Welcome Maz, You should be fine removing the decals from a year old car (colour will be fine). The easiest way to removal any vinyl is a steamer, if you don't have a steamer lots of hot water. This softens the glue more consistently than a heat gun/hair dryer and should leave no residue. Just try and get the car clean as possible first and have a clay bar to hand once you've removed the vinyl, for any grime around the edges.

    First Track Day Snetterton

^ This is absolutely the best advice. I'd also recommend booking some instruction, as this can help massively with your technique. Finally to confirm what @maurice said, try to keep stint length to around 15 minutes and then rest the car (and yourself) in the pits for 15 minutes before you go back out on circuit.

    Front number plate holes

Not sure how yours looks, but this is mess Subaru decided was a good idea on EDM & JDM cars. 😠 What were they thinking.... 😆

    Front number plate holes

Unfortunately @Badger there is no simple or easy way to fix this (on the BRZ atleast). I've looked into this abit and the options I came across were: 1. Smoothing the moustache, filling the holes and painting it. - The bodyshop I took it to said they could do it, but it'll look terrible and he'd rather not do it. 2. Buy a US spec bumper / facelift bumper - Expensive 3. Wrapping the moustache - Cheap, but the holes would still be noticable 4. Cutting the moustache out. 5. Getting a moustache cover (Kansai Service make one) - Best option I could fine. 6. Replacing the bumper with an aftermarket one. I'm looking at DOT4 fluids as they tend to have higher boiling points. This could definitely be a possibility as another member suggested similar. Fluid is only 5 months old, including 3 track days. Both fluids you've listed are possibilities. I was doing about 5 laps a time, although the 1 session in the afternoon straight from lunch I did like 8 laps (inc In & Out). The brakes themselves felt fine even after a stint that long, it's just the pedal was too soft, even after 1 lap. Assuming your talking about the brake board by the pits, most of the day I was braking at the board. I did get up top out at 125mph on the long straight, when I reached the first marker. If I was going that fast I'd then slam on the brakes and over cook it/braking too hard and mess up the chicane. Just need more instruction for there. I'm also considering new brake lines, as I'm currently running a mixed setup. The fronts are the ones provided with the AP calipers and the rear are a set of hosetech's.

Update 19/03/2019 - Bedford Trackday Another month, another trackday. This time at Bedford Autodrome, I've been to Bedford several times now and it's such a good circuit as it has quite a mixed track layout, long straights, tight corners, hairpins, chicanes, etc. It was a fantastic day, everyone was well behaved, there was lots of track time, only 1 red flag and little traffic. The weather was also good for March and dry for most of the day, other than 5 mins at lunch when there was a quick shower. Thank you @VAD17 for arranging. There is nothing new to report on the car, it performed relatively flawlessly as expected. A few things I've noticed, the car doesn't seem to roll as much at Bedford compared to Silverstone, so Anti Roll Bars have been removed from the shopping list for now. Suspension for both track day was set at the 1st click from full stiff. @willclarke said it's very flat round the corners which he didn't expect. Overall I'm happy with the balance of the car, its very neutral, precise and easy to rotate on throttle, making it excellent in the corners. My only complaint is with my brake fluid. I'm not happy with how my pedal feels and how soft it gets after a short period. I'm currently using ATE Type 200 which although is track focused, I think I'm going to get something with a higher boiling point. Here are a couple of photo's from the day:
  22. Alex is running the HKS turbo kit, so the manifold is a different design.

    New wheel & tyre size

17x9 +35 with a 245/40 tyre is quite an aggressive setup, and not something I'd want to run on a stock car. This is mainly down to the size of the tyre and it's effect on the rotation of car. A 18x8 with a 225/40/18 won't affect the dynamics of the car and will still give you more grip.
  24. will300

Looking to get these alloys - a second opinion?

Just for your reference this is what a 17x8 +35 wheel looks like in the wheel well: (not my photos')

Looking to get these alloys - a second opinion?

Offset isn't adjustable, it's a fixed dimension. You can lower the offset by fitting spacer (which I wouldn't recommend) or you can look for different wheels. Japan Racing do a similar wheel in 17x8 +35: https://www.driftworks.com/jr-wheels-jr3-17x8-et35-5x100-5x114-3-black.html
