More pics - wheels now removed from car: This is the slightly scuffed wheel: Open to sensible offers as these will now just be taking up space and will probably end up on ebay!

Winters on - Nokian D3 on Impreza Turbo alloys -
-
Sorry folks, I'm going to have to bail out on this one, too much on at home just now. See you all again soon
-
These are available now as the winters are going on today. Unfortunately one of my rears has picked up a scuff but there's still 4 immaculate wheels and all the tyres are as described above, so price is reduced accordingly. More pics to follow ...

I have taken my name off the "interested" list and told my dealer not to bother keeping me informed as previously requested! Subaru are going to have to do better than this I'm afraid. Its got such a nice front end but is let down from the A pillar back, in fact - from the middle of the front arches/scoop back its pretty uninteresting, just looks like a facelift of the last WRX STi saloon imo, the sharks fin is too far back and the wheels look so small in comparison to the bulky arches too. After seeing the concept I really was expecting much, much better styling. Will probably still go and drive one when a demo becomes availble though Edit: Is it just me or is there something very "Evo X" about the silver car looking at it from the N/S front? Subaru trying too hard to make up on lost ground?

Just a wee update, the "spare" pictured above is available now if anyone wishes to buy it separately as I aquired a space saver yesterday. It's got over 7mm as it only covered 400 miles and is as new, £180 ono

Sorry but I'd like to kick the designer of this in the goolies (yes - even if it was a female designer!). It makes me want to stab myself in the eyes with a fork. A Porsche Fuglyugster and a BRZ have morphed into something I never want to see in my life! Or maybe I would like to see it just once - on fire - along with the design plans and the mould it was spawned from! Just in case you haven't already realised - I don't like it!

So after mucho timeo spent investigating my shortlist of tyres has now grown to 3! I'd like your opinions please as I'm really torn between these: Nokian D3 Dunlop SP Winter 4D Goodyear Ultragrip 8 There's only £8/tyre separating them so price isn't really worth factoring into the decision so if anyone can give me the benefit of their experience i'd appreciate it! Cheers!

I'll be drunk asleep on the passenger floor, Jan'll be driving!
-
We'll be heading home after the curry but intend to do same - Meet @ TD - Manchester Xmas market - Curry! We've go too much going on at home just now to make a night of it unfortunately
-
I used (part worn) winters for the first time on Jan's car last year (it was an Astra) and the difference was night & day, hence why I'm so keen to get it right on the BRZ. The mistake I made last year was that I left the winters on too long and they degraded very quickly when the conditions improved.
-
I've used mytyres loads of times, never had any bother with them but I was conscious of the 2 year thing. They've always been quick to deliver and don't seem to advertise stock which they can't deliver, I've had that problem with tyresite in the past.
-
Thats the same day as Keethos' TD Meet, I could be up for this!
-
Ah, I was wondering about the price difference there but I'm doing a "keeler" and stepping down to 16"s, too much chance of real snow up here But again, I'm more convinced by the tread pattern on the GY's than the Nokian A3's
-
Be interested to hear the outcome of this winter tyre challenge! I am set to buy mine on Friday and you're testing both of my options! Keep us posted please

Anyone got an opinion on which type of tread pattern is best to go for: A3's: http://www.mytyres.co.uk/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?s_p=Nokian-WR-A3-205_55-R16-91H&details=Ordern&typ=D-117064&cart_id=52770637.110.31947&ranzahl=4&Breite=205&Herst=Nokian&Quer=55&Felge=16&weiter=0&kategorie=6&Ang_pro_Seite=20&Transport=P&dsco=110&sowigan=Wi&m_s=3&x_tyre_for=PKWWi&rsmFahrzeugart=PKW or D3's: http://www.mytyres.co.uk/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?s_p=Nokian-WR-D3-205_55-R16-91H&details=Ordern&typ=D-117063&cart_id=52770637.110.31947&ranzahl=4&Breite=205&Herst=Nokian&Quer=55&Felge=16&weiter=0&kategorie=6&Ang_pro_Seite=20&Transport=P&dsco=110&sowigan=Wi&m_s=3&x_tyre_for=PKWWi&rsmFahrzeugart=PKW

I thought the tread pattern on the D3 looked better suited to slush & snow, I'm about to commit to buying a set of these this week, it was either these or GY Ultragrip 8/Ice+. Not much in it in terms of price. Hmmmm

I thought pro r were supposed to have a range of goodies coming out for the brz this month? Can't remember where I heard that tho

Me too mate, I've already got my name down with Subaru for 1 of these. Like you say, the concept and the reality are often 2 very different things! Looks nice in the red though - anyone would think I had a thing for red cars . . . Mind you, looking at the rest of the pics, I think I'll be taking my name off the list if that's the production model! http://news.drive.com.au/drive/motor-news/new-subaru-wrx-leaked-20131112-2xd1r.html Edit: I just noticed those two photo's against the white background are artist's impressions but even so, it's going to have to look a lot like the concept to keep me interested!
-
Very "Stealth" looking mate, I wonder what you're going to do to it next ???
-
Alec, what sticker on the sun visor? CTP sourced this for me from Toyota Europe, not cheap but does away with that hideous yellow sticker.

Great to see you're back on the road Keith
