It's very likely that water ingress went down the co-ax cable, causing a short for both the signal and the amplifier voltage. You would have to carefully dismantle the aerial assembly and dry it all with a hairdryer or similar.

Sorry you've got no replies so far. If you want to make the trek down to Basingstoke I'd be happy to oblige. I have a Harrop supercharger installed.
-
I have those rubber mats, too. They're nice and pick out the red stitching in mine.
-
Congratulations, Neil, for doing it yourself. I can understand the pride in doing that (I will happily modify my hi-fi equipment but not so much the car). You're right about the Harrop putting a smile on your face in 3rd, or pretty much any gear. It's a constant pleaser.

My average mileage was 35mpg NA, with the Harrop it's 30mpg.- 29 replies

Check that no water got into the connector or wiring. I know the facelift models have powered aerials, they might all have? In which case, power to the aerial may have been lost, like a blown fuse. That's usually behind the head unit.

Gosh, that was fast, Simon! I'll be coming.

Lots of Toyotas (and one Subaru)... Six gingers! Thanks again for organising it, Simon. You even brought good weather!

I had Eibach Pro-Kits on my previous Hond CR-Z and have H&R Super Sports on the BRZ. Both are good springs with a good ride quality. The stock shocks will not foul anything, they will just be a little shorter, when static, with the lowering.

Excellent rebuild. A unique BRZ (and they're rare enough to start with).

The engine is 12.5:1 compression ratio and is very sensitive to knock. This is known. Putting ordinary fuel in a nice car and relying on the knock sensor is short-sighted and the car deserves better. Of course you can feel the difference!- 29 replies

Thanks, I may take you up on that, especially if we get together in one of the meets.
-
That's a severe engine test - 50 hours WOT from max torque to max power and back again. Real-world driving will never reach those levels. Mark told me he monitors cylinder pressure and maps with the O2 sensor on the rear banks, which are more prone to knock. I'm also careful never to labour the engine at low revs.
-
I think it's safe to say that there will be no more power increase, smaller pulleys etc. It's my daily driver and has to remain reliable. I'm going to really enjoy it as it is.

The bhp calculation has gone up from 300 to 315bhp at the flywheel.

The feeling was that the Rogue is very close to the Ace in design. I'm not sure the Ace would be worth the extra. Sent from my LG-G7 using Tapatalk

I don't think it was that kind of mechanical noise - there was no resonance peak, just that off-beat of exhaust pulsing. The supercharger definitely made it louder (that's the difference between turbos and superchargers, a turbo would make it quieter). It was fine before, but reached a point where I was uncomfortable going through our village late at night. I mentioned to Mark that you might be interested in a Rogue. He said to call him if you're interested so that he can get one in time for your booking with them.
-
Power is a few bhp more, not worth worrying over. I asked Mark for torque, I couldn't care less about power as I don't run around at max revs on the road.
-
No problem, Simon. Mark already found a buyer so the price was discounted accordingly [emoji4]
-
As I said "the noise is noticeably smoother and lower in level". It could just be the lack of the UEL beat, but it's definitely less raucous both inside and outside the cabin.
-
Mark at Abbey Motorsport has done a superb job. He has found torque across the rev range, with 284nm max but a very good relatively flat curve and smoother, too. On the road, the car feels livelier, more willing again to rev than before and has a lot of go even in 6th on the motorway. The noise is noticeably smoother and lower in level. There is also nowhere near the heat in the engine bay after a spirited drive. All in all, a very good day. The colour coding is a bit weird: green/yellow lines are for the Rogue, red line is for the TD manifold. Yellow flash is the new torque.

Isn't the need for BBKs a little over-stated for our cars? I don't track mine and, despite the supercharger, I find my stock brakes very adequate to the task. Perhaps only different pads are required in most cases?

That's coming together nicely. Black gloss door mirrors will match it well.

Shell V-Power whenever I can. I do have a Sainsburys closer with super-unleaded and will use it at a push. The car doesn't feel quite as responsive on it, but it's a small thing (mine is supercharged and tuned for Shell). No denying that the Sainsburys fuel is a lot cheaper, though.- 29 replies

No track work. I never measured the temperatures but I had two incidents on very hot days when I could smell burning and had to pull over. With heat expansion, the exhaust had been rubbing against the top hose and burning the heat wrap and the hose itself. I've already replaced the hose once and my second one is showing small signs of heat damage. You're right about the dipstick tube, that has been rubbing and worn away the heat wrap, too.
