## Special Offer ## GT86/BRZ/FR-S Exhaust Systems From Tuning Developments
Sideways? replied to Mike@TD.co.uk's topic in Tuning Developments
do you have to remove some of the inlet piping resonator boxes to get this to fit? Have you got an induction kit on the car in the photos?? -
Speedy, I put it in quotes because I'm lazy and didn't bother to quote your whole post... I'm sorry if I misunderstood your intention to merely point out that you thought the standard tyres are fine in crappy conditions, rather than to tell everyone that winter tyres are a waste of time... In my experience I felt 100% more comfortable on my winter tyres than the standard ones last year - more from a point of view that I was much more certain I could avoid any incidents if I had to, rather than wanting to drive like a bat out of hell regardless of how much snow there was on the road... While I do agree that it is not always worthwhile changing to winter tyres - i.e. winter a few years ago was very mild and we barely got any frost, let alone ice and snow - if it is forecast to be very cold and there is a risk of ice and snow, I would say they are worth it for a variety of reasons - not least protecting your OEM wheels from exposure to salt corrosion!

show me the manifold!! and tell me how much it costs, pleeeeeaseeee!! -
Lauren, did you not use winter tyres last year?? I completely agree, changed my wheels over the other weekend but not driven much on them this winter. Last winter they were 100% much more excellent when travelling more than crawling pace and handled the snow with no trouble :-) I also find they are able to clear massive quantities of water as well - very good for water the hedges by the side of the road! Speedy, you can "speak from experience" that the standard tyres were fine in the snow but there are people on this forum (and across the globe no doubt) that got stuck in the snow on standard tyres while I've not heard a single person get stuck anywhere on winters... so far...

Man this is hard work keeping up with two forums... Anyway, sounds like fun but could get expensive!!

Lovely cocktail, does wonders for the digestion I imagine... :P

Sounds good to me, good luck for the rest of the weekend!! I think Toyota are preparing a rally car for 2015 season but I can't remember where I saw the information...

SpecK's comments are confirmed through the HKS website, they have a catless manifold run with a catted system against a catted manifold and catless system (i.e one cat only either way) and when the cat is in the manifold the difference is about 5bhp at the top end. The HKS systems seem to do strange things at the bottom end on their graph but it could be that the engine needs some extra pressure at the low end to help cylinder scavenging... Cat position comparison: http://www.hks-power.co.jp/en/product_db/exhaust/db/15165 System descriptions (scroll down to manifold section): http://www.hks-power.co.jp/en/product/project/hks86/exhaust/index.html I'd love an HKS system but I don't want to think how much it would all cost...

lovely, exactly what I wanted to see! This is now definitly the mod for me, just need to decide exactly whether I want to go with exactly these bits or similar stuff from different brands - and then justify the cost to the wife, which could be the hardest part... It is very interesting to see that the difference between UEL and EL manifolds is 8bhp..!
-
what did you torque the nuts back up to?? Two grunts and a groan (i.e. FT - "f'ing tight")? or just quite tight?
-
Now I open my eyes and see it doesn't look so far fetched...

Yikes, sorry Rob, I thought this was more of "this club that club" situation than a "I'm only eating bread and water cos that's all I can afford" issue... -

Really..?! I wonder why not...? -
and in answer to your question - because it has been shown to give less of an increase than Equal Length and does not solve problems with the "torque dip" which appears to be tuned out by (some) equal length manifolds... Also, why do you NEED one?
-
24 bhp increase with exhaust, mainfold & a remap sounds too good to be true for "stage 1"... Do we believe the hype?
-
Looks good to me, my car is still mostly perfect but the wife's would make Senna (is he even on this forum??) go weak at the knees - it is like swirl central...!

looks good, waiting for the manifold and system performance data though -
considering that is on dirt through the middle of a forest I don't think 70-80 is too bad, 110 on the other hand is pretty crazy...!
-
I think it is fitted with Nankang All-Terrain Tyres but I can't quite read the sidewalls in the video
-
Yes, to a certain extent, but, if you're on the brakes and swing the steering violently to avoid something and the loaded front bites hard, the unloaded rear doesn't and you spin you have no further options other than hoping the impact doesn't hurt too much...! And this is also correct, if you know what you're doing you have more of a chance to do the right thing - i.e. not making massive panic inputs to steering and brakes... However, the majority of people will do the wrong thing (unintentionally, because they either panic or actually don't know what the right thing to do is...) and end up in trouble, hence why all modern cars are set to understeer by default - you can largely drive around understeer but it requires a lot more skill to drive a car that naturally oversteers without any deliberate provocation...
-
That definitely sounds like fun to me...! And yes, the top guys are crazy fast, but 40 mph is like being on another planet...!

Yup I used to drive a 2.8 Capri so I know exactly what fun you're talking about... Or should that be "fun"... It is crazy but that's America for you...!
