I reckon you've chosen a better-looking spoiler than most I've seen. I made a mistake looking at the price, though!
-
Ah ok, thanks @will300 I've never seen it touch 100 and i don't track the car. I now use 5W/30 Millers oil for the supercharger on Abbey Motorsports' recommendation.
-
You've got me concerned about getting an oil cooler for my supercharger now. When hammering it (rarely), I've seen the oil temp rise to around 90 or so. I've not used the car with 'charger in the summer months yet. What temps am I likely to see then? What is the safe high oil temp limit?

With no silencer, deleting the mid-pipe resonator would make it unbearably loud, in my opinion.

I was very happy to help, @Willson777 It was obvious as soon as I took that ride in your car that it was the same kind of sound appearing under load when the engine is twisting slightly on its mounts. I have had this twice, the first time it was a small crack that Bulldog Subaru Twyford sent down the road for a repair. The second time was more recently at Abbey Motorsport and Scott and @Mark@Abbey M/S diagnosed it pretty quickly and welded the crack closed in my TD super-resonator. I am slightly concerned that it might happen again and wonder if any other members have had this happen?

That bent bracket issue has happened to me too. Very annoying but also a very simple fix when you know about it.

I was looking at the Subaru STI rear spats to match the front lip but the cost is simply extortionate before even paying for shipping. A local search revealed only very cheap looking Chinese copies. Then I found these HT Autos 'rear lips' which I would never have thought of searching for. Seem perfect so I've ordered a set.

Thanks for your help on the Eonon head unit. I've just ordered a 7" model with the Subaru fitting kit (different from the Toyota one). Should be fun to install!

That's a better outcome than it could have been. Glad you're back on the road again.

Test drove GT86 - not inspired, what have I missed?
MartinT replied to ApexGT's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
I have a 30 mile commute each way every day. When I want some fun I use the A30, although it doesn't have many good curves, and other times I use the M3. I'd still rather do it in the BRZ than my old BMW 335d M-Sport Coupe despite the latter being less noisy. -
Mine's a 2017 and I think there are one or two 2018s around.
-
Ouch! Yes, I can see how the lack of an electric car will have adversely affected Subaru whereas Toyota have hybrids and electrics. Ah well, my BRZ will remain rare which is ok by me!

If you test drove it around town, I can understand your being underwhelmed. You can't assess handling that way and the lack of torque in the stock car would become apparent. Drive it on open country roads and the handling and performance become what the car was designed for. Go back to a hatch-box afterwards and its typical front-wheel drive understeery nature will start to annoy. -
I had to renew my insurance yesterday and went through it all with Adrian Flux. With all mods declared (supercharger, wheels, exhaust), fully comp, legal cover, personal accident, FlexDrive, replacement vehicle, 16k miles annually, it has come down from £678 to £538 with Aviva. I'm happy enough with that.

Yes, hope you get it sorted, Ian.

Someone before me took the last one!

Wow, good turnout today, including a Supra and 370Z. Will post photos later. Sent from my LG-Q6 using Tapatalk

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 are very good and remarkable in the wet.

STI Front Lip Installation If anyone else buys the 2017+ STI Front Lip (Under Spoiler part no. E2410CA010), you should note that the instructions provided are for the pre-facelift model. In the main, the procedure is the same, but template A has no bumper curve to follow and template F doesn't go where the diagram suggests. Use a marker pen to clearly mark the two 'pre-arranged marks' in the bumper that look like crosshairs and offer up the lip so that you can mark the correct positioning of holes A and F on both sides. Otherwise you will be drilling in the wrong place. I also strongly advise using a pistol-grip electric screwdriver with hex shaft drill bits as the slower speed offers more control and it doesn't take much effort to go through the plastic. Even when on axle stands, there isn't really room to drill upwards using a full size electric drill. I couldn't use a 9mm drill bit for the final opening up of the holes so I did them by hand using a hand reamer. After the holes have been done and plastic rivnuts inserted, use the two big clips in the 'pre-arranged mark' holes to hold the lip in place, then screw in the end flanges, making sure that the fit around the corner is good. Then you can screw in the bolts into each rivnut. There is a small amount of give if your holes aren't exactly in line. The final result is very pleasing and looks better than some of the cheap clone offerings I've seen on eBay.

Are you ok for Sunday @VAD17 ? I saw the post about your brakes.
-
Unpacked and ready for tomorrow. @Indy certainly packed it well.

I'm hoping to get the lip/splitter done tomorrow. Was looking for a cheap trolley jack and found a low profile 2 tonne one in the Halfords sale, so that's just gone in the boot. Already have axle stands. Just don't rain! Sent from my LG-Q6 using Tapatalk

When I was looking for a white BRZ there were only two to view in the whole country. Plymouth was closer (but not very close at all). I don't think I've ever seen one on the road, and GT86s are not that frequent a sighting, either.
