    Steering Wheel Locks

If you have an ECUTeK map, you can have one of the modes programmed as an immobiliser, meaning that the car cannot be started even with the fob unless you know how to get it out of that mode. I found it gave extra peace of mind when I parked at the airport long term car park for a few days.

Great car showing how hybrid can be done well. I had a Sprintex supercharger installed on mine. Pocket rocket it was!

Fuel Coffee House meet SAT 16th November

Count me tentatively in, subject to checking that I haven't been given a 'task' to do!

Louise, is that a CR-Z in your avatar? I used to have one.

    That unique GT86 sound!

Sixth gear is good for motorway cruising - reduces noise and improves economy. It's not what the car is about, but if you use it on your daily commute as I do (60 miles per day), then it's important, too. Agreed about the sound, the boxer engine does have a lovely rumble.

I have several times had someone stick their head out of the window and ask "what is that" to which I cryptically reply "Subaru". The response is always "is that the new one then? Never seen one before" or similar!

It was very nice to meet you all, hope you had a good trip home. Mine was the only BRZ - I feel special!!

The mpg is settling down close to 30mpg (currently 29.6 and slowly rising). That compares with 35mpg before the supercharger. I've not been using the power all the time, obviously, so it's a real-world idea of what you're likely in for if you go the supercharger route. About 5mpg loss. My daily commute is mostly motorway and fast A roads.

I was going to wash mine but it hardly seems worth it! See you all Sunday.

    Worst Car Ever Driven

The rental Fiesta we had in Crete last week wasn't much better, and had so many dings and scratches before we took possesion that the report was hilarious. Then we saw how the Cretans drive! Sent from my LG-Q6 using Tapatalk

Hankook V12s are good, I liked them a lot on the CR-Z.

I find that my 17 x 8 wheels with 225 PS4s give a great deal more grip than the awful Primacies, but not so much that I can't feel it respond to the throttle in cornering. Even more so now that I have the supercharger. I can't help feeling that 9 or 9.5 width wheels would dull the car too much.

I buy from ProTyre and they rotate their tyres quickly due to being a big operation. Their price for PS4s is also very good. Sent from my LG-Q6 using Tapatalk

Do you have the Primacy tyres? They will break traction in the wet at a moment's notice.

Talbot Alpine a very long time ago. The gearshift was a pudding stick, so imprecise it was a joke.

The fuel trims have greatly helped drivability and the car is easier to control at traffic crawling speeds now. Once properly underway, it feels much like before except there is response to a decent prod at any speed in any gear. It almost never needs flooring - just a good prod and the speed builds quickly, something I remember my supercharged Honda doing. I honestly wouldn't want or need more power than this. It's very well matched to the chassis. Will report on average mpg once the gauge has settled into a near-final reading.

Hard to tell at this early stage as the battery disconnect reset things. Motorway cruising doesn't seem hit too hard but it is drinking more than before. My guess is the average will drop from 35.6 to the low 30s. Sent from my LG-Q6 using Tapatalk
  20. Yep, it's a hollow pin just to make things more difficult. I bought a pin punch to do mine as nothing else worked. Sent from my LG-Q6 using Tapatalk

Despite wanting it for torque, and it very much providing, the shove comes in when giving it a long sustained prod in a gear like 4th or 5th where you do appreciate the combination of push and wail as the cams open up.

No, I had the Sprintex on my previous car, a Honda CR-Z. It certainly pepped up the 1.5l hybrid and turned many heads with its pronounced whine.

Both the car and I are doing some learning. I think the ECU has settled into a better throttle response and I've learned to be very gentle at low revs. Together, we're much smooooother now! Had a chance to give it some welly last night chasing a fast Jaguar. Very impressive and I could easily keep up with him.

One interesting note: I was used to the intake air temperature being around 4C above ambient when driving (increasing much more when sat in traffic). I have a Scangauge giving me the readings. Now, even with the intercooler, the IAt hovers around 30C or above, showing how much compression warms up the air.

Stock brakes at the moment. They feel adequate to the task on the road. I did discuss a big brake kit with Scott and will pursue this at a later time after I've saved more pennies. I also thought I might need wider wheels and tyres but my 17x8 with 225 PS4s seem to cope with the increased torque. I'd rather keep learning how to balance the car on the throttle rather than having huge levels of grip disguise what's happening down there.
