Introducing Rigid Collars - club offer
Pitman replied to Burn! Motorsport's topic in Burn! Motorsport
I must say that from an automotive engineering point of view, I pretty much agree with Nige. Whilst the jigging used to assemble modern cars is pretty sophisticated, the reality is, you are always going to get a level of variation. The process of welding will always introduce a level of distortion, which has to be compensated for. From my experience of setting up welding assemblies (using robots to do the critical welding to minimise any variation) very often parts were assembled loose 'out of spec', so that, once the welding was completed, it would pull into specification. Despite this, you have to allow for tolerances, usually with one datum mounting point. By fitting these bushes to remove this allowance, you will almost certainly introduce a pre-set strain in the bushes. I also get a bit sceptical about the claim of the parts being made out of some 'secret blend of space materials' What is it, a blend of Moon rock and Mars dust? -
Keith, The reason for the adjustable drop links is exactly as you say, in order to maintain the neutral position of the ARB arms, when you change the ride height of the car Dave
-
Keith, you 'could' preload any ARB with different length drop links. The question is, though, why would you want to on a road car?

in·cor·ri·gi·ble (n-kôr-j-bl, -kr-) adj. 1. Incapable of being corrected or reformed: an incorrigible criminal. 2. Firmly rooted; ineradicable: incorrigible faults. 3. Difficult or impossible to control or manage: an incorrigible, spoiled child. n. One that cannot be corrected or reformed. Yip, that's me

I have got it already - Christmas came early

Well earned loyalty Wouldn't it be great if this other tuner you mentioned went head to head with Adrian in Class F1 (with S/C obviously) in the TSS next year, to really show who is the best GT86 / BRZ tuner?

Alec, Does yours drop only when the air con kicks in, or with the air con off as well?

I don't think so When another tuner betters what Adrian has achieved with his GT86R, perhaps we can re look at your 'correction'

Edited - don't want to put the mods in an awkward position -
Obviously my car has been extensively re-mapped, however if I turn the air con off, then the idle is rock steady. With the air con on, the idle revs drop slightly every time the clutch on the air con compressor engages, as you would expect. So, solution to the erratic idle issue - fit a turbo, and get Adrian to re-map you car properly

Fixed! Thank you

If those are my mistakes you are correcting, Lauren, I have an excuse - I come from the colonies, and was educated in the bush under a tree -

Was very interested until I saw the airbrushing on the back Aren't those 'Doggy's' old seats? If so, how did you end up with them? -
All I can say is, Nige, you could not be in better hands! Adrian and Fensport are without doubt the best and most knowledgeable Toyota (and now GT86 / BRZ) tuners in the country, if not Europe. Expanding on that, I do not believe there is even an American tuner that has achieved what Adrian has with his GT86R. The offer stands, if you want to experience his handy work first hand, my car is always available
-
Thanks, Nige - I have corrected my typo

I am sure our Sprintex fan club will be along shortly to answer your questions. For street use only, I would not think that an oil cooler would be that necessary. Best thing to do is monitor your oil temp via Torq, and see what readings you are getting. I have an oil temp / pressure gauge on my car (and an oil cooler), and my oil temp on the road rarely gets higher than the opening temp of the oil thermostat. As far as the DW injectors are concerned, I don't believe that the standard injector duty cycles should be stretched with a street map on the SC. Who is going to do the mapping for you? Best to ask them. The D4S uses both port and direct injectors, the trick to really good mapping is to get the balance right between the two. As far as I know, no one has yet released an after market direct injector for our cars, never mind a higher flow one.

Nige, Be VERY careful with that splitter when parking, driving over speedbumps etc. - as good as it may look, it also looks very vulnerable
-
It may be available to order, but is it available to deliver? Has anyone actually got a production version? That is why I stated 'currently available'. Sprintex only advertise the 210 - http://www.sprintex.com.au/supercharger-systems/toyota-86-scion-frs-subaru-brz/
