Would anyone be interested in going to JDM Combe on June 2nd or Summer Action Festival on July 7th? If there are few of us I can add to the calendar of social events and ask for a club space

Decided and ordered IS165TOY... I am not an audiophile by any means and usually just make the music loud enough, but listening to the same music back to back after Lexus made me think that even a basic upgrade of door speakers would be a worthwhile mod. I might be wrong, but my impression was that dash speakers did not sound that bad, but door speakers did not have bass at all and unlike in Lexus barely add to the depths of sound. The back seat speakers also barely noticeable, but I decided not to bother hoping changing door speakers and a bit of extra sound insulation can make enough difference to keep me content. Will see next weekend... Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Bedford Autodrome GT - General Car Track Day (MSV) Saturday, February 10, 2018 http://www.msvtrackdays.com/car/calendar/2018/feb/10-ba/ £119 Bedford Autodrome's GT Circuit is not only one of the longest trackday circuits in the country but also one of the safest. The huge run off areas make it an ideal venue whether this is your first trackday or your fiftieth - there is nowhere else like it in the country. Great value. Garages are fee. Instruction £25 per session. 1. VAD17 Come on, join me!

Very helpful and seems reasonably priced. Can anyone recommend a shop near South West London or Surrey to install and add some sound proofing and rough cost? Now that I don't have engine sound pumped into the cabin OEM quality (or lack of) is noticeable even for my tone deaf ears... Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

GT86 BRZ Tuning Package from Tuning Developments
VAD17 replied to Mike@TD.co.uk's topic in Tuning Developments
Regarding coolant hose - thats probably question to Mike. I wanted TD NA tune and after talking to Mike and explaining how I use the car and drive it, I just let him customize it based on my "wish list". I am still experiencing it and experimenting... I also got silicone intake hose, KSports front BBK, braided lines, Yellowstuff pads front and rears, Tein Flex A, and Rays GramLights CR57 with MPS4 tyres. TD did all the work, changed fluids, aligned wheels, plus did 1st service. I must also add - its been a pleasure dealing with Mike and talking to him, superb customer service. (Mike - thanks for your patience with quite a few dumb questions from me[emoji23]). I will be coming back for more, even considering the long drive its worth it.[emoji16] Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk- 231 replies

Thinking about doing Silverstone again. Opentrack.co.uk has GP track day on March 18th (£275). I expect it would be a little crowded as is relatively good price and on Sunday, but it was a lot of fun in November and very interesting to be on track with a number of very expensive and a lot more powerful cars. I also have a family friend who is very keen to do few laps at Silly, so will try to get him 1 or 2 sessions with instructor and then ask kind fellow (more experienced) drivers if he can tag along for a few laps[emoji6]. Anyone would like to join? I am thinking if with few people it may be worth getting an instructor for the full day and and get 3-4 sessions each. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Pre-Black Friday Daily Pick - Exclusive deal! RAYS Gram Lights 57CR 18x9.5J ET38 SOLD
VAD17 replied to Lucas's topic in Part-Box
They are duralumin (I think). Rays website has GT86 photos that's just pure art (no, I will not use the other word), and longer wheel lug nuts just visually so nice... But I am not sure about the center caps. It looks ok on photo, but I just dont like classic black ones (not even sure why). Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk -

GT86 BRZ Tuning Package from Tuning Developments
VAD17 replied to Mike@TD.co.uk's topic in Tuning Developments
I have got NA tune package done by Mike@TD.co.uk just before new year and now after 150+ miles I thought I am ready to post couple comments. Power: + 21HP max/ + 25HP mid range. Mid-range torque: +>30%, about 40 Fltb @ 4k rpm I must admit I did not feel GT86 lacked power for daily driving, may be apart from track days (and only because I needed to overcompensate for my insufficient ability), but the torque dip mid range was something I felt could have been better from the very time I left the dealership. Now, the torque dip has been completely eliminated and the car no longer hesitates before reaching 5k rpms. I fact, anything above 2.5-3k feels like a different driving experience - its much more eager to please, no lingering and lot more fun to drive (although going over speed limit now happens quicker). I noticed that I subconsciously use paddle shifters to keep slightly higher revs that auto normally does (and the MPG did go down a bit). Mike has pretty much "fixed" the only thing I felt somewhat underwhelmed about. I am very glad I decided not to wait much longer (well, lasted only 6mths before doing my first mods - separate post to follow...) and totally agree with all the forum comments about this being pretty much "the best mod". Well, for a balanced review - one problem, now I want to try the turbo car and see how it feels and drives back-to-back with NA tuned. Totally Mike's fault for offering a "staged upgrade option" at reasonable price and solid workmanship The noise level is easily low enough for me to go to Thruxton, the tone has changed somewhat and due to the change in air filter its more noticeable when the intake increases. Engine noise no longer pumped into the cabin which was a pleasant surprise for the family (I let them wait until I decide to change the exhaust :)). I just cant wait to go and try it out on track. THANK YOU Mike!- 231 replies

