Valve reliability for Track Ref:2012 Recall
will300 replied to Spuddy's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
You shouldn't have any issues, the failure rate for the valve springs is extremely low. I haven't had the recall and don't plan to. I've tracked the car for several years without issue, if it was going to break it would have done so already. I'd honestly be more concerned about bearing failure from lack of oil pressure, but even thats a very low risk as well. Just make sure you car is maintained correctly and it should be fine. -

Then, on to Dingle Dell and the sharp left-hander that is Stirling bend at which point you leave the woods and come under the bridge hard on the brakes for Clearways. I lied, there was once a demo car by a scottish company called RA Motorsport Development (the company has now closed down) which had the Greddy turbo kit fitted, however they sold the car to an international customer in 2015. https://www.facebook.com/media/set?vanity=RAMotorsportDevelopments&set=a.597443766935930

The Greddy turbo kit isn't a popular option here in the UK, as most people have gone for the AVO Turbo kit from Fensport or Tuning Developments own turbo kit. I'm also not sure if the turbo kit is available anymore, as the Greddy USA website lists it a discontinued, see: http://www.greddy.com/products/turbochargers/all-turbo-kits/filter:make:Scion/. However the Japanese website has no mention of it being discontinued: https://en.trust-power.com/products/turbo/【zn6zc6】greddy-bolt-on-turbo-kit-t518z-10cm2-non-catalyzer/ As for owners of the kit I can't think of a single car fitted with the Greddy kit. There are three owners, that I'm aware of who have a replica kit, made by a company called Speed by Design which was a direct copy of the Greddy kit, but this kit had massive quality control issues and has since been discontinued. I suspect the reason the Greddy kit never really sold here was the lack of availability and it's price. Looking around at the UK 86/BRZ specialists, only Torqen list the kit on their website: https://www.torqen.uk/toyota/toyota-gt86/turbos-superchargers/turbo-kits/4284-toyota-gt86-greddy-t51z-tuner-turbo-kit-11510094.html However for this price it's near enough the same price as a fitted TD or AVO turbo, but for just the turbo kit, so you'd need to factor in installation costs as well. You could also import the kit (assuming it's still available) from RHDJapan: https://www.rhdjapan.com/trust-greddy-t518z-bolt-on-turbo-kit-without-sports-catalyzer-86-zn6-brz-zc6.html, however whilst this looks cheap, you've got to add shipping which is £300, then there will be atleast another £500 for shipping and import taxes and finally installation, around £1000. This means your still looking at around £4,500 for the kit. It also worth mentioning Greddy made a couple of different versions of the kit with turbo options and kits with and without catalytic converters. The one you want is the T518Z kit as this was designed for the stock engine and fuel system. There's more information about the kit here on the US forum: https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68154&highlight=greddy Hope this helps.

Kouki 86 low mileage direction - Supercharger/Lightweight/GR
will300 replied to Feemono's topic in Modifications
@Feemono & anyone else interested, At the recent Donington trackday I noticed two cars didn't have the little intake resonator despite having an otherwise stock intake. However what both cars did have was the Tuning Developments exhaust manifold, I therefore suspect that TD remove this as part of there upgrade package, most likely so it doesn't get mellted by the hot exhaust. -
Unfortunately due to the shape and the fact the surround is clipped into place, your going to struggle to find a pure carbon piece. This is the closest all in one carbon style piece that I'm aware of: https://www.japanparts.com/parts/detail/?id=42130 As a much cheaper alternative have you considered having the part hydro dipped?

The majority of companies offer both a front & rear kit. However you don't need to do the rears, just doing the fronts will be sufficient. Rear calipers are mostly just for looks. It depends on which Brembo front calipers you are referring to.

Kouki 86 low mileage direction - Supercharger/Lightweight/GR
will300 replied to Feemono's topic in Modifications
From what I've read, I think your going to have the same issues with the new GR86 that you've got with the current GT. The Subaru boxer engine isn't really a revvy engine and it's not been designed that way. Yes the new FA24 has more power and torque which is why its faster, but it still won't be a light engine that likes to rev freely. You can ofcourse try and make either engine much lighter but we'd be talking (tens?) thousands of pounds with an engine rebuild featuring a stroker kit, lighter rods, pistons and upgraded cams. What's your ultimate goal for the car? Just to be a fast daily or a track car. If your happy with the current car, I'd atleast go down the lightweight flywheel and driveshaft route to begin with.
