Recall issued on cars to have valve springs replaced 2012-2013
mattt replied to Lauren's topic in Mechanical
This is a bit concerning: http://www.thedrive.com/news/26848/scion-fr-s-subaru-brz-owners-say-valve-spring-recall-fix-is-destroying-their-engines Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk -
Hello all I have the TD NA package (uel) + OEM 2nd cat + invidia q300 exhaust. I'm thinking of forced induction in future, but as I understand it from Mike the TD turbo requires the removal of the 2nd cat. As I need my car relatively hassle free and MOT worthy this is unfortunately not an option for me. What options are available to me? If going turbo (or indeed supercharged), would I need a more free flowing sports cat, and would the car likely pass MOT despite catless manifold? Much appreciate any responses to this "have my cake and eat it" question! Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk

Thanks for the replies. Who on here runs FI with cats and how do you get on at MOT time? Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk

I'm still absolutely loving my URL NA tune Mike The shifter springs have made it a joy to change gear! I wish I could go for the turbo but I haven't got the space / time / friendly MOT tester to not have a second CAT Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk- 231 replies

That's convenient as I'm due my spark plugs changed in March! Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk -
I really rate the RCE springs but I've nothing to compare them to I guess! I sorta went with the forum consensus here from a previous thread. My understanding is you can use them with bilstein shocks in the future if you wanted to. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk

I'm really happy with my racecomp engineering yellows. 20mm drop on standard shocks and the ride is still very close to OEM. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk

Morning all I have the TD NA package (UEL) with the secondary cat in place and an Invidia Q300 catback. I'm considering forced induction in the future but want to retain a cat for MOT friendliness. When I spoke to Mike about this he indicated it wouldn't be possible with the TD turbo setup as the standard cat would be restrictive and would likely fail in time. Has anyone achieved forced induction with a cat that allows an MOT pass? Cheers for the replies. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk

Sorry I should have mentioned that I don't have the space equipment and time to swap the cat in and out, hence would prefer a solution that has a permanent cat. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk

Cheers! Must be 'first car modding jitters'. Alignment happening on Thursday. Can't wait! Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk

I've had these fitted and although I can't comment on handling yet (waiting for geo to be sorted) I can say that I'm pleasantly surprised that the ride is still similarly comfortable to stock. One thing that I'm not sure about is whether the car looks like it's any lower... maybe it's just an expectation thing, but it looks roughly the same as it did before to my eyes. 17x8 ET35 Japan Racing JR18 wheels wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetric 3 in 225/45/17 Car is lowered 20mm on Racecomp Engineering Yellows Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk

Hi all Ive had my 86 lowered on 20mm Racecomp Engineering yellows. Also new alloys and tyres. I used a local tyre place (Paignton) to fit the tyres as they have a hunter 4 wheel alignment rig. Unfortunately they refused to fit the camber bolts and bushes (white line) I've got for some reason, but felt that the alignment was acceptable anyway. I'm not convinced. I'd appreciate some advice on what to do next? Should I take their advice and leave it or can anyone recommend some other place to take it within a reasonable distance of south Devon? Really appreciate the input Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk

Thanks Lauren that's really helpful. I think I've found a place in Cornwall, will give them a ring next week. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk

This. The goods have not lasted a reasonable length of time all being equal. I've found www.moneysavingexpert.com very helpful in finding out what my consumer rights are under law. The forums are also a good source of help and information. Likely there has been someone in your situation before. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk

Sorry to hear this If it were me I'd want to know what had failed to munch the engine Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk

Fascinating that it's not very predictable between cars even with the same amount of drop. Why would that be? Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk
-
Thanks Church. So without using camber bolts etc, lowering the car by ~20mm will result in cambers of about -0.5 to -1.0 front and -1.7 to -2.2 rear if I'm understanding that correctly. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk

By increase do you mean a more positive camber, or more negative? Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk
