Don't feel embarrassed...I probably wouldn't have noticed at first either - that's the point of forums like this

Interesting part is: The Highways Agency confirmed to MailOnline they pay £150,000 per site to install the equipment and· £25,000 per site per year to maintain the equipment. So we could save money and have more police employed to help prevent real crime by not spending stupid money on cameras...

Last couple of pics...use of Google Maps to find out where we were! (52°04'52"N 3°25'45"W) It was a bit parky up there!

Thanks for the link to the route...for those who are mobile, here's an image Speed which remained within the speed limit, of course, but there was a lot of 2nd and 3rd gear action 175 miles of fun plus the boring 160 miles to/from the area explain why I got through a tank of fuel!

Great trip around some fantastic roads today, and the scenery was amazing! Some interesting "traffic" to negotiate at certain times...some might say there was a "Welsh Harem" in the road!!! The starting point Aust. Services around 8am A pause somewhere at the end of a great road! Then another break to take in some more scenery... And some from the lunch stop - a pub with pukka chips! And then the long drive home...not a bad day - left home at 6:30am, back again around 5:30ish

See you Sunday! Not looking forward to the early start, but, I'm sure it'll be worth it!

This is why I think the car is great! We all like different things and we can get what we want out of it with very little £££ outlay!

I have Abbey's Stage 1 on my car and with the 18s and decent rubber, there was a massive improvement in turn in and confidence through the bends (especially on the B & unmarked roads I like to play on) Back on my winters now and I'm sliding a lot, but maybe something to do with the amount of abuse the decent rubber could handle in combination with this setup (and decent alignment courtesy of Abbey).

Current M4 is 3 litre turbo. Old E90/E92 M3s were the 4.0 V8s... the bimmer has more torque and power from a smaller lump... However, after sales care at BMW is shite in my experience (of owning an E90 M3) The rear is missing a spoiler of some sort, nothing too ostentatious, but it needs something to finish the boot line On another note, Mustang = Pony Car in the US - and we all know what "pony" is rhyming slang for... FI with the GT is the way to go IMO or go with the Chevy Camaro... 6.2 V8 because more is better...and I bet the volume even goes to 11!!!

Possibly/Maybe/Hopefully Got the winter rubber on, so no weather problems for me

As possible is the key here...I think you'd have to be Frodo's height to sit with the seat upright and a helmet on!

Introducing Rigid Collars - club offer
Quixote replied to Burn! Motorsport's topic in Burn! Motorsport
During the patent application process (typically 18 months from the priority date for my patent applications) the patent application is published in order for others to make counter claims and potentially fight for dismissal. Therefore, if it is patent protected, the manufacturer should list the patent or application number(s) associated to protect themselves - this should apply to materials as well as "concept". Patent applications also take many years from concept to grant, so if the manufacturer only recently launched this product, I'd expect it still to be "patent pending" although the material used may well have a grant. So, in short, "patent protected" is not the same as "not public/published" - in fact if it's patent protected, it will be public domain information. -
Thanks Adrian, great post. The only thing missing is, what's the pressure drop across the cooler? (I know we don't have this for the other chargers or the turbos either, but it does tell you how much harder the charger has to work to get the same pressure) Looks like it cools very well, but if it loses you too much boost then it's not so clever

Suspicious about the numbers...I don't doubt the engineering, but the numbers look like they've been afflicted by the marketing spin disease...No engineer would ever mix imperial and metric! Sprintex vs Eaton is going to be dependent on what you're after...looking at Mark's dyno graphs gives you a really good picture of boost pickup comparing turbo, sprintex and hks v2...just gotta wait for the Cosworth to be added I have to admit, Adrian saying that "All Cosworth parts will now be available separately" is a big plus - that was one area that I felt was a shame (having already paid for an exhaust and remap).
-
I'm suspicious of anyone that mixes metric and imperial on a graph - why have BHP and Nm, why not lbft for torque? When you first see £4k, it looks ok, but then I think the sprintex or hks would be as good value if you've already got an exhaust and an ECUTek license

Modified insurance (Sprintex etc) - very pleased !

Don't hit someone else? To be honest, I'd pay the extra £250 to ensure I was happy with the work... -

I used Sky last year because of the forum and they were very helpful, UK-based and also very amenable to mods - but I declared everything...two sets of wheels, exhaust, remap, audio, gauge etc etc. At the time I was also quoted an extra £100 for s/c or t/c, as I was thinking of boosting sooner, but then I spent the money on a tank as the family car. -
Public Service Announcement - Winter Tyres

Nexian? I think you meant Nokian I've got hankooks and they're fine. They were definitely a lot better than the OEM tyres for clearing standing water too. Not cold enough to warrant switching yet... -
Dynapack Comparison_SC's versus Turbo
Quixote replied to Mark@Abbey M/S's topic in Abbey Motorsports
Sprintex looks good til 4500, then HKS overtakes It does show the lumpiness of turbo boost though....nothing until bam it's all there Makes me wonder what the Sprintex would look like with some nice headers (maybe like the Cossie ceramic coated ones) and a HFC in the 2nd cat position -
Put it this way, after watching Steve, I won't be asking him for any directions Great day...and a fantastic way to explore the capabilities of both car & driver... Got to 131mph on the bowl and the car was very stable, so Mark's guys at Abbey did a good job on the suspension. Highlight for me was the hill route in the afternoon, with Colin's calm encouragement I was going much faster than I would have had the confidence to at the beginning of the day - objective of the day well met!

Water Methanol Injection discussion

Nice to see the positive results , interesting to hear that you get more boost too - definitely a nice side effect I like the idea of switchable maps especially if you wanted a water map for road use and a meth map for track PS I love your artwork Steve -
Stage 1 Suspension - Monday was a day well spent :)
Quixote replied to Quixote's topic in Abbey Motorsports
I know what I want to do, but, bought my wife a rather expensive car (more of a tank really), so it has put a few investment items on hold... I forgot to mention, while my car was up in the air at Abbey we checked the Milltek and discovered a nice crack developing in the same place as everyone else. Emailed Litchfield with a photo and got a response same day (they've already replaced a few under warranty), now I just need to book it in to get it swapped... FI will be next year and discussion with Mark (reinforced with his catalogue of dyno charts) convinced me of where I'd like to go... -
I finally decided to have some minor tweaks done to maximise the benefit of my 18s and stickier tyres I don't want to change the ride height, and through discussion with Mark agreed on the following upgrades to complement what I have and my main focus of driving (90% B-road blasts): Whiteline 16mm Rear Anti Roll Bar Rear Camber Arms Super Pro Front lower arm bushes Plus, of course, alignment I was a bit limited as I wanted everything to be done in one day, while I waited. Scott, Mark and the guys made me feel really welcome and looked after me really well. I can honestly say that Abbey customer service is really top notch following a minor hiccup on the day. I spent too much of Mark's time looking at dyno chart comparisons between various setups and again talking about what would make the most sense for what I want out of the car (rather than just chasing HP figures)...now I know what next year's bonus will go towards. Scott took some photos that I'm sure the guys will attach at some point Following the work, I have noticed I now need to drop my tyre pressures as I definitely had them too high, but the turn-in is much improved. Looking forward to the training session at Millbrook on the 20th September now! Your Alignment Results.pdf

Stage 1 Suspension - Monday was a day well spent :)
Quixote replied to Quixote's topic in Abbey Motorsports
Updated the first post, not sure who makes the camber arms After driving the car for a bit and having lowered my tyre pressures more, the amount of grip is astonishing Really looking forward to Millbrook and some expert feedback
