How often do Turbo'd cars come up for sale? Reliable?
infernouk posted a topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Hey guys, I was a member here a couple of years back when I had a black Aero 86, i sold the car when i moved to london. Im now in a situation where im moving out of london and need a car, so im looking at the 86 again. This time round, I dont want an Aero and I do want a turbo, so im wondering, how often to standard model turbo cars come up and what sort of price? I also wondered if anyone can speak to the long term reliability of them now that its been a good few years, i sold before the recall stuff kicked off, how does that work with cars that are turbo? Cheers for any insight! -

Cheers yeah I’m specifically looking for a black car too, I’m thinking I may just buy a 11k used car and spend the 4K turbo charging it -
Sold my car and the exhaust has been taken off so needs to go! Cobra non-res catback, great condition no issues, simply unbolt the stock one and attach, noise is nice and not too aggressive / offensive, can be quiet when it needs to be and doesnt drone £300 (SOLD) Pic of both on the car:

thanks mate, yeah its an awesome exhaust, best ive heard! and i got jumped by like 10 people for the lights but they had to go to the first person to offer listed price
-
Lights gone, exhaust still available

not sure age matters if the lights are just a bit of plastic? exhaust has done 1k miles on my car but was second hand so no idea beyond that but has no issues

[SOLD] GT86 Aero 2016 - Black - 11k - Nav
infernouk replied to infernouk's topic in For Sale GT86 / BRZ Cars
SOLD - sold without mods so taking offers on the valentis, gear stick and cobra non res exhaust now, will post for sale thread in a bit -
Selling my black 2016 Aero 86, I have a good dealer price in place so just seeing if any club users would be interested first Located in Hertfordshire 11,500 Milage, FSH Currently has smoked valenti lights and a cobra exhaust, can remove these and put to stock if desired, please dont message me about buying these mods separately at this time. There are a few scrapes from its two years of use, cheap to fix and reflected in price, no marks on the alloys Looking at £17,500 or £17k with mods reverted to stock, more pics available on request

Appraisal Help (Black 16 Aero 10k miles)
infernouk replied to infernouk's topic in For Sale GT86 / BRZ Cars
Cheers guys, main plan was to remove the exhaust and lights but leave the speakers as not worth the aggro And yeah the aero's seem to command quite a bit more than the standard model on the used market, hence the high WBAC price Was considering aiming at 17k excluding mods and seeing if a dealer would take it, as you mentioned, not many used buyers have that kind of budget -
Hey guys So as i moved to london and this car literally doesnt move anymore (kept at my parents house) im looking into selling it on to someone who will enjoy it Issue is prices seem all over the place especially difficult to price Aero models... So i wanted to see if others find what im finding, this being We buy any car offering 17k, auto trader showing between 16k and 20k depending on all the standard variables. Im on a PCP and toyota want 16.1k to end agreement, so i was hoping to clear that at the very least. So the car is a Black Aero with Nav, 11k miles now (1k in the past year), 2 owners (first owner was toyota themselves, then me) I have added a cobra non res exhaust that I can remove if it has negative effect on value, as well as dark tint valenti lights. Additionally it has the rear badges removed and a focal speaker upgrade. Minor marks and scratches on the car due to unlucky ownership incidents (carpark marks) i went to a body shop and they quoted me £400 to fix it all up as good as new, the interior has a couple of marks on the hard plastic and glovebox door that may effect value Heres a couple of pics off the laptop, dont have any of the interior im afraid:

Cheers perhaps I’ll try that route I just have time on my side so don’t need to accept less than the best deal, the cars not in negative equity as I paid a large deposit and it was a used car when I got it from Toyota, but I don’t have the cash to settle it outright so will have to get the buyer to settle

hey guys, i am moving to central london in a week and have no need for a car anymore and so am considering selling the 86! I have no real idea of values of these cars at the moment and mine is an Aero model so again a little difficult to pick a price to offer it up at. The car has done 11k, its a 16 plate, just been serviced last week. Black Aero. It also has valenti rear lights and a cobra exhaust but im happy to put them to stock if it helps the price being standard? Cheers for some guidance here as its a weird situation selling not to be buying again and not having dealt with selling a newish car before! Car has finance but its less than the cars value (i should assume!) as i bought it used with toyota being the first owner. Only issue worth noting is it has a few scrapes and chips and dents as i bought it not in the best condition and have been unlucky with carparks over the past few months, nothing noticable from distance, all small bits Any advice? Cheers

Yeah I assumed that was the case, concerning the seller couldn’t work this one ! Cheers

Hey guys I’m ordering some new pads for my car, the seller is asking me if it’s the 16 or 17” wheels model, as it’s an aero it’s 18”, this has confused them. Am I safe to assume the aero uses the same pads as the standard 17” model? As I didn’t read anywhere that the brakes were changed... cheers for any confirmation here

I recon I’m going to get the damage fixed up professionally, 17k seems a low for aero prices of similar miles and age (assuming I fix the damage)

i think buying a car thats on finance is standard these days for newer privates, from the research ive done through PH so im not bothered by that. Time isnt something im worried about as this isnt a burden its just something i dont need, so its more the most logical choice im looking for. If repairs + private sale will make more than selling to a dealer, thats the route ill take regardless of time. To prompt the question in the OP, is there a way i can calculate a value here? i see aeros on auto trader but they all sit around 20k which seems too high?
-
Yeah i may get a quote i just know its going to be painful, and yeah i thought the aero would be a marmite car to sell so not sure what kind of ride ill be in for. Im actually moving north london to kentish town, cant argue with london salaries!
-
i assume a dealer would be trying to buy the car for vastly under its private sale value? im not in a hurry here so im willing to take my time to get a good deal. I was hoping for private sale but i dont want to invest the funds in fixing the cosmetics pre sale to be honest as ive just spent loads on sorting out rental! I would have just minused it from the value. I assume any margin the dealers try to make off me selling it to them will be a lot more than the cost to repair any scuffs anyway
