I find RainX was ok as long as you keep it regularly topped up and don't ever want to stop using it. Once it starts to break down or you stop topping up, it starts to smear like crazy and then you need to shift it with something fairly strong like a glass polish or clay or both.

They're all good. I bought loads for round the house (tablets, phones, monitors, TVs). Why not go mad and put the RainX down, if you're after a quality hydrophobic glass sealant, try http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/engine-and-exterior/glass-cleaners-sealants/gtechniq-glass-sealant-kit/prod_911.html you'll maybe apply it twice a year and it shifts water so well you'll never need your wipers again

Detailing is always personal, I've used Megs and many samples from Waxybox, back when it was a thing. So far Stoner Invisible Glass is the best one I've used. As well as cleaning, it has the perfect flash time to allow you to work it fully and not leave streaks. http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/interior/interior-glass-cleaners/stoner-invisible-glass/prod_363.html I'd apply it with a regular quality MF towel, but microsuede cloths are good on glass http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/cgi-bin/sh000007.pl?WD=suede&PN=gyeon-q2m-suedes-cat24.html#aGYSU0002 Some info from over on detailing world http://www.detailingworld.com/forum/showthread.php?t=343505

That sounds perfect, do you have a link to any? thanks

I'm gonna see how they last, if they start to come away I'll get some counter sunk bolts with washers underneath.
-
I just screwed them in to the floor then dremmeled the excess off a touch as the tips are rather sharp. Not reinforced it at all. I am considering putting some Velcro on the underside to stop the boot floor getting air over bumps and crests. It seems quite prone to lifting.

Nice! sadly these are belligerent seagulls. They don't move for anything or anyone.

When purchasing quality wheels second hand, such as the Rays, how can you tell they're not fakes? By fakes I mean actual knock offs made with the "real" markings etc, not simply design copies such as Rotas.

PM your address and I'll send you the net fixings. Got the armrest from Fensport here there's a handy guide here too - make sure you print it at 100% . My iPhone 7+ just still fits in there, on its side, wedged against the cup holder.

Makes perfect sense, but I'm too sentimental to strip something that's been painstakingly built 💔

Don't know what you mean

Quick maintenance bath this weekend, then took her out to get all dirty again, ready for the next wash. I think I'm in love with this shade of blue, so much so I've booked in for a paint correction to deal with the PO's one bucket full of sand washing regime.

Grimspeed piles cover, regretful purchase

Imgur is similar to photobucket, but quicker and without the endless adds. It works better, for me, on desktop than mobile/app, but it's good for embedding images. You can ignore the social media side of it and just grab the free photo hosting. It's dead easy. Sign up. Upload your images. Click the image you want to post here. Copy the 'BBcode' link. Paste it into your post where you want the image to appear. -
Nice result. Get down to your local body shop for a quote and go from there.

They should do the repair, as they'd offered, if you accept that. I think you'd struggle to claim the costs of travel (except by their very goodwill) particularly when you chose the dealer knowing how far away it is. A free repair is not being unreasonable. In terms of rejection, you don't even need to accept their repair offer - if you felt sufficiently strongly. The terms are outlined here http://www.shoosmiths.co.uk/client-resources/legal-updates/consumer-rights-act-2015-and-automotive-sector-10282.aspx but you can also read the act online, particularly this section http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2015/15/section/9/enacted about 'freedom from minor defects' and 'appearance and finish'. But I really wouldn't go shouting the odds about this though if they're offering a repair, it's a last resort and if they call your bluff, you may have to go through with it.
-
Do you know they did the previous repair? I'd proceed in good faith with them. Remember, you've not got a problem, until you've got a problem.

The knowledge is all an illusion, I'm not first hand experienced, but I've come across a few people with similar issues and the CRA is black and white on this. They all go the same way - rejection under the CRAwithin 30 days is your nuclear option. But, if your dealer is being genuinely helpful (not stonewalling until your 30 days are over) personally I'd leave the CC company alone for now (great Plan B though) and get it sorted with the dealer, especially if you're planning to use them for ongoing service & maintenace. What you don't want is to bully them into a cheapo/crap repair (especially if it needs paint blending for the corroded area) that you're then arguing about indefinitely. As with anything like this though, do what you think is right, not what some random on the internet says You can always get free, impartial and genuinely knowledge based advice from Citizens Advice too.
-
Be polite but firm with the dealer, explaining what you expect them to do to put it right. If they don't play ball, reject it under Consumer Rights Act, you've got 30 days. Doesn't matter if it's new or used for CRA. The only spanner is you could be made to prove it was there at delivery, which may be tricky, but not impossible. If you do go down the second path, make sure you do things in writing and send any correspondence special delivery for the signatures. Then drop the car off with them and get your cash back. You'd be well with your rights. http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/advice/the-second-hand--car-i-bought-has-a-problem-what-are-my-rights Good luck, hope you sort it amicably.

Oooooooohhhhhhhh. That's very nice.

The headunit stuff is indeed a horror show. Not seen an alcantara panel, I thought the 86 came with the, err, interesting, carbon effect finish? I'd be tempted by something soft touch instead.

Hope you don't mind me tagging my two cents of BRZ action to the end of this thread? Popped into my "local" stealer for the power steering recall and they had three MY 2017 BRZs sitting there, sadly none for me to drive I did still have a nosey around to check out the new bits. Pretty much as per Lauren's excellent review in the OP but the BRZ has had more of a face widening than lift. The corners of the front bumper seem to be sticking out a bit further to me and a bit more fussy round the fog, despite the loss of the separate DRL. I won't be splashing out on the new headlights, even if they are retrofit, not a fan of the six LEDs personally. Internally though, I am jealous of the new, covered dash insert in front of the passenger. It fits in very nicely with the rest of the padding and cuts down the acres of plastic. For every positive there is a negative, namely the piano black dash around the headunit. Will someone at Subaru please think of the fingerprints??? Love the new headunit controls on the steering wheel, I miss these from my Zed. But I think I prefer the split spoke at 6 o'clock on the Mk1. Back outside again, I wasn't exactly blown away by the new wheels nor the rear spoiler (think of the PITA of drying between it and the boot lid!), I do strongly approve of the shark fin antenna. Last but not least the new key fob is so much better, metal, heavy and premium feeling - if this is backward compatible, I'll be having one. All in all it's a modest improvement IMO, taken as a whole cosmetic package. On one hand I'd have liked to take it for a spin, but it was also hurling down sleet and snow, so probably best I didn't. I won't be reaching for the finance agreement just yet.

Sorted it, thanks billdingo. Only minor moment of panic was when I came to test it. Screen switched over to camera as expected but all I got was this! Couldn't figure out how I'd managed to mount the camera so incredibly wrongly... ...yeah, you should always shut the boot before checking your reverse camera
-
I've got a reverse camera 90% installed with my new headunit, the last bit is getting the reverse light wiring. Previously I've tapped camera power and headunit signal from the reverse light wire, but that was with the reverse light nice and high up in the rear brake light cluster, near the camera. With the BRZ its down in the diffuser, which looks great but is further away. I thought I'd ask if more experienced installers know if there is a convenient place around the boot area to tap the reverse light for dash cam power and headunit signal? Thanks.

Excellent! Nice and convenient. Thanks mate.
