I'll take a picture tomorrow. The clearance between coolant hose and exhaust pipe is only a few mm and the bulky wraps around both effectively then touch each other. Perhaps @Mike@TD.co.uk could comment?
-
I considered ECU tune to be a given with such a change. I'm not disappointed with TD's ECUTeK setup. The torque is transformed.
-
That's fair enough, but I chose the UEL specifically for the better midrange torque, which I want for road use, not for the sound it makes.
-
At high revs, but for torque?
-
The secret is entirely in the exhaust manifold, and it may be in having UEL. Whatever, I think that plus a tune makes the engine deliver plenty of midrange torque and feel much more lively, too. You still need to be in the right gear, but, boy, catch 3rd just right and the car accelerates impressively. I also like the noise it makes, again perhaps only with the UEL version.

Thank you, Mike, and have a great one yourself! Sent from my LG-Q6 using Tapatalk

Agreed, after my initial intoxication with the acceleration it became unwise to do it all the time. In all other respects, the BMW was too heavy to have fun with and was frankly rather a handful in the wet.

Around 4000! It was tyre shredding.

I came from a remapped BMW 335d M-Sport Coupe with 370bhp / 700nm torque (yes, you read that right) and I still prefer my BRZ. It gives me more driving fun, is more challenging and is far more rewarding to drive.
-
Welcome! Nice to see another BRZ here.

I find map 4 useful to switch to for snow and extreme wet conditions when you don't want razor sharp responses and huge torque when pulling away.
-
To respond to a couple of points: yes, the sound is subjective and each person finds it different. For me, the super-resonated is perfect whereas the resonated was too loud and droney at speed. My other half drove the other day and strangely it sounded quieter from the passenger side. I'm at Bulldog Twyford right now, having it serviced, and it sounded lovely when they started it up and drove it in. The sound pipe can be neatly deleted by having the TD inlet pipe installed. As for power, the TD NA kit does exactly what is needed and improves midrange torque where it matters. Every time I think I want the turbo I drive the car and once again remark at the superb balance of handling, response and performance. Not to mention surprisingly good ride and economy, important for my 60 mile daily commute.

Some help and advice please, winter tyres/alloys
MartinT replied to Nelix's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
I am very pleased with these tyres, given their first test last week in huge rainfall on the motorway and this morning in icy 1°C conditions. The Goodyears inspire confidence and have greatly better grip in wet and icy conditions than my summer Falkens. I have yet to test them in snow but so far I'm impressed. -
H&R Super Sport springs here. Nice lowering combined with still very good ride quality. Sent from my LG-Q6 using Tapatalk

I get a daily summary e-mail from the forum, which keeps the traffic down. Limited rear view? It's wonderful compared with my previous CR-Z! Sent from my LG-Q6 using Tapatalk

Wheel weight rota blitz, pro race 1.2
MartinT replied to Daninplymouth's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
My Rota Blitz are shod with Falken Azenis FK-510 tyres so I can't weigh them for you. Lovely wheels, though. -
The LED lights on my BRZ are even better than xenons. Sent from my LG-Q6 using Tapatalk

GT86 BRZ Tuning Package from Tuning Developments
MartinT replied to Mike@TD.co.uk's topic in Tuning Developments
Look at the torque curves. You need the remap to get the best out of the replacement manifold. Sent from my LG-Q6 using Tapatalk- 231 replies

For Sale: 2013 GT86 Stage 2 TD Turbo.
MartinT replied to Will T8WMM's topic in For Sale GT86 / BRZ Cars
That is one nice, and sympathetically modded, looking car. -
Ah, thanks for correcting me. It used to be 98 when it was Shell Optimax.

Welcome! I was last in Perth 20 years ago. Depends on what you mean by 'molest', LOL! Personally, I go for a demur close-to-stock look, but the lowering is obvious as are the wheels. I think you can do things that don't take away from the car's pure sense of purpose. Of course, adding a little performance is in keeping with the looks.
