The only BRZ model on sale is the SE Lux like mine. That comes with the facelift spoiler as standard.
-
I thought all 2017+ models come with a factory spoiler? Certainly the BRZ does. Is there still a base model GT86 without a spoiler?
-
Gosh, that description really gives a feel for the complexity of a modern ECU's knock control. However, doesn't the D4S with dual injectors use Toyota's ECU programming, rather than Subaru's? Dual injection is bound to complicate knock control even further.

Differences between BRZ SE and BRZ SE Lux?

I do RTFM when I get a new car, but it tends to be the controls, warnings and dials that I'm interested in, not the heated seats! -

I only ever switch mine backwards. Forwards is too hot and I don't mind the longer wait for it to warm up. Ruth, on the other hand, would prefer a position of 'scalding hot near the core of the sun' setting on her seat. -
Cheers, I'll take a look for the links. EDIT: the 7" unit is the Eonon GA2176UK. Both the fitting kit FKIT-TOYOTA-65 and USB cable adapter CTTOYOTAUSB are available on eBay meaning that you can order the whole lot on eBay and use your Nectar points!

You've piqued my interest with the 7" Eonon unit. It's on eBay for £179 - is that the one? Good price for an Android 9 unit. What connector adapters did you need or did everything come with the kit?

My BRZ stitching is red but also the BRZ logo in the alcantera/leather seat back is red, unlike in that photo. -

If it had been Android Auto compatible I'd be happy. As it is, the US centric apps are useless and the sound is terrible. It's ok, the engine is my orchestra and I have the 'big rig' at home for proper listening. Sent from my LG-Q6 using Tapatalk -

The seat warmers do work well and I only ever need the low setting. I prefer the half cloth half leather layout as it grips you better than full leather seats. -

Sooner or later I'll get an Android head unit so that I can install apps that are genuinely useful, like Waze. The Starlink will go in the bin if I'm feeling generous. If I'm not, then I'll read it some Vogon poetry. -

I have an SE Lux and can confirm that it has half leather & heated seats. I sincerely hope that the 'Starlink' head unit is not a special because, in my generous estimation, that steaming pile of merde is worth £1.28. -
Isn't it great when the car hums along beautifully, everything is working well and power is there when you need it? Not to mention go-kart like responses. I love this car! Next job for me is fitting the STI front lip, which is rated as tricky and there is a YouTube video worth following. Apparently they send the instructions for the pre-facelift model despite the lip being for 2017+ and they don't show all the correct locations for the stick-on drilling templates. I need a dry day to get the car up on axle stands and get the job done. Preferably not freezing cold.

Good luck, that's a nice colour. They're pretty robust as they were designed for modding. You should definitely get the valve spring recall done. Is the engine modded in any way? Otherwise, it's check the state of the oil, brake discs, signs of gross uneven wear in the tyres, make sure the electric windows work properly. Listen for rear axle grind. Look for signs of paint flaking. Check online that it isn't a category A,B, S or N insurance write-off.

The first time my BRZ stepped out on Primacies it was around a small roundabout and was frankly embarrassing. There was hardly any speed or throttle involved. That was the exact moment I decided they had to go. They came off with very little mileage on them.
-
Agreed, the Primacies are horrible and do not inspire confidence, no matter how proficient you are as a driver. I don't want to make a mistake and end up in the ditch on my single track country lane. I had a set of Goodyear Vector 4Seasons on the stock wheels last year and they were brilliant. This year, I have PS4s on my 8" wheels and hope to get by without using another set of wheels/tyres. There has been only light frost and a sprinkling of snow so far, but deep snow is a real test on that lane, not to mention going past tractors coming the other way who don't even slow down.

They seemed to think it was a stress crack, not really to do with the supercharger. It hadn't taken a knock, as far as I know. Abbey welded it up for me and it's been quieter since.

Drives beautifully, my Scangauge now shows correct MAP (100 for atmospheric, <100 for vacuum, >100 for boost) up to around 0.7 bar (10 psi), which shows as 170 on the Scangauge, and the noise has gone. No more worries or 3000 rpm limit
-
Good news - it was just an exhaust blow in the TD super resonator, the crack being opened up under load and with revs. Phew, what a relief! I've got the 3-bar MAP sensor installed and Mark is just sorting out low rev fuelling to make it a little smoother on pulling away. I shall enjoy driving it home!

Apart from the current issue, the supercharger is a fab bit of kit. The integration and installation are very professional. If I sit close to the front offside of the car I can just hear the intercooler pump swishing away when the ignition is on (I was pumping my tyres at the time). Apart from that, the belt is nice and tight and runs true (I had problems with a previous Sprintex charger) and there are no signs of installation nasties. On the road, at low speed I can just feel the effects of parasitic load on the engine but it's not a lot more than, say, turning on the aircon. I guess it may become more evident in summer with the Harrop and aircon both loading the engine. I need the mapping tweaked at low revs above idle to just help the fuelling a little for smoother control. At speed, it's smooth, progressive and gives a hell of a burst of acceleration if I'm hoofing it. 3rd, 4th and 5th are the gears where you can really give it pedal and the rewards are eager torque right up to the red line (I set my light to come on at 7000 rpm). It just feels like a bigger engine - no surprises, no suddenly coming on boost, just a linear shove in the back. Even in the wet, it feels safe and controllable with no surprise snaps. I like the way superchargers feel. On the motorway, 6th is now a very useful gear and if I'm lazy I can keep up with most traffic without the need to drop to 5th. If someone is pulling away, dropping it to 5th is usually plenty. The car is noisier because of the effect of load on the sound and because I went with a UEL manifold. With the TD super-resonator, it's as loud as I would want it. There is no drone at speed but it can get loud on hard acceleration. To my surprise, the 17 x 8 wheels with Michelin 225 PS4s are perfectly balanced for the car. I really don't need more rubber, it's highly controllable and turns in well. Overall, I am well pleased. This is my daily driver and I needed it to work well. You're always going to have some teething issues with boost and I accepted that as part of the deal.
-
Great. See you there!
-
It does cruise beautifully on the motorway and AFR shows a steady 14.7. I'm hoping it's a mechanical or panel buzz kicking in above 3500 rpm.
-
Car is booked in with Abbey next Tuesday. Mark is away this week.
-
Eek, after finding out what it takes to replace the oil pump, I sincerely hope it isn't that!
-
On my mostly motorway commute of 60 miles per day I'm getting pretty much exactly 36mpg. This is with the ECUTeK map in mode 1 using Shell V-Power unleaded. About a third of the journey is on cruise control through the speed checked section of the M3. When I'm having fun on country roads, it comes down somewhat! I'm wondering what others are seeing?
