Goodness me, that does look purposeful even in monochrome.

Thanks. The wheels would go well on my white BRZ but you're 300 miles away from me. I'll have a think about it.
-
Are the wheels ZZR (can't find out anything about them) or XXR? What is their width and offset please?

I don't like right-hand stalks!

Deep Purple with mica?

The question that must be asked is... why?
-
When I'm cruising at 80 on the motorway, the MAP reads 80 or so, so the Harrop is not in boost.
-
Yes, it's certainly been better since the tweaks. That 'dead zone' is gone.

Latest US spec GT86 head unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
MartinT replied to ttjt16's topic in ICE/Electrical
The facelift is double-DIN standard, but the bezel for the radio, at least on the BRZ, is a weird trapezoid shape. You may need to rework it as I did for different head units. -
I've done that repeatedly, but the hose always seems to want to settle back to its natural shape so that trick doesn't last long before it's nearly touching the exhaust again.
-
Yes, that sounds the same. Did you have it done at Abbey? Ask Mark to do the same fuelling tweak as he did for mine.
-
Hey Neil, it was very hard to control at low speeds around and just above idle. It would jerk around a lot, kangaroo and be difficult to control smoothly. After Mark adjusted the fuelling a little, everything was fine and much easier to drive smoothly.

It feels exactly like a bigger engine. Despite the 225 tyres on 8" wheels, it puts the power down and holds on very well. Power delivery is like a train building up to full power, not the sudden jerk of a turbo catching you out in tricky conditions. It's smooth and goes to the red line very willingly. Keep it in a low gear and the torque is just as thrilling as with a turbo. As for emissions, it passed the MOT on a single cat so I'm not sure why manufacturers have moved away from superchargers.
-
I agree that the Subie engine reputation is entirely down to idiots having them highly tuned and then caning them. There are equally stories of the stock FA20 holding on to fairly high power numbers. Mine has been faultless at 300bhp so far, and I don't cane it. If they could get the new one performing at something like the TD NA kit then I think a lot of owners would be happy. The problem is always emissions.

I can't imagine Subaru manufacturing it with a BMW engine. Would Toyota build it? To be honest, I'd rather they keep the flat four, it better differentiates the car and there is a lot of aftermarket support for it now.
-
I'm going with the Rogue EL as-is because the problem is specifically the heat brought into the engine bay and the proximity to the top hose in my car. I don't track or race it so I don't think I need to take any further precautions.

I've just spoken to Mark at Abbey and it looks like an installation date in July is on the cards. Excellent!
-
@Deacon thanks for your comments, they really helped me make up my mind. The extra to stretch to the Ace doesn't seem worth it, the Rogue looks like a great design.
-
I've spoken to Rogue and Abbey and the outcome is that Abbey are ordering me an EL manifold with overpipe for fitting on a future date. Although I love the UEL sound, Rogue convinced me that the EL has better flow characteristics. I may as well go for the best I can and it needs a remap anyway. Sent from my LG-G7 using Tapatalk

@Deacon are you still happy with your Rogue EL manifold? Pricing and availability seem stable now, I'm just wondering if you've had any problems with it?

I think I can make that? Sent from my LG-G7 using Tapatalk -
Thanks. Yes, I would rather stay with UEL. I'll have a look at acquiring a Rogue, then.
-
Thanks, I've asked Abbey what they supply (think they do Ace) and I would have them fit and remap it as I had the Harrop installed by them.
