Sideways? replied to faith's topic in Meets/Show & Shine - Pictures & Videos
I'm a member of the same club as the guy with the Orange GT86 you said had terrible wheels... needless to say I think the same, I could have had my car on that stand as well but I couldn't get organized in time... :-( Pictures look good otherwise though, I think that Police car is just a publicity stunt... -
Lauren I'm glad you are starting to warm to the softer feel of the winter tyres, its all that tread block movement due to the sipes which makes them feel softer and less responsive - the grip is there it is just not as obvious as with summer tyres... I also agree with both what I have said earlier and Spec K and Lauren have confirmed that winter tyres cannot be beaten when it comes to clearing standing water and general wet weather performance!! But I would like some slightly colder weather so I don't have to worry about how fast they wear out... (not that they are wearing very fast but you know what I mean)

sounds like interesting plans, I'd like to try not to be a stay-at-home and actually come to a meet for a change...
-
Paint it red, then paint a red stripe all the way along the swage line at the top of the door and along to the rear window... Then you'll stand out for certain...

We need dyno plots

Is it worth it? I'd be more interested in performance gains over price... if it doesn't make any extra power, or fill in the infamous torque dip you could give them away free and I wouldn't be interested...!
-
Yup, but then it was only you and me and I was having a rubbish driving evening... tbh, I'm not that great versus REAL people on Gran Turismo... And we don't need to buy a simulator SpecK, there is one just down the road from me in Chandler's Ford --> http://www.theracecentre.co.uk/

does the sound deadening material in the spare wheel well cut down the roar from the tyres? That is the only thing I have trouble with, the amount of road noise, although I know it is a lightweight car, it is very noticeable coming from a quieter car back to the GT86...

HUNTER HawkEye Elite TD Wheel aligner

Cool, now we'll all be able to spend even more money with you :-) -
Eventually I will "bling" my engine bay, i.e. lightweight blue anodised pulleys from Fensport, blue hoses and intake elbow and so on... so its always nice to know what the options are :-) These look good and a reasonable price, hence the questions, they're on "the list"...
-
cool, glad to hear it, now, the Samco heater hoses seem to have a bleed screw in one of them, I haven't looked on my car so I don't know if there is one on the OEM hose, but I can't see one on your ones so I'm wondering why it there on the (expensive) Samco ones? Oh and can you do an intake hose as well?? Sorry for the silly questions...
-
I wouldn't go so far as to say they are "lethal" but they are pretty soft and slippy because of the "high" temperatures at the moment... last year when it was proper cold and icy they were lovely and inspired loads of confidence in comparison to the OEM Primacy's... As others have said, I'm ready for the ice age they keep telling us is coming in the next few days / weeks / end of the month / next month / we missed it...

Are these re-branded Samco or Tuning Developments originals??
-
But you're staying stock, so you'll never go back to not having the hole... Since the car (I assume Lauren and Dave are talking about the same one ) is already modified, why go backwards on what is a relatively minor mod and end up out of pocket and with a "worse" car?!? Do you really not like the Milltek THAT much?? What is it about the exhaust that made you decide to go back to stock AND to the standard map?? I'm sure you could just have the map adjusted, there must be some gains possible... <-- this is my slightly confused face

Oops! I might do in that case, although I do still neeed to sort out using my wheel...
-
Funny you should say that, I bought a GT Force 900 degree rotation wheel (which is lovely) but it didn't come with a knee/lap fitting like the old GT Force wheel did, hence it really needs to be attached to something and as yet I've not figured out what to attach it to, so I just play with the controller even though I do have an awesome force feedback wheel... Otherwise, I don't fancy forking out for a PS4 so that puts me out ofthe running for GT6...!
-
looks good, but I'll never sell the GT86 and unfortunately the Mustang has too few doors to fit as our second car... I like the look of it, but I'll never buy one :-)
-
aha, throttle maps?? i.e. you can adjust how much pedal travel results in how much throttle opening?? Sounds like fun to me...
-
You're SUCH a tease!!
-
I think this is something to do with the instant coating of light rust that forms after washing the car, seems to clean the pads up a bit and hence reduce the squeal... (the content in this post has not been scientifically proven)

Well Done Lauren!! My brother was supposed to be getting some but apparently they sold out in 43 seconds..! So we missed out because neither of us can afford the £72 ones left... Let me know how good it was Unless you happened to get any "spare" tickets of course...

GT86/BRZ/FR-S Manifold/Headers From Tuning Developments
Sideways? replied to Mike@TD.co.uk's topic in Tuning Developments
But the HKS one is only £2k...! *re-thinks tuning plan* I'd be interested but I can't say when I would be in a position to purchase, price looks good and if (with more tweaking) you can improve the torque/power curve even further than the previous graphs on the other thread it is a very impressive development indeed!! -
## Special Offer ## GT86/BRZ/FR-S Exhaust Systems From Tuning Developments
Sideways? replied to Mike@TD.co.uk's topic in Tuning Developments
all looking very lovely so far... next up, dyno graphs and exhaust video!! Please -
Firstly mine are a higher profile and because the tread moves around a bit more the handling does feel softer and less instant, I've also found they are very sensitive to temperature and the result of using them too aggresively when the weather is too warm is high wear rates - hence why they're supposed to be used in the winter only... Lauren I would be interested to hear how you get on as a "new convert" to the winter tyre massive - it looks like it should be cold enough for long enough this winter for you to get a full picture of their performance...