SOLD Selling my stock wheels with original Primacies tyres. Been on a car from delivery in June 2017. 2.5k miles (including 2 track days). Good condition. Very minor curbing mark on one wheel (1st photo, barely noticeable). Tyres nearly new (my first 2 track days, was easy on brakes). Selling as I got new 18" wheels and decided I dont need a spare set of 17". Collection from Mike @ Tuning Developments (Warrington, Cheshire). Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

I found that only Recaro can fit in the back with sufficient space for the front passenger or driver (just about). I have Recaro sport hero. Also, I could not fit seat with isofix properly, but as seats are sloping slightly downwards Recaro fitted in quite nicely and seems fairly secure. And the little one loves it (the car[emoji3]). I think once a year, but there are several courses. Check out this thread http://gt86.org.uk/forums/applications/tapatalk/index.php?/topic/4509-CAT-Driver-Training-Courses-2017 I'd be quite interested doing another one next year Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Re CATD: I think its worth it regardless of your experience. Club days were much cheaper than that and there were 6 of us and 2 instructors. I also thought 1:1 is expensive, but 2:1 or 3:1 was a good combination of theory, practice and and also looking what more experienced drivers tend to focus on. Its quite different to track day tuition with a lot more focus on car control, what happens to it depending on drivers input, etc. I have not tried Carlimits (yet), but few people also recommended them. Re insurance: I think its both. My first 2 days come to smth like £300ish, then single day quote was around £100-115 per day, but booking 5 was more like £80 per day. I arranged it through Morris. The policy valid for a year and for £15 I can change future trackdays. Greenline does policies with additional track day cover on pay as you go basis for £45 (if I recall correctly), but they couldn't insure me at all. I am going to Bedford again on Feb 10th, would be nice to see another GT86[emoji16] Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Not that I have much experience (yet), but when I started few month ago: 1) Get some training! I had couple days with CATD (first with my work buddy who does more frequent track days and another with this car club). Over couple days Colin gave me enough confidence to go on track and actually understand (well, at least a bit) what is happening with the car. I intend to get more once I do couple more track days (trail braking, left foot braking - lot more to learn and practice in my case). 2) Start with an easy track Guys here have a lot more experience and can provide better comments, but I found Bedford very good and easy to start with (may be a bit boring once you get more track time) and Silverstone also quite good with decent run off and long enough to be interesting (although it felt somewhat crowded at times). Definitely get some tuition. If you can afford get a whole day - i found splitting instructor day with someone very useful and reasonably cost effective. (Although next time I will get 3 sessions with instructor instead). 3) Insurance is a good idea My first was fairly expensive, but after couple track days I could get 5 days insurance for about £80 per day. I found that premium difference between 15k and 20k insurance was relatively small but then jumped quite a bit steeper (go figure), so consider partial cover a good idea. 4) Go stock for starters (To be fair I only followed this advice for 6mth [emoji6]). First time on a new track I personally found difficult to concentrate for more than 15mins, and learning race line took me a while so it was not the car but the driver (me) which was the limiting factor. 5) If you end up planning more track days get your own helmet and boots. I bought my helmet aftet couple track days and trying couple different ones. I thought Sparco were fairly reasonably priced. But definitely try few before deciding- even same size feel differently (particularly if one has oddly shaped head or ears)[emoji23]. I also bought boots on sale (could not resist 1/2 price offer for my size, even though they are blue). The pedal feel is so much different to trainers. I was pretty much the slowest on track, but it doesnt matter much as long as you enjoy yourself and initial learning curve and progess you make you love the car even more! I should be able to share "pre" and "post" TD NA tune experience after I do a track day at Bedford in Feb (will be rather subjective and based on limited track experience though). Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Cool, thanks. Will measure noise level when I get the car back. Fingers crossed [emoji3] Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Thanks guys Have not considered noise limit. I will measure it after TD NA tune and then can decide. Its pretty close to me and (at least on videos) looks like a good circuit. I will be going to Bedford in Feb and Brands in March. Cant wait... Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Hello good people, Can I ask more experienced forum members of their views on Thruxton circuit as a track day? And also, hopefully not a controversial topic, opinions on TDOs? I only had experience with MSV and Opentrack. Opentrack was at Silverstone and while it was very enjoyable being on track with McLarens, Astons and Ferraris at times it was somewhat crowded with waiting times in the pits. I have heard Gold Track allow less cars and although they are more expensive some friends say its worth it. Appreciate your thoughts Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Lets do one after new year? I will be definitely up to it. Above suggestions look good but smth further south would also work well. If you end up meeting around Christmas lets do another in Jan anyway [emoji6] Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
