  3. I would be very happy to be part of the committee (but I would not be able to become a formal director, even for a non-profit organisation). I am also very happy to take responsibility for organising: A) several "official " club events (south and anywhere within 2 hrs of London) like Tunerfest South, Castle Combe action days, etc - we should take a vote though to keep decent attendance may be couple "official " track days or training days (CATD was very good, can try to organise again). We can do say 1 at Brands or Silverstone and 1 at Donny to start with. C) Lee is much better organising social events, but I can do better and get few organised down South/ South East. 4. Got the e-mail yesterday and booked the (free) ticket. Who else is planning to come?
  5. Thanks My first time at Combe and 1st proper track day with new turbo - was taking it easy[emoji16]. Dont have video but timing was just over 1:30 (could have been slightly better last session as it was lot quieter on track, but guess will check it next time). Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  6. Right, had another track day at Brands Hatch. Bedford did not happen, but I had a day at Carlimits at North Weald Airfield + 2 track days in single week. Can now do some "like-for-like" comparison (even though this was only my 2nd day at Brands). The car drives and feels completely different on a fun track like Brands. Its not as forgiving now as standard NA and few times I ended oversteering on Druids and Graham Hill bend (yes, more seat time and tuition required), but acceleration is just at different level. Even though it was fairly busy and I ended I recording only 2 last sessions, my best lap time for these 2 was 1:02:8 (and quite a few in 1:02-1:03) range vs 1:07-1:08 range previously. And that's on quite busy track - with some proper training and practice I now think under 1:00 may be doable. Top speed on Brabham straight is +10 mph (with good exit from Clearways I managed 118 mph before braking, admittedly only once) and overtaking slower VW GTs and Porshes now easier (although I still don't feel comfortable getting under car length to them going into corners). Carrying more speed is definitely heavier on brakes and by the end of the evening I could smell the rubber and brakes (probably would need to upgrade pads earlier than I thought). ABS also engaged more often then previously (again, more practice needed). I had 2 sessions with relatively short period when the day was drawing to a close: oil temp did not even get close to 130. Engine warning light came on after last session before going home. Torque Pro could not identify what it was but then it went away (will see if it comes back again, but hope not). May be heat as it was really hot under the bonnet. And I had quite a few people stopping by, admiring and commenting on Mike's great work (shame I could not answer some of the technical questions). Think I was doing decent advertising for TD. So, after 1k+ miles and some time on track -definitely glad I decided not to wait. Now that I have the car I wanted I need to learn how to drive it properly...
  7. Short comment after track day at Castle Combe (more to follow after 2 more track days next week). - Its A LOT MORE FUN on track! The downside though is that extra torque can both compensate for poor driving skills (in my case) but also be less forgiving (loosing traction with 9.5wide wheels in MPS 4 is easy again and going into oversteer at Castle Combe is not the experience I would have wanted on my 1st track day). - Although my sessions were limited to 15mins max (semi open pit lane format), oil temp did not even get close to 130 (it was just over half way between 90 and 130, so say 115 ish?). Will see how it goes at Bedford next week where I will try 20mins. Will try Torque pro as well to get more accurate reading. - I cant compare yet on a like-for-like track day, but going 120 mph before braking for Avon rise is very very addictive. - Its harder on brakes and tyres. I see noticeable wear on tyres as well and (although may be its my imagination) I think I noticed pads got thinner after this track day (and a day at Carlimits on Thursday). I don't really want to start changing pads specifically for track days (although may be time to learn it). Further update to follow

GT86 wheels and tyres and mods

Agree with this. This is no brainer imo. Tyres and brake pads next. Even stock are pretty good unless you go on track, but if you are looking to change wheels consider it as well. If you can stretch to BBK consider fronts, but again I think they only needed on track (or for looks). Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Edited my first entry. I must say its a lot more comfortable in corners, definitely a big improvement on standard 3-point belt. Need to test it on track now...

    GT86 Day

[emoji16] it should be 8/6, its Saturday! And before the start of school holidays, so hopefully better chance of having decent turnout. But it wouldn't be "official" 86 day. If its in June I would be up for it, although may be a bit early to plan[emoji6], good suggestion though! Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Right, same problem with 2nd side, no movement at all... Need smth with longer lever, will go to Halfords tomorrow to get longet socket spanner. If that doesn't work, will need to find garage to get it done. Noticed trim clip missing, will order on Amazon Also, generally trim is pretty flimsy, and I hope it will get back in place ok[emoji848] This turned out to be more kerfuffle than expected Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Thanks for the comment, you mean the 1st photo? Tried to use wb40 to loosen it, still no luck. Its royal pita. Am I just unlucky with the bolt. Spent over an hour [emoji852] May be will take trim from the 2nd pillar and see if its any better. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  17. Its part of "package" Mike put together for me, I wouldn't know the difference but he can proper comments/ details. I will try TorquePro or OBDLink when I am on track, but I have not tried oil temp or engine temp reading via OBD before. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  18. I think this is probably the right place for a quick post... While I was enjoying family summer holidays, my 2017 auto GT86 had a trip to Warrington to visit @Mike@TD.co.uk After getting TD's NA package last December FI "upgrade" was always a consideration and I decided not to wait much longer a jump on an FI wagon. In addition to TD turbo kit upgrade I have opted for "super silent" 2nd decat, "super resonated" cat back and screamer pipe re-circulated into downpipe - the idea being that the car should stay quiet and be allowed on all major UK track days, with Bedford being close and Thruxton on the target list... Well, Mike managed to exceed my expectations here - its only 1-2 db higher, just the exhaust tone is somewhat deeper/ more mature. Don't get me wrong, I do like the growl of a V6 or a V8, but I wanted to keep it "neighbours and track friendly" (Mike did say though its a bit too quiet for his liking, but I've got exactly what I was after). The car now makes just over 281HP with 0.4 bars, with over 200 FtLb of torque after 4k. Now, first impression after 3 days of driving and just over 320 miles: In "normal" street driving, because it stays quiet you barely notice it has FI, it does feel "livelier" but you can drive it just like before (I don't think my Mrs would even notice on city/ daily routes), but as soon as come on the main road or just push the throttle beyond 3k revs you just hear a gentle whistle, somewhat deeper growl and... few seconds later you are at (or over) speed limit. Enjoy it a second longer and you are over 80 mph. Although I had a good run on M6 toll road, in normal D (auto) mode I could hardly push it enough to truly say what its capable of... have to wait couple weeks until I manage to go on track end of August. Mike also installed MFactory 4.67 FD, nice upgrade for my auto. And I have got an engine oil cooler and an autobox oil cooler. Too early to tell but after 3hrs of driving at 30+C the oil temp have not moved above 90C, not by a degree. Hope it can cope well on track with current temps, I will have 3 days in 1 week shortly So far very enjoyable and very happy I have decided to take a plunge with FI, will post an update after few track days and more experience...

