Getting the quotes in. Recommendations welcomed.

And another update Sky - could not insure Lexus. About 40% more expensive than cheapest quote from main insurers (although smaller excess ). No cost for mods not increasing power (apart from £25 admin fee), fairly reasonable cost for modest (up to 20hp) increase (well, no FI for now). Direct line - cheapest quote for Lexus, extra discount for 2nd car (although not the cheapest overall). Told me changing wheels and keeping same level of cover does not need to be declared. Spend a lot of time on the phone talking about increase in premium if i upgrade brake discs and change suspension/ lower the car (for some reason they keep asking whether mods will be done by the manufacturer - i guess this can only mean authorised dealer in the UK). Estimate came to less than £50 higher than original quote (but I may call again to double check tomorrow). If i consider non power mods the difference between Sky and DL is just over £110. Do i save me some headache in the future and go with Sky? And considering Greenlight dont want to insure me in SW19, no luck finding insurance with track days included... Thought I would share some experience as well... I have 2 cars (the other is Lexus NX), 12yrs no claims. Had GT86 for 5mth, time to renew insurance. Plan to drive 3-4k miles p.a with occasional track day. No mods at this point (will not have any power mods yet apart from filter, will change wheels and tyres though next year). Greenlight - told me they do not insure in SW19 (one of the safest affluent areas in London). Chris Knott - told me i need to own the car for at least a year before qualifying for main underwriters. Quote was nearly 2x of my renewal quite (more than 2x of best i can get using comparison website). Adrian Flux - more than 2x more expensive than best quote i can get using comparison website. Not impressed... will do couple more calls... Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk -
Hi guys, can I ask for opinions on tow hooks/ straps. Do you typically fit both front and back? Do you prefer a hook or a strap, and why? Any recommendations? Based on the quick Google search looks like hooks are more straightforward and some look decent enough to leave permanently. Straps do look nice (IMO) but require bumper removal to fix into sub frame, right? Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Bedford is very good to start with (as was highlighted by quite a few people here), combination of fast and slow corners, lots of run off, I also felt marshals were rather good (though i am sure few chaps banned for noise would disagree). Its also long enough to be interesting and once you split it into sections you challenge yourself where you feel more confident. The only part i didnt particularly like was 2 straights with chicane between them. Even if you carry decent speed out of the corner, our cars are just too slow to accelerate (i could just about reach 110 ish before i had to brake again). But "slow(er)" corners are fab, I often noticed i was getting back closer to M3 on coeners that was overtaking me on straight. I'll definitely do it again[emoji16] Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Great first track day at Bedford. Started slow. Quite a lot of cars (eager drivers[emoji54]) in the first session, but them I was pretty much the slowest on track to start with. Took me nearly till the lunch to learn the track, corners and lines (well, nearly). Very pleased with my instructor (Steve Mansell) - started with quite a lot of info and detailed instructions and progressively concentrating on mistakes and where most noticeable improvements can be made. Then progressed to more spirited driving in the afternoon, enjoyed a very good few laps on my own (even managed not to be s cared to overtake little Clios[emoji16]). Last session spoiled a bit by some inconsiderate idiots trying to squeeze in last few laps and overtaking on both sides, and into corners 🤢. Need to start planning next track day. Oh, and my brakes started to squeak [emoji848], and 2 small chips on the front glass[emoji856] Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Thanks Lauren I was thinking 215/40 R18 for 18x8 wheels. Either Yoko V105 or MPS 4. Could not find exact weights by quick google, but guess they will be about 10kg (vs Primacies 9.2). I know I want 18" wheels and grippier tyres. Was planning for next year, but few hard to resist few options available now. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

And fee more newby questions if I may... Assuming I would want to keep my options open to go FI and BBK for front wheels: 1) 7.5/ 8.0/ 8.5? Basically the question is whether 7.5 is good enough or do i need at least 8.0 or 8.5 for 18" wheels? 2) offset: et35 or et40? I am not too bothered with perfect flush, but those wheels need to come out a bit comparing to stock 17"s Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Do you have 18" on offer? Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk -
Thank you guys, that's a very helpful range of opinions [emoji6] Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

After some more googling - they are the same as Team Dynamics. Buddy at work negotiating a group discount on them. Frankly, OZ would probably be my preference, but these are nearly 50% cheaper in 18"8. Thus wanted to get some thoughts. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Thats about sums it up then[emoji52]. Thanks Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
