    Aren't they full coilovers?

    MartinT's BRZ

Question for everyone: I have H&R Super Sport lowering springs which give a great ride height and maintain a pretty comfortable ride quality. My BRZ is my daily driver so this is important to me. What I am noticing, though, is that with the stock dampers I am getting a little over one rebound when going over rough roads. In other words, I think I am a touch under-damped. I believe this is somewhat typical with lowering springs when retaining the stock dampers. What dampers should I be looking at in view of the reduced travel, in order to give me some more damping but not an iron-hard ride?

    200mm Android Head Unit?

Eonon do a good looking 10" Android unit, I have the 7" installed and it's been brilliant so far. Oops, sorry, 200mm is 8". Not sure they do such a size as the 7" just fits. Sent from my LG-Q6 using Tapatalk
  4. ScanGauge II via OBD is an excellent way of monitoring engine vitals. See mine mounted below the radio.

...it works a treat. My phone now charges from the car's USB socket. The final part of the plan is to get the Eonon Android dongle, which seems to be the only way to get USB internet tethering to work. That way I can dispense with using the wi-fi hotspot method of connection.

I've just received this, the proper USB retention cable with the unusual Subaru plug. I had to send the GT86 one back as it doesn't fit. Will install it tonight. InCarTech 24-263 for Subaru 2014 onwards.

    DAB Aerial options

I can confirm that the shark fin is amplified as I discovered when installing a new head unit. Remove the fuse that powers the amp and the signal goes to shit. It's a nice quality signal that the fin/amp delivers.

I've now got the steering wheel controls working. Pin 1 of the steering wheel kit goes to Steering Whl 1 on the Eonon adapter cable and pin 2 goes to Steering Whl Gnd. Then fire it all up and use the Wheelkey Study app to programme the buttons. Nice! I'm still struggling with resizing the bezel opening but here's another photo of it all running well.

    Tyre sizes for FI

Turbo is not the only type of FI. I'm running 8" wheels with 225/45 17 Michelin PS4 on my supercharged BRZ. The balance between grip and agility is pretty much perfect.

    Buy now or wait?

It's easier to fit a reversing camera than worry about finding a car with sensors.

    Almost an owner! North Yorks

Nice catch, Matt. With the TD NA pack you're already getting the biggest benefit from stock in one hit. You should enjoy it.

I have the InCarTech 29-709 loom and I think I've fathomed the steering wheel patch with the brown wire to go to the flying cable. If anyone else has done this, please would you confirm it's pin 1 of the SWC intelligent module output? I've also ordered a couple of dremel bits so that I can widen the bezel by a couple of mm left/right so that it will fit over the Eonon.

@Deacon did you find patching in the steering wheel controls a bit tricky to work out?

I've just tried Bluetooth tethering and sadly it doesn't work. The Eonon needs a wi-fi hotspot.

On my LG Android 8.1 phone I've left Wi-Fi hotspot enabled with the timeout set to Off. It's not 100% reliable, though, so I'm going to try Bluetooth tethering to see if the Eonon can work that way.

The Eonon comes with Torque preinstalled. Yes, it needs a wifi hotspot but I've left my phone in auto tether mode and that seems to turn it on when needed. Bluetooth is used for the phone functions. Sent from my LG-Q6 using Tapatalk

Functionally, I am impressed with the Eonon which is responsive and runs the Android apps I've tried without any problems. The 7" and 10" should behave identically.

The head unit is in, but even with the correct wiring adapter, it's not an altogether straightforward operation. I am left with the following issues: - The USB retention cable for Toyota doesn't fit the Subaru 2017+ connector. I need to investigate this some more - The steering wheel controls don't yet work until I can fathom the somewhat obscure instructions on patching the smart unit - the trapezoidal bezel supplied in the fitting kit has an opening just too narrow to accommodate the Eonon unit - I'll attempt to file it wider The most important thing is that sound quality is greatly improved and I now have Radio Paradise, Waze and bluetooth phone & contact directory all working fine.

Cut the deal you want and cost in a good set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4 or other good tyres, then you'll love the handling. Has it had all recalls done?

The BRZ Starlink head unit is a piece of crap, Simon. I have an Eonon Android 9 head unit ready to go in next. Different fitting kit as the Subaru dash bezel is differently shaped. Sent from my LG-Q6 using Tapatalk

Stage 1 of the audio system is now done: I fitted the Focal speaker replacement kit IS165TOY. I've followed many people here so I'll just say that you really must have a plastic pry tool to pull the door panels off. I also put a piece of 300 x 200mm approximately acoustic foam behind each door speaker, behind the window rails so that they won't interfere with the opening windows. The tweeters were relatively easy to do, but again that pry tool is essential if you don't want to damage the plastic interface. I also suffered the faulted windows after reassembly but that's easy to fix: press and hold both buttons in the down position for 15s, then pull and hold both up for another 15s. This resets the stored position memory and stops the window button lights from flashing. The sound is way better than before, it actually communicates the music rather than the tinny pathetic noises it made before. Highly recommended speaker kit.

    Oil cooler needed?

I have the facelift BRZ with oil temp gauge, but the scale is maddening in spanning 90 to 130 without axis marks. Thinking about it again, mine sits around 100-105 after a long run. My ECUTeK tune will reduce the rev limiter if the oil hits 130.
