Here you are, Mark - fixed it for you http://www.silver-systems.co.uk/

To be honest, initially I will be quite happy to get the engine running reliably . The features I mentioned above are what I would like to get sorted, after all, it is a Yaris you know
-
Neil, hopefully Adrian will jump in some time, and give his thought and opinions. My research shows that: DTA S60 costs £795incl. delivered, where as the Motec M400 has a base price of £1717 (which I think excludes VAT) The 1NZ FE engine has variable valve timing on the inlet cam. Although the cams I will be using have a 264 degree duration, I would still like to maintain the VVT function. The DTA does this as standard, whereas it is an upgrade of £236 for the Motec (again, less vat)To add lambda control to the Motec is a further £394 for the Motec - standard for the DTA. Finally, launch control, traction control and flat foot shifting are all standard with the DTA, whereas the Motec upgrade is £295. So, comparing required features, the Motec (with VAT) will be around £3170 versus the £795 for the DTA. A massive difference. The entry level Motec (M84) does not have the cam control option, and still costs over £2700 with the rest of the 'upgrade' options as above. Here are the features of the DTA S60 Pro ECU: http://www.dtafast.co.uk/S_60_PRO.htm

Most definitely, Keith . It will unfortunately be a good few months until it is ready, but once the red demon is finished, I will not forget my friends. The whole purpose of the car is for maximum fun for all, which is one of the reasons why I am building the Yaris, rather than going the MR2 route that Lauren was pushing me to. Hopefully, the car will be a real hoot once it is finished. I am thinking of spraying it in a similar colour scheme as the new Toyota WRC Yaris
-
Neil, at well over £2000 for a Motec that a £900 DTA can do (as far as what my humble Yaris will require anyway), I think the chances are pretty good. A key point will however, be if Adrian Smith will be prepared to map a DTA ecu. There is no one else I trust to map my car(s) for me.

In stock at Fensport - no need to import http://www.fensport.co.uk/Parts/Model_108/Category_3/4964

Here you are Mark, some more engine porn Brian Crowler valves and springs, complete with Titanium retainers. Should help me achieve my 8,000 rpm goals
-
Very nice Is the a Fensport desk that it is photographed on?
-
Most definitely, Rich! Are you offering your services?
-
Not nearly as glamorous as the pictures that Nige has been posting, but.......... 1NZ FE engine head, block, sump and cam cover all cleaned and ready for some machine work prior the the race engine assembly One nice clean T Sport gearbox ready to be taken to Fensport for a LSD to be fitted There are two parts of the 1N ZE that limit the amount of boost they will take, the 10.5:1 compression ratio (no direct injection like the GT86), and the ultra light weight powder forged con rods. Here is a comparison between the Brian Crowler rods and standard I will post some pictures of the forged 9:1 CP pistons when they arrive from the good old USA

Just been looking at the price of stretch gauges - around £200 Compared to the costs of a catastropic failure, I suppose it is worth it, though.
-
Nige, a question for you. When you re-assemble the engine, will you just be torquing up the rod bolts, or will you be using a stretch gauge? The latter appears to be the preferred ARP method.
-
This build is getting better and better! With the work that Nige is doing, and the specification the car is being built to, I hardly think it will qualify to be termed a daily ride
-
Need to look into it a bit more, then. I have found the right Cusco one - 7 point bolt in, CrMo steel, also through the dash. They are £415.50 from RHD Japan, the killer though, is the shipping, about £350! I need to give Fensport a ring. So it looks like it will be either OMP or Cusco then for the cage http://www.rhdjapan.com/cusco-d1-roll-bar-7-point-2-seats-through-dash-toyota.html
-
Cheers, Nige It might only be 64bhp now (I have just checked, and found that I overstated the power output earlier by approximately 1.5% ) but wait until the 'new' engine is built and fitted . As you say, you are the privileged one to be the first forum member who has sat in the car with the engine running As far as I know, the OMP roll cage has got doglegs at the front to miss the dash (a total no-no, as we discussed on Saturday), plus that are made to order, with a fairly long lead-time (from memory, it was 6 weeks minimum when I inquired the end of last year).. I need to have a chat with Adrian @ Fensport about Cusco roll cages, to see if they have anything that meets my requirements.
-
Mike, I won't get it finished in time for the full 2015 season, although I hope to be able to get it finished to do at least a few rounds this year, in preparation for a full go next year.
-
Now this is why I am building my TSS car . Only problem is, I don't have any trusted Techs to help me!
-
Thank you for the support, Guys and Gal I forgot the drivetrain spec, Lauren - Fidanza aluminium flywheel, Helex cerametallic 4 paddle clutch and uprated cover. T Sport gearbox with TRD LSD. I did look long and hard at the option of the MR2, but for what I want, the Yaris ticks more boxes Richard, after experiencing the boost of my 86, there is no option but turbo . I am busy putting together a bit of a shopping list for standard Toyota parts - I assume that RRG can also supply stuff for a Yaris?
-
Having had the privilege of seeing all the work that Nige is putting into his car yesterday, all I can say is I am really impressed. The attention to detail is unbelievable. Once it is finished, this will without doubt be the No.1 GT86! As for all the special bits inside the house for it, it is going to go as well as it will look.
-
What a true Gent Nige is . I took a trip down to deepest Gloucestershire to drool over his car and go faster bits, and look what he gave me Thank you soooo much Nige As soon as it gets a bit warmer, I will be jacking up the back of my car, and fitting it.
-
My free gift? Now I am intrigued Perhaps I should come and visit you some time. Are you going to be home this weekend?
-
Nige, Your workmanship never ceases to impress and amaze me When you are done on your GT86, I have some work I need to discuss with you on my project
-
Nige, Give Fensport a ring in the morning. They already have all the measurements.
