Judging by the fact the OP says he's done 30k on the original tyres I'm going to guess he's not tracking it, and since he's intent on fitting a cheap, budget tyre, he'd be better buying the best for the money he wants to spend. I've had the Toyos and the Nankangs recently and the Nankangs were grippier than the Toyos, albeit on different cars. I'm not saying that they'll perform better on a track or when diving at 10/10ths but lets be honest - that's not how 97% of us drive, normally. I'd be interested to know what experience you have or what research you've done into budget tyres to brand them all as "crap" for normal road use. I can't see you being the kind of person who spends a lot of time researching budget tyres to be fair. I did, because I wanted my son to be safe but also not break the bank if he kerbed them or wheelspun the life out of them. Couldn't agree more about the false economy factor, and if I went to see a GT86 or BRZ for sale and it had mismatched or "cheap" tyres on it, I'd run a mile. But I was answering the question that the OP asked, I wasn't telling him what I'd do, I was answering what he asked. 4 x nankangs = £155.20 4 x continental = £319.60 I can understand why some would want to save £160+

Long time no speak auld yin! Hope you are well. I'm putting them on a Mazda 6 diesel. I'm not too concerned as I'm sure they'll be better than the mismatched budgets currently on it!

I think there will be enough going on to keep everyone amused for a few hours.... I'm travelling 360 miles to get there, so I'd expect the same commitment from you!

We've decide to rearrange the Karting for another date for those of us happy to pay for the 40min endurance in the Dmax Karts so a new thread will be created for this later on on the year. So for now, please keep letting us know what exhausts you've got and what you want from the day!! No details of Dyno availability yet, so once it's up and running will have more info and can start arranging time slots etc... Cheers!!

Totally agree and a +1 for the Eagles from me! Just ordered a set for my workhorse

Nankangs are not "crap" as suggeted above, in fact they're amongst the best budget tyre available. BUT - although I've used them on many cars, it's certainly never been on anything as precious as a GT86 or BRZ!!! I'd tread (pardon the pun) very carefully when selecting tyres for your car. Toyo are not as good as they used to be either, I wouldn't buy them again. I use MyTyres, some great deals there, especially on the Nankangs http://www.mytyres.co.uk/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?dsco=110&cart_id=64499222.110.27916&sowigan=So&Breite=215&Quer=45&Felge=17&Speed=&kategorie=6&Marke=&ranzahl=4&tyre_for=&x_tyre_for=&suchen=Show tyres&Ang_pro_Seite=50&sort_by=preis&rsmFahrzeugart=ALL&search_tool=standard&weiter=0

Subir! Muy barato! Se vende amigos! Oferta por favor I'm going to try a different language every bump, just in case this amazing bargain isn't coming across in English! Any requests?

Yes, I was going to put them on Jan's Forester but never got round to it. I've used the tyres on my Focus so the rims are currently up my loft. We've agreed a sale on the Forester so it's never going to have them fitted! The retail on these is over £1400, they're as good as new - were only on the car around 900 miles as you know - so what are they worth to anyone? Also included are the spigot rings and a set of nuts I'd like to get £600 but to be honest I just think they'd be better on someone's car instead of up my loft - so seriously, make me a sensible offer and I'll accept it!! They are uber-rare and I know I'm unlikely to ever see another set but it's just a waste having them stored away. I'll probably kick myself if I buy another 86/scoobie down the line...
-
I had thought of that but it takes a lot longer and probably wouldn't be able to fit in with the meet at Amber, again though, would make another great meet. I used to do Airsoft, slightly more painful and specialised but great fun!
-
Whilton Mill is approx 55 mins drive from Amber, I'll find out what the latest time (and cost!) would be for a session there and we can weigh up the options. Perhaps those of us who fancy the DMAX karting at Milton Keynes could arrange another date for this?
-
Daytona were supposed to call me back yesterday, but since they haven't - and I get the feeeling most folk think they're too expensive anyway - I think I'll leave it and make enquiries elsewhere. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Or is everyone ok with karting?
-
I'm going to speak to them on monday once we have rough numbers so please dont let the price put you off just yet!!! I will be using my tight-ar$ed scotsman approach and try for the best deal possible. I agree £95 all in for 50mins track time in the DMAX karts is a bit much

"Hi Robert, Thank you so much for your interest - we'd be delighted to welcome you to Daytona Milton Keynes. Please find attached a document with the race formats we discussed, along with a few ideas to make your event truly memorable. I’ve listed the prices in both our 390cc 4 stroke SODI karts and also our thoroughbred DMAX 2 stroke race karts – please note that we will allow 30 SODI karts on track simultaneously, and for DMAX, the cap is 20 karts simultaneously. If your numbers exceed 20 but you’d like to use the DMAX karts then we have a GP Heats race format to allow this. If you'd like to secure an event in our diary, a 50% deposit is required along with a signed Booking Form. The balance of fees is due no later than 10 days prior to the event date. Please note that once made, all bookings are non-refundable and non-transferrable. I’ll give you a call next week and hope to hear that the feedback from the other club members is positive! Thanks again for considering Daytona Milton Keynes." The price quoted originally was for the SODI karts, the DMAX karts are: Daytona 40 10 minute practice / Qualifying –40 minute race £79.17 Daytona Challenge 5 minute practice -2 x 10 minute heats –15 minute final £83.33 PLUS VAT!!

I'll post up full details, just waiting on email from Daytona
