Well, we certainly have an ace GT86 engine builder in our midst I have just got back from visiting Nige, and his re-built engine runs beautifully. Well done, Sir, you have my respect and awe Dave
-
That is what I am using.
-
I think it is time to pay you a visit again, Nige . I can then see it in all its glory
-
It is such a pity that Cosworth won't let Adrian do the mapping. I have absolutely no torque dip on my turbo car.
-
Nige, If the rear part of the centre console / tunnel cover, whet ever it is called (from the hand brake lever back) is available I am interested - mine has a bad scratch on the side of it.
-
Nige / Lee Is the spare wheel well cut out before fitting the aluminium panel? I need to remove the spare wheel well from my TSS Yaris and fit a flat floor in order to make room for the rear exhaust box I will be using. Dave

At the end of the day, what something is worth second hand is what someone is prepared to pay for it. Have a look at the likes of Autotrader to see the going rate.
-
And what would you do about the holes in the bumper for the central number plate mount?
-
I would definitely like to see the build log - it may give me some pointers when I come to build my race Yaris engine. It has been a while since I last built a race engine :-(
-
Have you started the engine re-build yet, Nige?
-
Nige, Going for the AVO 3" over pipe and cat pipe is definitely your best option. It is designed to fit a RHD car, whereas any of the American ones will I can (almost) guarantee will foul on the steering. Also, the AVO over pipe is designed to fit straight onto the outlet of their turbo.

Nige, I could be interested. As you know, my clutch would appear to be starting to slip on full boost. This clutch may be better than another Helix one. Would the ACT clutch work for a road car?
-
Congratulations to the Special K family :-)
-
Great pictures (as usual) Dan! Good to see you again as well.

It was really great to see you all again. Next time though, I must remember to take with all my winter woollies :-) I am also really glad that I was able to talk Nige into coming along for the ride (and to get him out of his garage for a few hours!) Dave

I am looking forward to seeing you all again tomorrow. I won't be staying for lunch (have another arrangement for the afternoon), but am planning on getting there for around 11-30 for an hour or so catch up :-). I am trying to convince Nige to come along with me. Dave

How long would you expect to have to wait for spares?
Pitman replied to Twigman's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Ian, Not wanting to get embroiled in an argument by any means, but unfortunately, our cars are assembled in a Subaru plant, and Toyota have to rely on the Subaru supply chain for any parts. Having said that, I have some suggestions: 1} Give Richard (riceburner) a call at RRG, and see if he can help. When I worked for Toyota, they had a VOR status for parts (vehicle off road), and if this was the case, very often parts were 'robbed' from the production line to supply the dealer with. I don't know if this system exists with the Toyota / Subaru tie up. 2) Try these guys here https://partsouq.com/en/catalog/toyota to see if they can use their contacts to expedite your parts for you (I have used them, and their service is fantastic) 3) Have a chat with Nige (Nigelr32). His car is currently in bits, and has done virtually no mileage. He may be open to letting you have the bits from his car, which you can replace when your order comes through from TGB Dave -
Thank you Nige, you are a true gent! Can you txt / pm me the guy's name that you spoke to?
-
Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor . I have to make sure that the Yaris is capable of keeping up with the GT86s . Also, I am sure that you and Richard will only want the best when you guest drive it
-
No reply yet to my email, Nige. I think I will give him a call in the morning.

The nice Fedex man delivered some more bits today for the engine build Plus head and main bearing studs and nuts (the Crowler rods come with ARP bolts included Now that the pistons have arrived, I need to find a competent engineering shop to make me a torque plate so that I can get my nice clean block bored and honed for the CP pistons. I also have to notch the bottom of the bores, in order to clear the rods. Lots and lots of work to do

As we have come to expect from your posts, Nige - totally amazing! These are the kind of informative threads I love on a car forum - rather than the trivial 'spotted' type threads which some forums seem to be full of!

The owner of the dealership said that an 'amicable arrangement' had been reached with the owner. I wonder what it was?

You may have a point, Neil The Collins English dictionary defines reliable as being 'able to be trusted, predictable or dependable' I guess if your track car can be trusted to break down, is predictable to let you down, and you can depend on it costing you a lot of money, it still fits into the category of being reliable, as it does meet all the criteria?
