I see this in my hi-fi forum a lot. "internet wisdom" appears to consist largely of people expressing opinions when they have no experience of the product!

Can you increase HP without increasing torque
MartinT replied to Jay Bamrah's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
I think so, yes. I guess the other way of increasing HP is to raise the rev limit but keep the torque relatively flat. -
The plugs that came out were in decent condition, so I would attribute most of the improvement to the Delicious coil packs. Sent from my Oppo X3 using Tapatalk

Here's my torque curve again: 284nm maximum torque (209lb.ft for the metric challenged). The green/yellow curve is what the Rogue EL manifold brought to the performance over the red curve (TD UEL).

It's interesting to me, too, as Mark made a very safe map for my Harrop. I did consider replacing the fuel pump with a higher performance one, but awaiting further advice.

If you want to look at a Harrop installation, just say so! Sent from my Oppo X3 using Tapatalk

About the same as yours. The old coil packs look ok too, I've kept them for spares. Sent from my Oppo X3 using Tapatalk

I had the 60k service done today down at Abbey Motorsport. A couple of you asked about the Delicious Tuning coil packs. Mine are blue 2017+ ones. Bear in mind that my plugs have also been swapped for HKS ones as preferred by Abbey over the Denso stock ones. Response and pickup are noticeably sharper. If I press the pedal from overrun, acceleration is instant rather than the moment's hesitation that I had become used to. Low down pull is improved, probably just because of the instant response. It's sharper away from the lights but also if prodding the pedal in 6th on the motorway. Overall, it just makes the car that much more responsive - despite already being on a very good ECUTEK tune for the 'charger.

Ok, thanks. I'll give Autoglass a call and see if they will try.
-
I'd rather have a Subaru original than a pattern screen. Surely, though, the Subi and Toyota screens are the same, which means a UK shortage anyway?
-
Got a cracked windscreen a couple of weeks ago. Contacted Autoglass through my insurers and they ordered a replacement from Subaru. It's been almost two weeks and they're still waiting for delivery. Have we got a shortage of windscreens now on top of everything else?

Mine went with the supercharger and I don't miss it. Get plenty of noise anyway.

I use these up front. They are good in my opinion.

BRZ 6th year body service/underbody retreatment
MartinT replied to Shad's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Gosh, my 60k is booked soon but the BRZ is only 4 years old. Sent from my Oppo X3 using Tapatalk -
Bulldog passed mine. Sent from my Oppo X3 using Tapatalk

It is. Harrop, not Cosworth. Yes, it's a smoother more 'racecar' sound and is very nice at high revs when pressing on. Sent from my Oppo X3 using Tapatalk

No problem, Luke, I will be going to more meetings, just haven't got dates in my diary yet! The exhaust is quieter with the Rogue EL compared with the TD UEL. Still has a good bark, though! Sent from my Oppo X3 using Tapatalk

Drone happens at specific resonant frequencies of the exhaust system, so is tied to RPM. If that happens at, say, 70mph in 6th, it can be tiring and annoying for long journeys. Drone is minimised by resonators that dampen those frequencies. Sent from my CPH2145 using Tapatalk

Agreed. The only other thing that cycles like that is the electric fan.

I'm royally pissed off at the second lot of touch-up paint that doesn't match my BRZ's body colour by a country mile. Wondering what's going on, I double-checked the plate in the nearside door and confirmed the paint code as K1X - Pearl White. However, a close look at images on eBay confirms that it's being conflated with Crystal White. I believe this is why the match is so terrible. I've also found Toyota paint called K1X Crystal White?? I have now found a third touch-up pen labelled as K1X Pearl White and have ordered it. The last straw will be to go to Bulldog Subaru in Twyford and order some no doubt exorbitant Subaru paint to do the job. It shouldn't be this difficult!

Not yet - the 60k service is booked for 3rd August. I will report on how it feels after it's done.

I'm not anti-coilover but the cheap ones are awful. My H&R lowering springs and Bilstein B8 dampers are a great match.

Top Gear could show them a thing or two about how to film a car. That and the voice-for-advertising-holiday-homes doesn't do it any favours.