New owner from the north west

Welcome aboard! If you're in Warrington I suggest you stop by Tuning Developments and talk to @Mike@TD.co.uk. I've been there myself Friday. may end up with a long "wish list" though afterwards. Insurance - Sky is reasonably priced and easy to put mods mid term. Greenlight worthwhile giving a call as they do cheap track days insurance add on for policyholders, but they don't insure London or Manchester (go figure). If you're planning track days insurance I found Morris best, particularly if you get track day insurance for 5+ days in one go (regardless though first few track days will be very expensive - one advice I found useful from club members is to insure for a smaller max, say £15k, or I guess you can try smth like £10k for a 62 plate). Not sure what you mean by "club spec", but here are my 5 cents after owning GT86 for a year and a bit: - Change air filter (I have K&N that was on the car for about 2.5k miles and unopened Cosworth, don't need them as I went FI - if you're interested I can bring them to one of the club meets of track days); - Get red of primacies (unless you like drifting, then definitely keep them). MPS4 are much gripper, particularly in wet (still did not stop me spinning on track and going though the grass though). Consider road noise when selecting tyres, unless you put loads of sound deadening it would be loud (like, really loud) on motorways... - If you planning to go on track change pads and if you can afford go for front BBK (rears are mainly for looks..., but they do look nice). I have KSports with Yellowstuff pads (and Yellowstuff pads on stock calipers on rears). Its cheaper than Reylands BBK and I think for our cars is a very decent cost:benefit combination, although Reylands discs with AP calipers is a very attractive and tempting proposition. Think of pads noise, I found Yellowstuffs quiet with no squeal and good cold bite, although with more track days I would probably consider smth more track oriented next time (well, may be). Mike@TD has ProjectMu which were highly recommended by people on track days and I know few girls/ guys run Ferodos. Both are more expensive, but with BBK pads last longer so its probably a worthwhile investment. - NA package from TD (manifold + re-map) noticeably transforms the car by adding 25+ HP and nearly 30% torque to mid-range (and ~ 20HP at top). Some people travel from abroad to Warrington (well, from Ireland if I recall...) to get it done, no brainer for you. In fact, I would probably say its the best mod for our cars, regardless of whether you take it on track or not (and if you decide to go FI later, it can be added on/ converted by TD later). - Lowering springs or coil overs. 2017 suspension if firmer (particularly on BRZ as I understand), but I found Tein Flex A is worthwhile upgrade, particularly as they are adjustable - you can make them quite firm on track and then go back to soft, which is blessing in London going over bumps. Again, I selected Flex A based on forum members reviews and mid-range price, although if budget is not a constraint there are more interesting options (oh, Ohlins…) - Change speakers, stocks are dreadful. Focal 165TOY is simplest plug-and-play option, cheep and cheerful (although of course more expensive, better options available). Think about sound deadening when installing (I should have done more even if weight would have gone marginally up) Go to few club meets, see what other mods you may like. Go on track days, I am putting my on club calendar in case others can join (admittedly being in London they tend to be down south). We are organising club track day at Bedford on Nov 5th , that would probably be 2-2.5hrs from you (I guess) or Silverstone on Nov 25th ~Most importantly - ENJOY!

  22. Welcome to the club! Saw your thread on US forum [emoji6]. Your mods coming along nicely. I have a 2017 auto GT86, since last June, interesting to compare mods. I would probably say most notable difference for me was NA tune (change in manifold, thats header for you, right?, and remap) - torque dip is gone, more fun on track as well. Then tyres (I have Mps4 as you but GramLights rather than Volks), then Bbk (I have on front only). For track adjustable coilovers (I have Tein Flex As) are nice to have, but I wouldn't think of them as a must, particularly as I understand BRZ suspension in 2017/ 2018 is somewhat stiffer anyway. FD replacement was highly recommended by quite a few people for auto, mine is currently being done (with few more power mods [emoji2]), so cant provide personal experience comments yet.
