Some help and advice please, winter tyres/alloys
Mya X Ferron replied to Nelix's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Not where I live (Midlands). They're already terribly squirrelly in 10 degree weather with too much wheel spin for my liking (the addition of rain makes it even worse), at least that has been my experience. If it's cold all year then yes but you'll want something else in summer otherwise. -
Some help and advice please, winter tyres/alloys

Luckily we've got our winters on some powder coated oem wheels. Work well and relatively inexpensive (baring in mind we actually plan to use them every year to drive down to Austria & they were great this winter). Don't see the point in dropping huge amounts on winter wheels because they'll look ugly caked in salt 99% of the time anyway. Also; as for tyres, the Nokian WR A3 have been great on freezing and snowed roads - both normal and spirited driving. I believe they've been replaced with WR A4, though they ought to be quite similar. -
Made the drive up to RRG Macclesfield this morning for an intermittent service. Ric & Andy were brill! Definitely recommend taking the time to drive up there (about 56 miles for me). Thanks again guys!

Welcome it'll scare you in the rain for a little while but it just gets more and more fun every time you drive it ^^

CHRIS KNOTT INSURANCE :: 0800 917 2274
Mya X Ferron replied to ChrisKnottIns's topic in Insurance Companies
@ChrisKnottIns our insurance is due in March, thinking of getting rid of Admiral and will be calling around club recommended insurers any minute now... A dash cam competition would be nice for sure -
Great, can't wait for this year, Silverstone was much better than Donington (and that bloody Vibe thing) would love to be on stand for that this year

GT86 BRZ Tuning Package from Tuning Developments
Mya X Ferron replied to Mike@TD.co.uk's topic in Tuning Developments
Same booked in for 4th of Feb (unless something catastrophic happens). Honestly the most excited I've been about something in a while, reviews are amazing and that only fills me with even more confidence (not to mention that @Mike@TD.co.uk is a stand up guy, definitely worth the trip from Wolverhampton- 231 replies

Thanks for this, will definitely have a word with them about the TSB when I'm back in the UK. Along with the rust issue on a section of the window (can't remember the name right now thanks Christmas drinks haha).

So last time we road tripped to Austria we managed to push Kuro hard enough to trigger an EML. The torque app let us know it was coil A... This time around, you guessed it, coil B... This is all good and well (since it's a known issue and we still have a couple of months warranty left so it'll be sorted January, hopefully). My question is, is there some kind of after market solution to the issue of coil packs? Sooner or later this is going to happen again and when it does, wouldn't mind dropping some cash on a better solution. Thanks in advance!
-
Yea, expected it not to be that's why we're looking at it as more of a long term investment since we can't rely on warranty for much longer :/ Yep, it's 2013. Haven't heard about any changes to the coil pack (but that's because I haven't looked, lol). Will have to have a look at that and garner some more info before I go making demands at Toyota

It's honestly not a bother at all. Only have slight issues with emerging from junctions if the angle is tight but motorway driving etc. is a breeze. Another pic just because we only just got on board... Super long delays at Folkestone.

Waiting around at Folkestone on the way to Austria

Had this as well yesterday, manual jobby for sure. Although, it seems as though the reset instructions in the manual don't work unless it decides it's warm enough (I think?) as it didn't work the 1st couple of times I tried but reset after letting the car warm up for a few mins.

Popping to the shops today - Expectation vs Reality
Mya X Ferron replied to TommyC's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
First winter with the car and what a winter it's turned out to be eh? Honestly, since putting Nokian WR A3s on I've had troubles losing traction (unless I want to), double with the snow. Winter tyres really are the way to go if you want to drive this car in this kind of weather. Been perfectly fine with them on, not got stuck once in the 3 days we've had heavy snow! -
Hehe even more snow today so there's another one 😁
-
Sadly not as we have snow tyres on 😂 although there's some more snow forecast for tomorrow so we might have to intentionally try and get it sideways 😂
-
Just had one made up by a local exhaust shop in Birmingham. It's only 2.5" though so probably not going to stay on there for more than a couple of years (if we go FI).

Hello lovely people! Since meeting some of you at Donnington, Kuro is no longer completely stock (yay!) - we've been slowly but surely making plans for changing things up performance wise. Looking to change to a UEL header in the new year (sound preference really as fickle as it may seem) in preparation for a tune and have already changed to a resonated catback in anticipation of this (and will be doing the overpipe and front pipe also). My question is; what have people's experiences been like with a decat header and/or high flow 2nd cat when it comes to emissions and MOT type stuff? This is our first modded car so we're pretty fresh and don't want to screw ourselves over 😂 any advice will be sincerely welcomed. Thanks a lot in advance and apologies for being dense!
-
Already got a resonated cat back, not to worry. Had it since summer 😁
-
True. We do actually have Nokian WR A3 tyres fitted also. Probably unlikely that we will even need the socks because Europe is pretty efficient at clearing the white stuff 😂 but better to be safe than sorry.

Other half is born and bread Austrian 😂 he thinks socks are fine, besides AFAIK the socks are certified by some board or another. Only regulation is on winter tyres anyway, neither socks or chains are mandatory.
