One thing for sure is, he will become my new best friend, and in the process make me incredibly jealous and envious!

As long as the registration plate of your stolen car is registered as stolen, I don't see how you can use it on another car. ANPR purely looks at the number plate, not the VIN.
-
Keith, I am 90% available for either date. Nige, if I can make it, you are welcome to meet up at my house, and we can go together in my car.
-
Come on Nige, where is today's installment? I need my fix!
-
I can only echo the posts above - without doubt my favorite thread on the internet at the moment! Keep the posts coming, please

The Black paint code is D4S

Thanks, Nige. The reason why I asked if you had polished your case is that, in the picture above, the bell-housing looks like it has been polished. Dave
-
Have you polished the case as well, Nige? Could you share some details of the superfinishing process? Once I get my life sorted out, I have a gearbox (not GT86, but still Toyota ) that could definitely do with the benefits you have listed.

What he said I hope everyone has a great 2015 - (from a personal point of view, it can only be better than 2014 ) Dave

I think that the ultimate strength of the gearbox, and the amount of torque it can take before it gives up is very dependent on how you use it. With their love of drag racing, I would suspect that those in the USA that have had gearbox failure have been doing full power shifts, with very sticky tires on the drag strip. What are you ultimate plans for your car, Nige (apart from taking lovely pictures of all the component parts? )?

Here you are, Nige: Idle - 27psi 2k - 55psi 4k - 88psi 6k - 88psi 7k - 88psi This is with the engine up to normal operating temperature. The oil pressure take off point is the oil gallery just below the oil filter - you can just see it in the picture below. I use Millers CFW 0W30 NT Fully Synthetic oil. Any advice for getting aluminium engine castings really clean, i.e. removal of what I guess is baked in oil (dark patches in the casting) and that horrible white oxidation? (For those of us who are busy preparing an engine for rebuilding that has done a bit more than the couple of hundred miles your did before you stripped it down )

There isn't any engine mounted harshness in the cockpit from the engine mounts, as far as I am concerned. My car also has the Whiteline gearbox mount insert and poly bushes throughout for the suspension, so it will be slightly harsher than standard. To be totally honest, is is so long since I drove / went in a standard GT86, I cannot remember what it is like compared to mine. If you see how much the engine moves with the standard mounts on a dyno, I feel that stiffer mounts are essential.

They are fitted to my car, Nige.

Wanted: Standard front anti roll bar
Pitman replied to matt's topic in Wanted GT86 / BRZ Cars and Parts
I have one. Where about are you based? -
Be afraid - be very afraid!! Seriously, the better scale will be the fun factor, in which case it will be 12 on a scale of 1 - 10
-
Oh yes, most definitely!

Nige, Fensport are the sole European agents / distributors for AVO. Give Adrian a ring and discuss your requirements with him. He has already proven the ability to get their new products before anyone else (my AVO 3" turbo outlet / overpipe and cat pipe was on my car before the American AVO operation had one ) . Adrian does have the billet turbo listed on the Fensport website: http://www.fensport.co.uk/Parts/Model_108/Category_17/4903

Winter hibernation. Mark . I absolutely hate this time of the year, so best to just hide away in my Man Cave deep in the Royal Forest of Dean, working on the 2015 project
-
All will be revealed in the new year :-)
-
Great to meet you, Nige : As we discussed, I suggest you have a serious conversation with Adrian before you spend any money on buying parts to build / develop your engine. I will also take you up on your invitation to come and see your kit car GT86. I also need to pick your brains on my other project I told you about Dave

Nige, Did you consider the Cosworth rods and pistons?

Teg, Have you ever done any moulding with resin before? If not, you will find that you will end up with a LOT of micro-bubbles in the resin when you mix it with the catalyst. Two ways to deal with this: 1) Use a slow catalyst, and leave the resin to stand for long enough after mixing, before you pour it, to allow it to fully de-gas. 2) (The preferred way) Once mixed, de-gas the resin in a proper vacuum chamber. Depending on where you live, I have the necessary equipment, and I am more than willing to help you. Also, make sure you use UV stabilised epoxy resin, or you will find it yellowing with time. Dave
