Good shout, Lauren. I'll certainly look at that! Sent from my LG-Q6 using Tapatalk

I'm beginning to wonder if it's knock. It doesn't sound like knock from previous experience but there is something going on with the mapping. Mode 3 (safe) has become unstable. I've contacted Mark at Abbey to see if I can bring it over. Sent from my LG-Q6 using Tapatalk

Not just 400 bhp but 400 whp! -
General FI questions - Rod strength and supercharger whine

This is interesting, from wikimotors... -
Sorry, I didn't mean the crank pulley, I think it's the AC pulley? Or water pump?
-
I'm going to have to get someone to press the loud pedal while I stick my head under the bonnet.
-
I have a new noise that has appeared over the last few days. At first I thought it was a panel buzz or possibly an exhaust blow. It's coming from the engine bay but I can't pinpoint it and I haven't been able to get anyone to rev the engine while looking under the bonnet. It only appears when revving hard under acceleration rather than when cruising, and does not appear to affect performance. I now think it sounds more like scraping and I wonder if my TD exhaust manifold is touching the crank pulley, which is very close, when the engine is tilted over slightly from acceleration? Has anyone had similar happen?

That works for me.

General FI questions - Rod strength and supercharger whine

Just to add to the previous debate on intake air temperatures, my Harrop runs fairly consistently at +19 to +20 iAT. The intercooler pump comes on with ignition so is always running. -
It's what I was told by both Tuning Developments and Abbey Motorsport. 300bhp at the crank. I'm getting that now with the Harrop - Abbey (who installed it) said I would be getting into risky territory if I used a smaller pulley without engine mods. I've no reason to, the power is plenty.
-
Stock fuel pump and injectors are good for around 300bhp, which suits most superchargers and stage 1 turbos.
-
I'm looking at having StopTech 328 fronts installed sometime this year. I don't track the car so it should be more than enough for me.
-
I'm up for it too as long as I'm free. Was a good breakfast last time!
-
Since my opening post, my economy is now 30.6mpg as of today, since I had the supercharger installed. Mostly fast motorway commutes and country driving.
-
I've had my 2017 BRZ for two years and enjoyed every day of ownership. - Harrop supercharger - TD UEL manifold - TD catback exhaust system - HKS intake duct - H&R Super Sport lowering springs - Rota 17x8 wheels with 225/45 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 I also have an STI front lip to install when the weather improves.
-
The catback makes very little difference to tune or performance. It's just about noise. Sent from my LG-Q6 using Tapatalk

Yes, 225 / 45 R17 makes my speedo more accurate, only out by 2-3mph at 70. However, using a GPS based app makes things more accurate.
-
I must try and do some timings with an app sometime.

Looking at this, I would have to be all setup optimally to have any chance against one. The gear changes are very impressively instantaneous. Pity the whole thing is wrapped as a mundane hatchback. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kf06ZwmMlrA

Good to know for next time!

I was already in 6th so I just dropped it to 5th. In retrospect... Even a Golf R, while seemingly the same power at 300bhp, has twice the torque across a wide range.
-
A few things: the economy has settled to around 30.6mpg. It did hit a high of 30.8, but in this nice weather I've been using the power a bit more again. The supercharger installation is running very smoothly and I think it likes the cool intake air, which is running at +14 (so 22C today). The rear tyres are really wearing much faster than the fronts now with the supercharger, it's reminiscent of my old BMW in that respect. I should probably rotate them to even things up a little. I had a Golf right up my backside this afternoon. Dropped it to 5th and hoofed it. Nope, wasn't losing him so I pulled aside in the next gap. It was a Golf R. Oh well, can't beat them all!

The number of times I hear this in the hi-fi forum I administer is laughable, always offered by someone as 'proof' that I can't be hearing what I'm hearing. As for "butt dyno", I don't believe anyone here made any claims about increased performance? I'll repeat: the Archoil product makes my engine quieter and run smoother.

Instead of making so many assumptions why don't you just try the product for yourself? Then you can have an opinion. Sent from my LG-Q6 using Tapatalk

It's the same for me, the car always starts on the previously set map. Sent from my LG-Q6 using Tapatalk
