I will post when complete. Mark isn't going to relax the safeties much, though, as it's a stock engine. I've asked him to give me all the midrange torque he dares but he is a conservative tuner and I have to respect that what he finds will be the limit for engine longevity.

I'm at Abbey now. It looks nice in its box, so last photo before it goes in.

The +35 offset will give you more clearance, not less. Sent from my LG-G7 using Tapatalk

I've just checked with Abbey Motorsport that they are go for tomorrow's Rogue EL manifold install and tune. They had a scare with their dyno yesterday and it looked at one point that I might have to cancel. I hope I won't miss the UEL Subie rumble too much, but the EL should give me great performance. It looks the part, too. Most importantly, no heat up into the engine bay.

Just turn up, we all try to park together. Then general chat and a look at each other's cars. At some point we'll go and get breakfast although this time I don't think there will be sit-down allowed so it might be a bacon roll and coffee take-away! You're welcome to have a nosey, I should have the Rogue Motorsport EL manifold installed by then, too.

It certainly makes a statement!

Ah sorry, I was looking at that chart on my phone. Yes, 50 would be poor and might even encroach on the suspension. Why not go for 17 x 8 size which would give you a lot more choice and allows 225 tyres which also give you more choice.

Of those listed, 35 would give you the least offset (most poke) for good fitment. Sent from my LG-G7 using Tapatalk

Looking forward to seeing it at Denbies, Sam. I'm not parking mine next to yours!

It's just a small thing, but I like my wheels finished with the proper manufacturer's logo. I found these very good quality roundels from an eBay vendor in Portugal. They are 55mm and fit the XXR centre caps perfectly.

Coming!

Yes, I'll come. And we get to see the Bunny...

On the other hand, AliExpress is the only place to buy Chinese enthusiast designs like this master crystal oscillator, the second one I have on order (the first one arrived within 10 days): https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000151765428.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.748a4c4dLAAJBi

Yes, I use them a lot for electronics and components. They are reliable and deliver relatively fast (usually within two weeks). Tax and handling charges are pot luck.

Subaru Bulldog Twyford are good, too, and also in the general area.
-
Do you mean a BRZ? Why would you put that big hunk of an engine into a small sports car, wreck its CofG and ruin the front/rear weight balance? I had a 540i with the 4.4l V8 and that was a monster enough.

I don't think the Supra is any kind of replacement for the 86, it's a different beast altogether.

You're overlooking the sheer satisfaction of using a manual gearbox and clutch well, something that takes years to master (and I'm still learning). Sent from my LG-G7 using Tapatalk

I had to imagine those wheels on my car in my mind's eye. I had the idea they would look good and I'm very fussy about wheels being sympathetic to the car and its colour. I also didn't want to 'overcook' the grip by going to the next wider tyre, but I needn't have worried, the supercharger can still easily make them squirm on hard corners. Finally, I didn't want the ride quality to deteriorate, and luckily it's fine with just a touch more firmness. I've settled on 2.3 bar pressure.

A couple of people have asked me about fitment. Going from 225/45 on 17" to 235/40 on 18", both ET35, has increased overall diameter from 634mm to 645mm. The tyre fills the wheel well by 5mm more. Testing it against GPS yesterday shows that my speedo is now almost spot-on, over-reading by 1mph at 70. Gearing is very slightly longer, but it felt just the same as before. Poke is 5mm more and so is inner distance to suspension, so it's safe. Although the fronts look to be barely clearing the arches, there is no scrub on full lock. Scrub radius remains the same, so the alignment that Abbey Motorsport did for me remains good.

And I thought mine is low! How are you going to avoid collecting all the local flora and fauna?
-
Standard clutch, which has been fine so far.
-
They're an odd size, 18 x 8.75 ET35. Fitment is perfect and there is no rubbing. I wouldn't want any wider than 235 rubber so they've worked out nicely.
-
Now on XXR 527 18" wheels with 235/40 rubber. Really suits the car, I think. I still have to swap over the TPMS sensors (again) and get some Subaru centre-caps (can't be having the 86 ones!)
