I think the parcel shelf wouldn't look to good with blanks fitted, while it's off it's easy to cover.

The intec will be the easiest way of doing things, I made my own out of a plasma light bar and built the frame around it, loads of fettling to get it right. Above how to remove parcel shelf and fit 3rd brake light.
